Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta In response to moose's pro tip: defense buildings play a new strategic role in new system....can u elaborate : ) ? Defense has been a form of static defense stats not tied to troops so when u hit 0 troops u don't continue to get plunder stolen from u or at least its not as bad...at 0 your defense remains from defense buildings as your troop defense declines when u lose troops..but 15 minutes of invulnerability at 0% does that not take away from the value of the defense buildings? Will u lose less troops when attacked because of defense buildings and as a result take longer to knock out? Very interested in knowing what u know moose : )
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta Def building are important for several reasons. 1. The static defense never ever goes away, so that means that you are more difficult to pin. This means that players who are already weakened wont be able to hit/steal you as easily 2. Because of your better def stats, it will require more people to knock you out, so it drains enemy resources 3: the new attack tower stats have been brought into correct alignment with the current system, thus giving them value. I always thought the old def buildings were under powered
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta A quick note - we updated the initial announcement. We are only pushing out 1 level of the bonus for the Beta Test. Please see the original post for details.
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta just incase later on after Estoc Trials are a success, could "plunder wars" be brought back in this case for the easy item bonuses? or have there been a solution to permanently block this from happening later on? knowing some people there will be someone trying to manipulate the war system again to benefit the kaw community so say. just a curious question since the overall goal is to bring back real wars. hopefully there isn't a way around it this time... thanks everyone
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta I might have misread something about this already but I might as well ask anyway
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta Darling devs, you say you want to add more availability for different timezones. However, in the current set up where you lose your bonus if you leave clan combined with auto join in effect and short war durations it's impossible for all members to gain and keep the edge. Scenarios we are currently faced with in this beta that will continue if you guys can't find a better way to set up warring process itself: 1. Chose only one time to war per week and deny part of your members the opportunity to war or require those timezones to war at possibly terrible hours (1 am to 5 am for example). Sure you can send ur other members to merc for other clans warring at the time they need, but if they want to come home after war they lose their edge....so why bother mercing if you can't bring ur spoils of war back with you? Lol 2. War both times and either have a bunch of inactives on ur roster that may cost everyone their edge in the second war or kick those from the first war who can't war in the second war...which means all their hard work in the first war is lost because they lose their edge when they are kicked. So basically it becomes a decision of if u want to risk the whole clan losing the edge or just risk part of the clan losing the edge...that's still too much cost for winning wars from my viewpoint. In my opinion, you guys really need to create a process that yes gives options to accommodate more timezones, but at the same time does not alienate members from warring from their home clans. Not to mention the freaking admin nightmare it is to get 50 people available to war each week, much less multiple wars each week. I think you should be able to sign up for war, have ur members who can join war chose "join war" through the existing join war button, and "acceptance" of sign up does not occur unless the min amount of active members is met. If a clan can't get enough active to join, they don't qualify at lock. Any member remaining on roster that did not activate remains inactive for course of war, no late joining etc to throw off strength matching after lock. This is just the beta test but I have already had feedback from members who would rather not war at all then war and lose the edge b/c of the current leaving = edge loss crap. These are members who LOVE to war, but I agree with them it's crap they are told to war for benefits of an edge that the current system doesn't allow them to keep if they can't be kaw super bots available to war without RL obligations. I have no idea if what I'm proposing is difficult from a programming standpoint, but I feel strongly if this system is going to be successful you guys have to find a way to give members an option to stay in their home clans to keep their edge in recognition that despite possibly their want, their lives do not revolve around kaw. Also for purposes of this beta and while your think tank is brain storming on a way to do this, I also think if a member earns their edge in war 1 this weekend but can't stick around for war 2 they should keep their edge even if they leave this weekend. This allows more people within the clan as a whole to "test" the system and give feedback without punishing them for not being able to do both wars. They are not leaving clan for selfish gain this weekend, on the contrary they would be leaving to give their clanmates a chance to experience this cool new system proposed. Just my thoughts so far on the new system/process, looking forward to the wars themselves.
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta so i didnt really read wat every bodies else opinions werre but i believ mith should go on sale again
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta Alot of post about losing ur epoc boost from leaving clan...this is bata test...ur being unrealistic...it's not a war to get a boost its a trial to improve war...when war system is active for all after bata is over u can be with ur clans and get all the epoc boost u want...most posts are confused that this is live and the way it will always be...this is bata guys and the reason for it is to answer all these questions not win a bonus or lose it...those bonuses are pretty sweet though right : ) keep um comin devs
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta Yeah good opinion moose...I'd like to see some feedback on defense towers after bata so remember to observe that all I bata testers reading this
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta Hap yes this is a beta test, and the system we are testing is the one that IS being proposed. As someone currently "testing" getting my clan set up for this thing, I'm giving my feedback on concerns I'm seeing that if not addressed in the beta stage and carry over into the live phase will be make the system not as appealing as it should be. I feel, if we don't express concerns now in the beta phase how are devs going to know if we don't like it? I personally could care less about the reward itself; however to me the current edge reward mechs/penalties create a procedural inequity for players and is counter productive to stated objectives by the devs. The most important determinant of the new systems success in my view is players "want" to use it. If the reward system is set up in such a way that it actually discourages players from using it then regardless of how fantastic and cool the system itself is, the "worth" will not be seen by the player base; thus, returning us back to a constant state of EB.
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta I feel that the 2 beta test wars is to cater for different time zone and not so much about for clan to join both war. Since the bonus lasts only for 2 weeks and there is 5 levels of bonus, in the actual system there should be more than 5 available wars in same time zone per 2 weeks. However, I do find that the system will promote clan with all members in the same time zone.
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta Yangxiao do you not feel that a clan made up of same TZs may be problematic in OSW? It means clan members in OSW can't watch out for strips on their mates sleeping, b/c they themselves would be sleeping as well. Additionally, discovering the TZ of a clan made up of just one or two TZs would be extremely easy since Ebs would not run at night while the clan sleeps. One of the best defenses in OSW is hiding your TZ from your opponent, if this new war system encourages clans of one TZ it will make defending against opponents in OSWs almost impossible. Additionally, clans currently comprised of members from all TZs should have to leave their friends and find a new clan that is same TZ as them? That seems to go against the core values and purpose of many currently established clans. Now to your point on keeping your edge for two weeks. If you alternate between war times available each week in an effort to avoid the above scenario but only war once a week, that would still require the members from the opposing TZ to leave clan; thus, losing their edge again. A clan would not be able to build to level 5 if every alternating week they are sending the opposing TZs away lol So whether you are spacing the wars out over a week or attempting multiple wars per week, the fact remains the same that providing the opportunity for multiple TZs to build their edge from one clan is not feasible in my opinion in this new proposed system.
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta I'm referring to the fear that one will lose epoc boost if they join a bata clan for the test and go back to home clan after and lose it...it's bata so don't just join a bata clan for boost...it's not live and when it is u can get boost at home clan...It seams as if some things are set in place for bata and will change after...such as the xstal amount, the time situation, the pre hour restriction, the boost details, the automatic join..and who knows what else...lets test it out first and then see opinions of what might need a change...sounds pretty good to me so far...but that remains to be seen
Re: Estoc Trials - Open Beta The time zones are for the bata only...anytime for live I'm sure...it's unrealistic to assume the times for war will always be these times...try can be whenever clans want them to be
