Actually no, ATA is responsible for providing age appropriate material as their application is rated 9 plus.
If you don't like it then don't use it. If your children play, tell them not to use it as well. They should know not to give their personal information away online. It's honestly surprising this offer system wasn't implemented years ago, as most apps offer it. Read the privacy section of the site and decide whether you'd like to partake in voluntary data collection with bonuses, or not. Regardless, it still happens to everyone who goes online.
Exactly. Yes, a parent/guardian is obviously responsible for their own child. However this app is rated as 9+, ergo it should be providing appropriate content.
I only said that because I don't wanna google something for you if you're just gonna dismiss it without taking the time to read it. Here's one source. Please keep in mind that there are many, many others like this. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/1 ... erapy.html
The link is provided through their own game. They're essentially advertising it. I'm not familiar with the legalities so I'm not going to say my words are concrete, but I figure they would be able to be held liable in some way.
After the battle cry it is nice to see this was buried. It's far better than other adverts on other apps. I like the free nobility part to the players for testing / reviewing products essentially. This is useful both ways extra revenue for ata and players can choose to use it to help advance on kaw. It may also help raise awareness of kaw thus bringing new players in. It may not be my first choice of update. But I see it as a positive move as ata now has a way to make revenue on kaw with the players help, without putting any cost directly onto us. I may actually do this myself between the odd offload.
Yep that's very true, Chaos. I'll be checking out the offers as soon as I update to see if they're worth it. And don't require unnecessary information
I'm not a legal expert, either, so I can't comment one way or the other. However, this is a social app that's connected to the Internet, which means that anything is possible, which basically makes the age rating meaningless. But that's none of my business.
Yes they can actually, they can state that they are a +9 application and all services that include over 18 offers shouldn't be included. It's like if you pay KAW $100 for Xtals, but u don't receive the xtals. Well, we can't blame the Devs because Apple was the provider! Let's sue Apple because they stole our money. Also, a good idea would to have a toggle on/toggle off feature, this way parents could toggle off that feature and the kids are free to play away. You could also include a pin but I feel that's unnecessary.
No, the age rating isn't meaningless. Many people might pay no attention to it - but that is their own decision. I would be surprised if ATA wasn't bound by the age rating that was set. If there is in fact offers about gambling, I would say this violates their age rating. Again, I am no legal expert. These are just my thoughts.
I just checked my offers. First one is about making a sports bet account and placing a bet. Somehow I doubt encouraging betting is suitable for 9 year olds
Like I said previously, I'm not trying to act like I know the legalities of this process. But how is encouraging gambling and betting on a 9+ game okay? Aren't they violating their own age requirement?
