I was in the same boat. There was just too much information coming at me from people I knew but never interacted with. It felt like I was wasting my life trying to keep up with everyone else's. Now I'm back to where I was before social media. I have a small group of really good friends I hang out with regularly and I now have the time to do the things I used to love doing. I don't feel the urge to pull out my phone and post pictures for people who aren't there, so they can "like" it, even though I'm physically with people already. It's the stupidest thing ever. Everywhere I go, I see groups of young people hanging out and they're all on their phones. What's the point of even hanging out if you're just gonna be somewhere else mentally? Deactivating my Facebook account last year was probably the best decision I made all year. I feel happier, I have more time, and I'm not so stressed out all the time about constantly being connected to all the details of everyone's fake online lives. Seriously, Facebook is so fake. It is engineered to only show positive content. That's why there's no dislike button. They're forcing you to be artificially positive. That's why people always try to post pictures of things that they think their "friends" will like. They just want to collect likes like its some kind of video game score or something. It's so far from reality and people don't even realize what it's doing to their perception of what reality really is. They want you to feel good when you use it, so you keep using it more and more. That way they learn more about the inner most parts of your thoughts and feelings, so they can then use that information to sell to advertisers. The more they know about you, the easier it is for them to convince you to buy stuff. Why do you think it's free? Nothing that good could possibly come without a cost. When you use Facebook, you're pretty much selling your soul in exchange for artificial happiness.
Hmm you don't want to post posts on facebook and loose time, so you now switch to posting on kaw foruns! I see what you did there
I primarily only use my FB for games that require linking and to see pics of my son. His mom is one of those FB crazies that posts EVERYTHING. It's basically the only way I can see him anymore so it is what it is I guess.
It's a good way to stay in touch with people. I keep it around just to message people and share/look at memes. It's your own choice to stress about it. You're not obligated to make posts all the time.
I only use fb for close friends and family. Its hard to stay off grid though, ive tried. It seems theres always some net service that requires a fb account to interact with a webpage these days, which is crummy I remember when we didnt have cordless phones. The first one my family got would go an acre before cutting out
I use fb to like pics my gf posts of us, and to link games and such. Other than that I find it useless as well. xD
