Re: NEW MOD TIME BRO I don't know how much say the current moderators have on selecting new members, but with the exception of the odd times where the developers would randomly appoint new player moderators through their channels out of the blue, player moderators used to have some amount of say on acquisition. To be fair, some infamous moderators came about through the process as much as good moderators were drafted. Whoa Whoa Whoa! There's a big difference between supporting satire and supporting Cynder for mod. Don't get me twisted. Would Cynder be a good moderator? I think to some extent a front is put up because it's good fun, and that he's a decent individual. I don't know how that would translate, nor do I know the individual well enough, so I'll say I'm abstaining from the discussion on that front. Aside, until I'm a player-moderator again, I wouldn't say that I'm "out of retirement." I generally at least glance at the goings-on here from time to time, I'm just more talkative at the moment. On that front towards why there was a limit on world chat use, at the time of KaW's inception, world chat was not a common feature, but a relatively new one. Also, world chat was truly global, and not split into multiple world chats like now. Having in-app forums (without even switching to a browser) was also relatively crazy, since private and clan chat didn't even exist in the application at the time. Given that activity became crazy enough WITH the speaker system to cause world chat to be divided, you can see why it wouldn't necessarily just go away. You put actual time and effort into a piece of satire. Based on the success of the anti-guides, as well as you putting it in off-topic from the start to avoid battles of "does this really belong in feedback or other game discussion etc.," I think it was, well, a lock for dodging the lock.
Re: NEW MOD TIME BRO Corinthian From what I know the devs currently go through applications and suggest suitable candidates with the mods backing up those who they agree with. I just feel that perhaps a process where the mods have a larger impact would be great.
Re: NEW MOD TIME BRO What kind of process would you suggest? The developers using applications initially allow for relative unknowns - people who are relatively new to the scene and haven't stood out enough, but would be good moderators (as well as niche community moderators (say for foreign population or activity)). It's good to have someone who is already established in the community, yet will diligently maintain that role while taking on the player-moderator duties, but that might be too heavy. Also, if moderators did have more of a say (and it was known), you'd have players becoming or not becoming moderators who would have to deal with favoritism calls, true of false (not becoming moderators because they'd be worthy, but not appointed to specifically avoid such a call). Furthermore, it would increase the amount of would-be moderators bothering the current staff (which I imagine is still a relatively decent amount). I'm not disagreeing, just curious what kind of solution you'd propose (even if any changes aren't publicly seen. For all we know, it could be something that already is in place, or would be enacted based off of feedback here).
Re: NEW MOD TIME BRO I, slayerbob, as supreme mod make all final decisions in regards to new moderators coming on the team. Applications are reviewed by the developers and narrow down their selections to less than a hand full. They then give this hand full to me and I background check every applicant, and make a final decision. If Cynder passes the developer trials, expect him in a green cape very soon! **DISCLAIMER** i am supreme mod
Re: NEW MOD TIME BRO I shall be in my office waiting for my name plate, free xtal a day, and unlimited speakers. My secretary was fired for skirts that were too long so I will have to answer your call personally.
Re: NEW MOD TIME BRO Hey I live by this motto for my business practices, entrepreneurial efforts and economic situations: You can't make nun until *U* make *N's* meet. Anyone who gets that is awesome
Re: NEW MOD TIME BRO ..and here I thought nuns were created by finding three n's somewhere and making the middle one stand on its head on the threat of its life. I've been doing it wrong all this time :? PS: Yes, I do make ends meet. No, I'm not a librarian.
Re: NEW MOD TIME BRO Full support. With Slayerbob as the Moderator Supreme's endorsement, Chaos' endorsement and Eagle's endorsement (not locking this is obviously a full fledged endorsement from cranky pants), Corinthian's return to active endorsement and my endorsement (which is also an endorsement from the Lollygaggle in which I command as Lord Lollygags) we must make Cynder a new title. So. Cynder the Modernnihlator? Cynder the Moderator Extreme? Cynder the Moderator without Fear? Any other suggestions for consideration?
