-Legendary Hero: Interesting how you feel that way. Most mental diseases can be cured with therapy and those who aren't cured should be executed because they are possibly dangerous. Everyone deserves a second chance in my opinion.
Run set aside ? That's a terribly vague statement. As for the op laws exist to protect the weak from the strong. They stop a myriad of evils being unleashed. As for your " provoked " argument that's a festering turd of an justification. Being provoked isn't a reason for killing someone let alone **** or other actions against a person. Yes people deserve a chance to learn from their mistakes but no one commits murder as a first mistake.
Being vague is a specialty. You sure are calmed over this online debate full of weirdos with their bombastic ideas.
really now, so people like a certain censored Austrian dictator deserve a second chance for knowingly killing 6 million plus people and subjecting them to torture and abuse etc. Stalin, Pol pot, that Italian one whose name escapes me at this time, they are all worthy of a second chance? That's absolutely unfathomable. Regardless is mental illness can be cured by therapy or not, they took someone's life, they deserve to pay a price for the life they took. The person they killed will never get a second chance at life. Your logic is flawed.
Hell no op ur an idiot. Personally i think all murders should get life. A stable person doesnt just kill anyone for any reason.
Criminals exist. Some people deserve to die for certain crimes. Punishment should fit the crime and circumstances should be considered during sentencing. Once a sentence has been served, people should get their rights back and be given the opportunity to reintegrate into society. This is my biggest problem with U.S. justice system, aside from the law not being applied equally. We want felons to become productive citizens, but we purposely make it difficult for them to do so. I also have a problem with the for profit prison system. Punishment is the responsibility of the State, acting as the representative of the citizens. We're not talking about contracting to build roads here. We're talking about fellow citizens that are in the custody of the State and are legally wards of the State. That's a serious responsibility. The State should not be delegating that responsibly to a private for profit company. For one, it's not demonstrably more cost-effective or more efficient than public prisons and there is increasing evidence that prisoners are being abused and having rights violated. How do you think they get a higher profit margin than Exxon? Secondly, it creates a conflict of interest when these same companies then lobby for stricter laws and increased punishment. It also leads to things like this: Former judge sentenced to prison for "kids for cash" scheme http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/ ... KG20110811 That's just one we know about. I'm sure there are more. In short, if we as a society are going to punish people, then we as a society should be responsible for carrying out that punishment and not delegate our responsibility to Walmart. More later. I have chores.
Op let me ask you a question. Say I murdered 3 people, robbed a bank, and raped a child. But then I say to the court "oh, I have schizophrenia and I have given the money back to the bank." Should I automatically be let off Scott free? To help you answer the question, alcoholics are offered therapy. But they are not forced. The choice for them is this: go to therapy and help yourself get better, or there's a warrant on your back.
Op I've a question for you . Do you think prison should be viewed as a punishment or as a place to rehabilitate those who have broken the law ? That's somewhat key to your argument and wasn't addressed yet. Different countries have very different attitudes to Crime and punishment. Some countries will execute you for simple things that aren't crimes in the USA or Europe.
It's like having an entire room of toilets, yet you choose to use the one next to someone else. It's not illegal, it just shows you're a ****.
Most stupidest thing I've ever heard... If they take someone's life, they shouldn't have a life either. It's unfair. And robberies... You have no idea... People get mental issues from those. So just stop talking.
Exactly. "Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn." Evil exists in the world. People like Joesph Kony and Joaquín Guzmán deserve to die. You don't try to reason with them or rehabilitate them. You eliminate them. I don't care if they're insane or suffering from a mental disorder. I don't care if they were abused. The scope of their crime warrants death. Do some people on death row deserve to be spared? Yes. Evidence indicates we do execute innocent people. One study says about 4%, or 1 out 25 people executed were innocent. There's a variety of factors involved. Poor legal representation. Almost all defendants in capital cases can't afford an attorney. They have public defenders, usually overworked, underpaid, and often inexperienced. Wealthy people who can hire good lawyers rarely get the death penalty. Poor people do. That's true for most crimes. People who can afford a good lawyer almost always receive a lighter sentence than those who can't. Then there's the fact that prosecutors decide whether or not to seek the death penalty which makes it a lottery. Kill someone popular or well liked in a community, chances are you're going to die. Kill someone nobody cares about or everyone dislikes, and chances are you won't. Race plays a role as well. Who gets killed and who's doing the killing. Prosecutors seek the death penalty far more frequently when the victim of a homicide is white than when the victim is black or other minority. Since the death penalty was was re-instated in 1976, 269 black defendants have been executed for killing someone who is white. Only 20 white people have been executed for killing a black person. Florida has executed 84 people since 1976. Florida has never executed a white person for killing a black person. Not one. This is the state with a "Stand Your Ground" law that says "an individual has no duty to retreat from any place they have lawful right to be and may use any level of force, including lethal, if they reasonably believe they face an imminent and immediate threat of serious bodily harm or death." yet sentenced a black female domestic violence survivor to 20 years for shooting a gun into a wall to scare off her abusive husband. But I digress. This is the problem with the death penalty. It's arbitrary, discriminatory, and inconsistent. Like I said, I think some people deserve to die for their crimes. But if we're going to have a death penalty, then it needs to be imposed fairly and with reasonable consistency, or we need to stop calling it justice. Because it ain't.
Look yes everyone DOES deserve a long happy life. But listen to this how can WE live a happy life if there are others messing it up??
I only agree with the death sentences when its something really extreme and its not for revenge its to benfit the COUNTRY NOT FOR REVENGE
Interesting how you added that in. I guess people who do that do deserve a choice but attending therapy and taking medications would allow them to not be charged- unless, of course, they quit their medications and committed another crime.
