Conservative. Liberal. Why we are what we are.

  1. Note: "For the first time"

  2. In any case, both sides of the question of the DSM and homosexuality have been presented. I wish not to discuss it further. I will answer clarifying questions as needed, but i leave it up to our audience members to decide for themselves how to feel about this issue.

  3. I prefer to think it went the other way. The evidence was valid, so they voted accordingly.

Anyway, it's time to put the nail in the coffin of this line of justification. The question of whether or not homosexuality is a psychological disorder is IRRELEVANT to the issue. Here's why.

A psychological disorder or mental disease is not a disqualifying condition for marriage. We allow people with all kinds of psychological disorders to marry. Schizophrenics, manic depressives, bi polars, pyromaniacs, kleptomaniacs, Munchausen syndrome, the list goes on and on. Hell, we even allow psychopaths and homicidal manics to get married. Charles Manson got married in prison. Paul Bernardo up in Canada is set to get married soon and he's doing two life sentences. Clearly, a psychological disorder is not a disqualifying condition for marriage.

So why are people trying to say it is when it comes to homosexuality? It's bull crap. It's just another lame attempt to try and stigmatize gays and justify discrimination.

  4. Homosexuals have the right to marry.

  5. And when they have the right to marry other consenting adults instead of having their rights restricted, there will be equality.

  6. in about 33 states (grin) yaaaaaayyyyyyyy thanx for the support (giggle)

  7. I love you

  8. I just spent over an hour reading and trying to catch up on this thread. I had an epiphany.

If humans would learn how to mind their own business, being gay wouldn't be as big of an issue as it is. But their is this embedded need to "fix" people who's lives don't exactly match ours. This can be said for racism as well. Who cares what color your skin is.

Obviously, lots of people still do.

Over the last 10 years of my life, I've sensed a greater acceptance of race and sexual preference.

But, the voting public, when asked to vote on gay rights, are given a right to judge another human. It should not be that way IMO.

But it is. And its slowly evolving.

    And I am conservative.

  9. They already do

  10. They have the right to marry in all 50 states.

  11. Gay marriage confusion.

  12. Only if they marry someone they don't love cheese. That's a fairly important part of a good marriage.

  13. Anyone who thinks politicians have "the peoples" best interests in mind are delusional. They diversify the country with the illusion of free choice (right

  14. This was my point earlier. Homosexuals want extra rights that no one else can have.

Because they think they deserve special treatment.

  15. What are you talking about?

  16. There are I think 7 states which don't allow same sex marriage at the moment.

Saying that they can't get a civil union let alone a marriage because they are the same sex isn't equality.
It's saying one part of the population doesn't deserve the same right as another part.
The same legal protections as any other couple wanting to be married should be enjoyed regardless of orientation of the couple.

  17. Gay people have the right to marry. They just cant marry someone of the same gender.

So they have the same rights as everyone else.

  18. The following is pretty biased but my speculation based on the information that I know.

The one thing I dislike about Republicans is the ignorance to science. Things such as evolution, psychology, and climate change are ignored and the Holy Bible is used as the basis for laws.

That's just my assumption. I think that a lack of understanding and common ground with other people can lead to anxiety. On the other hand, simply not exposing yourself or responding to these threats will not make you anxious.

I think that this article highlights how advertising and media really control the elections. By simply stating a story in the correct light, you can change the political stance of millions of people.

Another thing I want to point to is lunatic Jesse Ventura. He made a video on how he thinks the USA government is planning to kill all of its citizens and is making way too many coffins for everybody. More fear mongering. He became governor of a state in the USA as an independent.

I may be coming off as mean to Republicans, but I think that there is too much media bias and not enough understanding in the USA of Islam for people to really come to terms with reality. What I mean to say is: FOX NEWS IS A FEAR-MONGERER. This leads to political divisions and the right wing moving ever further right

This is exemplified by (some) Fox News anchors/reporters advocating for a complete quarantine of West Africa, despite the fact that the CDC had announced on multiple occasions that there was no need for it.

With this fear-mongering you're going to see a constant shift towards the right within some parts of the Republican Party. This is aided by terrorist attacks and Russian sword-rattling and Chinese diplomatic expansion. There are also mass-shootings. You also have radicals such as Phil Robertson who believes all Muslims should be converted to Christianity or be executed and who believes that gay people are evil. All of this is covered by the news media as an attention-grabbing method to scare people.

So what do I think should happen to bring Americans together?

    -educate people better
    -encourage people to research topics
-ban religion in government practices (including court and speeches)
-give less power to the media
-redistribution of wealth? (If minimum wage kept up with inflation since the 70's, it would be $26 per hour. I think this would give less power to media)
-cultural/religious integration and understanding (eg: Islam is hated in USA, despite being a peaceful religion)
-imprison Dr. Oz for lying to millions of people.

In short: fear mongering, exposition to negative events, lack of understanding, and false information within the media have caused conservatives to become more conservative, in contrast with recent social reforms/ideas in the past 13 years which has divided American politics.

  19. @Cheese

While they have the same rights, they do not have equal rights.

While straight people are legally allowed to marry people in which they are sexually oriented towards, gay people are not allowed to marry people that they are sexually oriented towards.

  20. And i cant stab pEople i dont like in the eyeball with a dull rusty butterknife.

    Life's not fair, ya know?
