Imagine there's war and nobody participates... Beautiful story, thanks for the read. I have been visiting our American War Cemetary, basically only populated by WWII soldiers who died during the Battle of the Bulge. Extremely depressing to see 18 year olds that died on Christmas 44...
Great thread! Truly a great story that can bring a smile to anyone's face whether you celebrate Christmas or not
Sainsbury's has a Christmas ad about this. The feels are uber strong  So good. Must watch. Many tears.
Love the way it is filmed. Disgusted it is used as a commercial. Real War should never be used to advertise. It dishonours the memory of those who fought, died and managed to for a moment find peace at the worst of times.
Saw this in a theatre play about the great war very recently. One of the most touching stories ever. Once read about the daily toll on those battlefields and the resulting gains measured in yards... silly. The tactics were to simply exhaust the opposite side by reducing its manpower to zero before one's would reach it. And that war was kept alive just for business reasons...
I actually remember this in my textbooks. It is nice to see that even thru a brutal war, people can cf for a few days to celebrate Christmas
