Build Wars... Again

  1. As far as I understand it, this type of War makes your current build disappear. You get some amount of gold, and completely empty lands.

    Wow, this sounds exactly like a... reset? Except your old build is saved somewhere?

    Also, I heard the suggestion that you would be limited to certain types of builds. Like "no Towers". I mean, certain buildings are disallowed or locked? We don't have that in KaW already, do we? Oh wait... you mean like how you need to explore 9 lands to unlock Tier 2, 16 to get to Tier 3, etc? The buildings that were LOCKED before a certain requirement was met?

    A lot of the functions described here are already present in one form or another in existing stages of the game. Assuming that the Devs did not hard-code a series of specific actions and made their code very versatile, changing and manipulating, not a total re-write, would be a more accurate way to describe the project. Now, I don't know how KaW is coded, so I can't really say, this is all in a hypothetical sense, much like your "do you know how hard coding something like this is" question.

    TBH if this were to be implemented, my money on "bugs" would be the porting between existing build to a "Build War" setup and back again. I can see issues with buildings remaining locked or not being locked properly, lands not replacing correctly, etc. If there are bugs, these will likely be the ones most tested for and/or actually present. Calling it now.

  3. No, I understand what you meant. The fact that I was trying to point out was, there exists a mechanism already for "locking" or preventing the building of certain buildings.

    ATM, it is used as a "lock and unlock" method after clearing a certain amount of land, but as long as it's not coded in a very rigid manner, the same "lock" system could easily be used in doing what you suggested in blocking some buildings from being used entirely. Basically, "lock", with no method to unlock until the War is over and/or normal builds restored.

    The main point of my post was to point out that coding it may not be as difficult as you (Unknown) think because existing functions resemble those that you would like to see in this "Build War" format.

    I like this idea tbh. More strategic thinking involved.

    Also, I'd have to say I support the "set allies" idea as well. It's completely unfair to pit different BFA against each other and still expect a fair fight if money allocated is equal but BFA is not.
     
  4. They could make it so u could log into another server so that they can prevent a huge crash for everyone and so what they do there doesn't affect everyone else. I'm just guessing this will work based of some other games I play.
