It takes the same amount of strips for any amount above a few bil. They can make that money easily by doing back to back escapes over multiple people, not just one person. If you have anymore questions, you can ask around WC or something.
Take a guess. He was sleeping. He didn't know any alliance planned to strip him. How else? We are all human, we all sleep, you think he's on Kaw every second?
If the target isn't expecting it, you could even talk to them in PM until they say they need to go sleep. It's not hard to strip someone if they don't know it's coming. You would have to be an idiot to not clear him.
