I really like that idea about sponsoring players. Although easily exploited.

 

In all seriousness, I would recomend Sholron as a VK. (S)he has been around a very long time, knows the mechanics, and is an all round friendly person.

IMO, this is a decent start to increasing retention - you've said it yourselves devs, that this is a social app with a gaming aspect.

The next step IMO is setting up mentors or the like. Based on my years in various subclans, retention is much higher on the people who have the focus of somebody who knows what they're doing than those who are mostly ignored.

There needs to be communication between the new players and the "vets", to help the new players get hooked into the game.

Another game i played had a mentor system, it'd help a bunch here's a proposition:

Mentors or those who want to be can apply to be a mentor, then an apprentice (new player) is directed to this page. Here is a list of some possible mentors. They can then choose their own mentor and he can help them in mentor chat. The mentor may also receive personal rewards for mentoring so many ppl (with a max of something like 5 at a time of course). This would make mentors want to help more to get something like an achievement and apprentices would be helped to grow. Once the apprentice hits the HL they will be automatically dropped, or a mentor can drop if they are being inactive.
