I wouldn't say sacrifice on reliability (again on the high end devices) But there are new Android phones using Gingerbread for low end pay as you go devices. We just need Todd to realize that while he is right about Apple being better than Android phones that were never intended to compete with the iPhone. But any of the ones in the same price point often hands down more than compete and often fly past the deteriorated fruit.
Not only that but Apple responsible for first successful touchscreen lamp Guess he doesn't know about Palm Pilot n those phones that ran the Palm pilot OS. Yes it's dead now but it was the business choice before BlackBerry siege into the business market
PERFECT! Your finally saying in your experience (albeit limited) Which is why your generalization is poor. Because of the larger market Android targets n volume of models. You would still be trying Android at all 3 tiers low mid n high. Android phones meant to compete with iPhones do not suck. Same with IPhones don't suck either. Now as Stan Lee would say.... Nuff'said
Now folks that Todd has posted enough fragments I will post it like he should have. ***Todd if you take your time & organise your posts; you would find ppl will respect not only your viewpoint & you as well. "Todd interpetation" I think Android sucks vs Apple because: +Android targets to large of user space space: From low end to high end models. This causes a very inconsistent user experience. Makes it harder to make the "right" choice. Android's ability to offer customization also lends to inconsistent user experience as many manufacturers offer customized user interfaces (Touchwiz, HTC sense etc) Because of the phones I used from the Android offerings. I found each time, I was underwhelmed due to lag from some with bloated interfaces n poor signal conductivity. I prefer Apple because having owned IPod touches and such; there was little to no learning curve. My user experience is the same whether it's an IPhone or iPad. While Apple is often behind in hardware adopting (ie latest cpu n such); Because of this restricted hardware profile. IOS can and is better optimized as the kernel is smaller n need not support a massive hardware list. This as a positive side effect for program developers makes it easier to code apps n games. Also due to Apple being the only maker of the iPhone. I don't have to be concerned with say Samsung offering me the option to upgrade or AndroidOS 7. As Many manufacturers have customized the OS and may not upgrade their modded Android to the next level. Yes it would be nice for Apple not to gouge us by overpaying for the option of more storage space. But it's a price I am willing to pay!
There's also something that you all might want to consider. Application updates. On the Google play store, developers have to keep updating to fix bugs on certain devices, etc when they decide to update their app or Google decides to release a new operating system. On the other hand apple devices don't have much variety, so bugs, etc are easier to fix.
Interesting thoughts here I have to disagree on some points though. I've never experienced lag (other than lag related to bad signal) I don't know anyone else that seems to suffer more lag due to being Android either. But I can understand that in the lower range phone it'll never be as efficient as their high end phones. Also, Androids ability to offer more customization is what (I think) sets it apart from Apple. It shouldn't offer inconsistent user experience cause you have a bigger customization range. I guess using an Apple product is simpler because their interfaces are all the same. It's good but one of the reasons I chose Android...I like the customization and how they're, different, for lack of a better word. And Todd, still interested (and waiting) to see those satellite images
Mentioned that in my Todd interpretation lol Tho I myself prefer Android due to offer of choice. Now if you buy a vanilla Android like Google's sponsored Nexus upgrading to fastest Android a breeze
I agree with you. I prefer the option to customize the experience and myself have not experienced lag. I presumed Todd has used bargain Android phones that are lower spec devices. Since I know for a fact mid to hi end Android devices blaze along; except when signal poor by provider (whether cell or WiFi) But Apple does understand that a lot of ppl are resistant go big changes and why they use the bland interface on there portables. Simple folk have trouble learning new things
Agreed, Helio! You'll never get great functionality for a cheap low end phone, be that Android or any other operating system. I can understand why iPhone has stayed relatively the same. It still looks pretty good.
The only reason idevice software/apps are so optimized is because they wont risk time being innovative against companies like Lg, Samsung, ect, cause they cant. Next update they probably with optimize their optimising. That new touch feature, its been in the droid api since andriod 2.0. Yeah, since 2.0. Droid manufacturers chose to pass on the feature until recently. Apple could have maintained their status for having the best built in camera, but they didn't. Android doesnt doesnt look to apple for cuting edge development. As for Tod's article he posted, he must not of read it. It took the top 11% of the wealthiest people and labeled them rich. The other 89% of the words rich must not have phones or they are now consider poor. That must have been hard to find a way to not directly insult the upper and middle class. Seriously, that was the dumbest article ive ever seen. Honestly, apple's idevice lives off its logo. Thats it. Oh, and the fact that apple caters to those who need it as simple as possible so they can do basic functions. I guess that explains the top 11% of the worlds most richest owning them.
Ok, android vs ios. I am handling both. I really like both ideas but whats the real difference? In first it starts with the point i didnt had to restart my iphone for the last 3 month. Every android device i have i need to restart at least once every 2 days (if it not hangs up himself). True high end android devices are build with newer "better" technology but that also causes problems and limits cause android has to work for several 100-1000 different devices and the apps too. True android has much more possibilities to personalize the "desktop". True idevices are jailed und much things are not possible cause of apple restrictions. I think none of them "loose" the war. You need fast working device? Get android You need a stable working device? Get ios I prefer ios cause i cant even remember when i had any real issues with ios or the device. I still have an iphone 4. Its in use since the first day it camed on the market and it works and works. Aku top, still doing all i need (want) and even the 200 times it felled down the table/stairs/bar/chair hasn't even broke the display (yes my devices have a hard live). My last android was a samsung s4. After about 3 month it got a free flight out of the window. Why? Cause it crashed at night and no alarm startet. However, both systems are quite good. The decission isnt about fashion, its about what you need. Hope my english isnt to bad to understand
Android devices need to be restarted every 2 days? Not sure where you get your data from. I haven't restarted for a month. All this is heresay and not solid proof. You have players just voicing highly opiniated and bias filled statements. Android devices are as stable as iCrap, if not more.
I can only speak from personal experience also...but I've never had to restart my android that frequently. Not even close to that frequently. Which android phone was this? Yep still got a working android from 2010/2011.
Your right on most of your points. But if your having to reboot your Android every 2 days means you have a bad/defective device. My old HTC Desire HD running gingerbread still works fine (as good as when bought) -tho last Kaw update unstable crashes a few times on startup Keep in mind Android is a Linux flavour (uses Linux kernel) But it is true it's easier to dev software on limited hardware profile opposed to broad spectrum of hardware. So Stability Android vs IOs Apple Wins due to 1 manufacturer Android is just as stable if you research n choose the "right" device
