2Yrs which mean you're probably at limits of it with in the next year. I didn't say they were obsolete instantly, but Apple purposely forces you to buy a newer device every couple years by dropping app store support and updates after about 2-3yrs. My 1st,2nd and 3rd gen iPod touch all lost support, app store access etc. Most apps are no longer compatible and about the only way to use safari is to jail break it so it doesn't ask for updates. my wm8650 mentioned above is at least 5yrs old still getting updates, full access to Google play and rocking on.
@sasuke I don't know what the new notes are like but I loved my note 3 when I had it. I guess it's all what you like. I didn't know android made their own phones. I've not seen them at my att store.
The note 3 is an amazing device They're up to the 5 now. Basically a newer 3 nothing too amazing, lol. It's less "android" (as it's an operating system) and more like Google. Google do make their own devices and they are amazing. Pure Android, not some watered-down oem skin that's clunky like say... Samsung's touchwiz  If you ever plan to upgrade your device you could never go wrong with a Nexus
Android was developed by google and another group, OHA, actually. Many of those developers are now the ones who help root and write some of the popular roms. Its kinda the reason android is cool. You have a dedicated group constantly working to keep root access available, and the manufacturers that are constantly trying to lock it down. Granted not all manufacturers are, but quite a few though.
