I think you should have like a battle partner so that he can pin you with his spies I have never participated in EE so... Just my 2 cents worth
Moose was correct in saying steal to zero troops faster. Though I hate to do it ...if left with no other choice I attack a target that I know I can't hit with no pots so I lose greater troops. Only doing this when getting koed would lose a significant amount of gold
Assumimg ur hitting from ko use your spy troops first too, when u use ur attack troops ur broadcasting you're up.
