Activity metrics

  1. @Panda: so you can see who the item lurkers are, who the workhorses are (who actually do the EB killing) and who do a lot of actions while doing very little to finish the EB.

@HAV0C: I fail to see how that pertains.

  2. As long as they are active who cares....

  3. Because EB have a total drop yield that is divvied between the active participants. If it can be shown that certain builds yield a greater ration of gold to damage done then it logically follows that those members are less advantageous members.

By your logic, if activity is everything, then there should be no fussing about CS min. And yet 90% of clan ads in WC contain a CS min.

  4. Lol I said nothing of the sort but ok xD I ain't arguing lol this is just stupid

  5. And by that I mean arguing over a game lol

  6. just create something that is clan specific that can be purchased. clan buys certain building (Some type of War General Name) for nobs or xxxxxxxxxx amount of gold allowing specific view of clan members stats only.

  7. Panda, there's a difference between argument and debate. Until now, I've been debating.

    Thunder, that's an interesting solution.

  8. Ehhh don't feel much like debating either, bad headache atm

  9. I think Hav0c is brilliant! He never said after every eb FFS. He said once a day. Stop being lazy and asking devs to do all the work! 

  10. Being lazy?! The battle log doesn't even list every action. It is literally impossible to get numbers on damage done.

Yes, it's easy work. But it is stupid, stupid work. Anyone who works in databases knows that what we are doing is about the worst possible method for what we are trying to do as owner/admin. A simple select query can extract any number of EB data including damage, payout, etc, this is mere moments of effort compared to the hour of compiling data.

Maybe you like it, but i don't. There are also people who like wearing furry costumes while they engage in familial relations. I think it's bizarre and stupid but I won't disparage them for it. What other questionable habits do you have, Katniss?

  11. n8temills  so sad... Don't like the work.. Don't do it. Simple.

I have a dungeon in my basement with whips and chains and handcuffs. I keep a costume closet just for kicks. I also watch cartoons still pretend I am the characters. I sing in the shower.. Amongst other things. I also pick my nose. Any more brain busters? 

  12. TL;DR: I'd love more metrics too but that wouldn't be logistically or plausibly feasible. You seem like a clever fellow yourself so I'm sure that you can argue your case (about hansels being leeches) with the little evidence you already have to wield.

You're asking for data that the Devs deliberately obfuscate. I doubt that they would be open about the specifics involved with item drops, plunder, and EB rewards. Besides, it is well known that guild hansels are powerful little guys. There is a high demand for them in Estoc clans for their uniqueness. MyPouf has an excellent thread (found here) filled with intricate spreadsheets.

    Speaking of spreadsheets:
Using spreadsheets to track activity are permitted. When you try to fabricate an automatic method of "importing/pulling" data from KaW to another program then you're going into a grey area. The CST says that any program that automatically pulls data from the app (without their consent) is not permitted. Any transmission of information is best done manually to avoid culpability.

It really isn't that hard to manually compile the data. If the problem was as huge as you initially asserted in the OP then the "tedious" work would be well worth the effort.

Also, I wouldn't want it to be too easy to track activity during OSW. It's already hard to play dead and shake off trackers (especially with work, RL, and school to balance) but to have a robust historical metric to hide from would be overkill. I'm going to have to work harder because you're too lazy to create an Excel spreadsheet; that's absurd.

I feel that your request, albeit decent, isn't significant enough to implement. Tracking PvE activity is important for EB clans but for others it isn't. OSW clans would love other things like tracking ally sales and sleep patterns. EE clans, ally traders, FF authors, barcodes, forum warriors, RP cat clans etc... we all have our own version of KaW. We all play differently and have our own KaW-priorities. We're simultaneously asking for disparate features. Sometimes they conflict with another players' version of KaW.

With all due respect, I don't see how "dire" this proposed feature will be and I'm indifferent to it's realization. Good luck OP. :p

  13. Katniss, it's simple to tease and belittle, but it doesn't work very well on some folks. You have a good imagination, though... with the exception of your KaW handle.

Amigo, that is a well thought-out reply and I thank you for the effort. I would assert that hansels are only any good because they are DTW to anyone of any moderate strength. I could could go on and on with anecdotal evidence but that's for another thread. I feel you're spot on with your assertions and for the most part I'm fine with ATA obfuscating their data so as to disallow insights into their algorithms ( 5 internets for you using "obfuscate" in a sentence).

Then maybe I could suggest something simple that drives toward solving one of the issues: inactives/barely actives in EB clans: instead of "active" or "inactive", have an activity percentage. I would be forgoing my quest against the hated hansel who are recipients of the KaW equivalent of affirmative action if I could just easily cull a clan of deadbeats.

    BTW: "TL;DR" ? I don't believe you.

  14. OP you are truly too kind!  Hope everything works out for you. Suggestion though: Don't hold your breath.

  15. As far as activity vs size: Activity is king, but they have to be big enough to do some damage.

As far as spy builds being leeches... lol. You do realize that for every 2 attacks you do, you get 3 assassinate actions? It really does add up. Guild hansels are pretty much leeches (except vs ambush) but SOS/Volary spies do more damage than you realize.

  16. Reeb, I did say hansel, I meant guild hansel, in my heart. Deeply.  And yes, I'm aware they get 50% more actions when assassinating. But guild hansels do squat for damage unless they fully mith and pot up.

  17. This sounds like ata needs to put an ERA on everyone. I'm ok with that, jus sayin.

  18. LOL OP, when I said TL;DR I was referring to my own post. I knew that it was lengthy and prefaced it with a convenient synopsis incase someone didn't want to muddle through my ramblings.

If it is any consolation, guild hansels do have one drawback (besides low CS) and it is the low probability of item drops in EBs. Before I get into any conspiracy theories I'll leave the thread link here (second paragraph first post). Other than those two downsides GH make a great build.

  19. DaPrec, some people here don't know about pitching stats, but yeah, it would be nice to have a quick number to look at instead of going by gut instinct.

Amigo, I welcome a well-thought response in lieu of the typical "why don't you just try method x?" when I already spent a good amount of time detailing why "method x" is left wanting in some ways.
