I just plan on being faster than the people next to me.

Kinda like, you dont have to be able to swim faster than a shark. You just have to be able to swim faster than the person next to you.

  4. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

Cons of your or anyone who uses a weapon.
    Loud noises
    ammo consumption
    limited training/experience for most people.
    lowsy shots.

    Use a shaoilin spade

Exactly why you need something like a Machete, or Knife. Preferably a Kabal Combat Knife.

But there are times when there is no alternative to using a gun, and for those of us that know how to use them accurately, we need them. A last resort, maybe, but an absolute necessity.

Zethor, a well made samurai sword would be vastly superior to a machete as a melee weapon. It's value versus a machete and or a survival knife for overall functionality is another debate.

Machete is a hacking or chopping only weapon, a katana is useful in both slashing, hacking and stabbing. In the Second World War, it was not unknown for a Japanese sword to actually slice through a rifle barrel. Some of the steel in those weapons was folded over 400 times creating a weapon that was incredibly strong and flexible.

Do a little research, katana was the long sword used in battle, the wakazashi? (Spelling?) was a shorter blade meant for the off hand or close/tight quarters as well as ritual suicide. The curve of the katana was subtle, but noticeable. It's purpose was to help prevent the weapon from getting stuck as it cut off your head, arm or leg.

So, if your considering actually learning a martial wedged weapon, pick one that was actually designed for war and killing, not one designed for clearing brush.

    For what it's worth. D

The Machete takes the cake for overall functionality. It can be a tool, as well as a weapon.
The Machete I am talking about also stabs, quite well.
Look up the one in The Book of Eli.
Same for a knife, which has far better stabbing capability than the Sword.

Both of those weapons take little training to use, for somebody who hasn't prepared for the apocalypse.
Most Samurai Swords/Katana's, take training, and lots of money to buy a quality one. If you get a replica, then It will likely fall apart.

Assuming you have training, and a good sword, chopping 15 zombie heads off is extremely hard. There is muscle, tendons, bone, skin, and several other layers there. Your sword will likely get stuck on swing 5, and the rest of the zombies will eat you.

If you CAN chop 15 zombie heads off with the sword, you are superman and you need to stop showing off.

Finding a quality sword DURING the apocalypse will be near to impossible. Machete's and Knives will be far more common.

Also, as neat as they are, they can be far more cumersome than a Combat/Utility Knife or Machete.

And a combat knife can be used to kill zombies, skin a deer, cut a rope, sew a wound, cauterize a wound, etc. A sword can be used for killing, and the slicing is easier than the stabbing, which to the skull with one, is quite hard. It's unlikely that the sword will pass right through the skull bone, and into the brain, unless you go through the eye, an expert shot, or from below the chin, also an expert shot.

In quantity, quality, functionality, and size, Machete's and Knives win, in my opinion. Nothin stopping you from carrying both either. You should always have a Kabal on you, in addition to you melee weapon.

No shaolin spade. Very long to keep them away and a blades head to cut theirs off

  9. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

Another thing that is hard to come by.

And although it definitely has it's merits, it's just too rare.

  10. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

. If a zombie apocalypse happens it will last for about an hour. what if it starts on hawi. zombies can't swim. how they gonna get to other countries. They are dead skin. dead skin roys

  12. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

Let's play ruin the fun! Oh dang you already got a head start no fair. But seriously, if you don't think zombies will actually become reality then why are you even here? Do you have that much time on your hands?

  13. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

About as bad as this guy.

  14. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

I'm not talking the highly unrealistic undead zombies. I mean some sort of infected type, similar to 28 Days later, or World War Z the movie.

Theoretically, there ARE ways that this could happen. Some sort of brain parasite that shuts down everything but base instincts, and enough organs to keep you walking around.

Or even crazed cannibalistic humans, as a result of some chemical attack, the disease transferred through contact with contaminated blood.

  15. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

your favorite character in the walking dead probably died too.

  16. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

He strikes me as a Sophia guy.

  17. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

This seems warranting of a Necrobump.

I recently was able to test out a few weapons on a couple ZGB Ivan heads I purchased. I can safely say, the things are awesome.

I tried a Normal Hammer, Axe, Philippine Machete, a dirt Cheap Z-Hunter ZB-103 Knife, and a Rinaldi.

I can safely say, I like the Machete best. It slice quite well, and with enough force, cuts beautifully clean sections of skull off.

The least favorite was the ZB-103. Look it up. It's cumbersome, Useless for stabbing, terrible for throwing, and awful for slicing. Use it for steak, rather than Zeds.

I also shot the third Ivan with various different weapons I own. Let me say, .38 Special Destroys this thing.

  18. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

Lets just say that there is no virus or illness that could and would ever mimic the alleged zombie affect.
Sorry it's nice for movies. But any contamination that spreads via a bite or body fluids to illicit such changes would destroy neural pathways killing the host.

So my survival plan is simply, to let them die within 24 hours of infection within tightly controlled quarantine conditions.

  19. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

I used a machete before. Lots of fun. Pick axes are fun too.

  20. Re: A Zombie Discussion with Zeth

Again, this just completely depends on what your definition is.
A Rage Virus esque outbreak is far more likely than walking corpses.
