A very worrying situation.

  1. Very true, Turkey has a rather large standing army that is much more modern than many others, it may not be as technologically advanced as key nato members e.g. US, France and the UK but it's more than advanced enough to deal with Russia's mostly outdated military.

As for the EU, it is primarily economical but the EU also has an agreement in it that pretty much says an attack on one member state is an attack on the entire EU.

  2. The russian jet was shot down allegedly after it intruded over Turkish air space.
The following are images of maps provided by the Turkish and the Russians of the alleged flight path.

Now assuming the Turkish are correct the russian plane was over Turkish air space for approximately 51 seconds if it had been flying at combat speed. This due to its crash site 4km away in Syria would suggest it was, and that depending on how you look at the scenario the russian plane was flying out of Turkish airspace by the time a first warning would have been issued.
If you consider that the russian plane at approx 200mph would of entered Turkish air space on the trajectory shown, the Turkish fighter plane already being airborne in order to do an immediate intercept, allegedly 3 warnings issued ( in the space of 1.7 miles approximately 51 seconds) think to your self how long it takes to say " russian aircraft, you are violating Turkish airspace. Change heading to ----- immediately or you will be fired upon ". That's approximately 30 seconds ( allowing for 3 times as claimed ) and the russian aircraft is now 1 mile over turkey on a straight trajectory .7 miles from clearing Turkish airspace, there is a case that you can claim the russian aircraft was already leaving Turkish airspace.

So the case is, was this a simple over reaction that was not needed?
Or was it turkey deliberately sending Russia a message to stop bombing rebel fighters who are at war against the Assad regime.

For devils advocate this is the russian released map. The pink line showing the border.
Here no violation was shown. Blue aircraft is the Turkish fighter. Red russian.

Also regarding the russian incursions into uk airspace these have gone on for years also against other NATO countries and unfortunately it was just a matter of time and who would be the first to shoot down a russian aircraft.
The Russians have been playing silly games and set themselves up for this.
But you could also argue that this is a deliberate attempt to provoke conflict with another nation they see as a threat.
The last part though assumes a lot.
NATO and Russia need to start working together more closely in dealing with isil and other threats or isil will get exactly what they want.
Now is definitely not the time for hot heads and flared tempers.

  3. Terrorists are terrorists ....... I don't understand why people are blaming muslims? This is racism

  4. No blaming all Muslims is islamophobic at best.
Muslims aren't a racial grouping it's a religious group one made of great variations of faith and tolerance.
Blaming all Muslims for terrorists is like blaming all Christians for the Klan or Westboro baptist.

  5. Looks like Putin will be having Turkey for Christmas :D

  6. We all know Turkey are ISIS sympathizers .They of all ppl shd know that the Russians are targetting the extremists at Syria and they choose to do such a silly thing.God help them when Russia exacts their revenge.

  7. You mean God help the world*

One of Moscow's most respected military analysts said war was 'most likely'. Pavel Felgenhauer said Turkey was seeking to protect an area in northern Syria controlled by its allies, the Turkmen.

The analyst said Mr Putin must either accept this zone 'or start a war with Turkey' which it could win only by going nuclear.

  8. Its pretty clear russia/china/syria/middle east vs usa/europe/australia/north america/japan/south korea .....Africa and south america will just continue on being useless wastes of space

  9. Syria isn't even worth mentioning, will just be one of the battlegrounds if it escalates

  10. I'm going to be nuking a Turkey at xmas

  11. Looks like NATO will not be backing Turkey

  12. Russia will respond covertly, they are stupid
