No v, but the Munich agreement was the diplomatic resolution to German aggression, basically handing over allied land to attempt to prevent a the world war that happened anyway. Czech and Austria were both allies of the main European powers at the time (France the UK)
Turkey is part of NATO which Russia is not it's a complicated one and the actions of Putin in the 24-48 hrs could spark a whole world of
Turkey will get spanked, everyone knows Turkey is pretending to fight Isis while their really fighting the Kurds, also Turkey is buying oil from Isis at a rate of $1.5million per day funding isis, the Kurds are also selling arms (that they get from the us) to isis
Turkey won't get eu backing, they will be told to apologize or their on their own for poking the Russian bear with an oil/blood soaked stick
More comparing that big countries will allow small countries to be 'absorbed' or cut up to try to appease aggressive nations, than an actual comparison of treaties mate
Turkey isn't really a small country tho, they have a large military that would be dangerous even for a country like Russia to take action against
Sounds like a recon mission gone bad too me, doubt it will end in war tho. & I don't want to draw attention to isis but while not recognised by the UN, it has its own governance of a caliphate (who must have land to maintain status) and millions of overzealous ppl living on what they claim are his lands. It's the same as how China took over tibet & tibet is not recognised by the UN, just the opposite extreme in terms of culture. Don't fool yourselves, this is no al-quaida, they are next level terrorists taking large expanses focused in syria. The world's always going to hell tho, not much you can do but try to help those that fall at your feet
In ww2 the Japanese soldiers would Without question blow themselves up and their enemies in honour and support of their country and war effort. You cannot , and never will be able to cow a people so willing to die for their cause. It took 2 atomic blasts devastating that country to end the war against Japan. Today... The jihadists have the same conviction. Bombing the hell out of Syria will achieve nothing but the death of mostly innocent and poor people, and create a hatred that will endure for years and years to come. Somebody is funding this current war. Somebody is putting guns and bombs in the hands of the jihadists. These are the true enemy that need to be focussed on in my opinion. Just as the u.s bled Russia dry of resources during the Cold War. The u.s and coalition need to cut the money funding them and leave them with only sticks and rocks. Muslims, Syria . They are not our enemies. The people funding them are.
Ok since you got that wrong let's try again. The Austrians were absorbed by Germany in a populist move to unite the German speaking peoples. The Czechoslovakians got railroaded into losing the German speaking areas of their relatively new country when the corporal pushed hard and the British and French both blinked. Austria wasn't an " ally " of either Britain or France the Czechs were allies but got shafted in an effort to maintain the peace.
The UK has already pledged military back up for Turkey and has 12 typhoon jets on standby to deal with and revenge attacks against Turkey by russia. Looks like the biggest military power in the EU just backed them.
No way in hell will uk go against Russia, let alone back Turkey over a 17 second deviation of a Russian jet
On a side note, there are now 18 Russian military vessels in the Med near syria, argument being Russia are prepping for troop deployment
The U.K. As part of NATO has already backed Turkey. Russia may have a much larger military than the UK, but the UK 1. Has (mostly) more advanced military and training, and 2. Wouldn't be acting alone. To v and serpentino, apologies, I was wrong about Austria. Regardless of how new a country Czech was, it was still carved up by more powerful countries to attempt to placate a certain individual.
the RAF released a statement that if it was in UK airspace they also would of shot down the jet. As for the UK backing Turkey, of course they were going to back them due to them being part of nato and others will also back them Britain is just one of the first to act. probably due to the fact that Russia wouldn't want to go to war with a country like the UK Just as much as the UK wouldn't want a war with them, russia couldn't afford to fight a large scale war against a technologically superior island nation and Turkey at the same time.
While it's good uk has said it would back its allied country it's worth remembering that turkey isn't a walk over they've got a substantial military with considerable technology. All the counties of nato have good technology and training it's a requirement for membership. As for the EU it's worth remembering that's not a military alliance it's an economic one. That said the prime movers in the EU Are also prominent in NATO France Germany Holland Spain Austria the UK.
