Actually, I believe in intelligent design. It means that God created evolution, Big Bang, etc. and used them as tools of creation.
I see how you're trying to avoid a religious debate here. Not gonna work... But anyway, I believe that the traditional idea of zombies is impossible. However, I reckon some micro-organism like Cordyceps (see BBC Planet Earth clip, The Last of Us and the Vsauce3 Youtube video: 'Could we be The Last of Us?') could dull human emotions and other complicated things into an animalistic/vegetable-type state. Do I think Jesus rose from the dead? No, I'm an atheist. Do I see similarities between the Bible's representation of Jesus' resurrection and traditional zombie stories? Yes. Although Jesus' body would have been pretty fresh and he was supposed to still be intelligent.... So, not really.
Because creation/Jesus miracles etc. are debatable. There is sense in saying a god created the universe. However, there is none in denying evolution. The evidence cannot be denied.
Jesus was supposedly a sacrifice, yes? Wouldn't it be odd if he died and went to heaven, only to be raised from the dead to ascend to heaven once more? Imagine, the son of God tormented in hell for a few days, wouldn't that be worth more to the Devil than the lives of many men? So a little trade was made, Jesus's life for the lives of many. That's what the book seems to say, anyways. Anyways, for the questions in the beginning, I believe zombies are a possibility, but not quite as the media traditionally tends to portray them. More like what the fellow before me said, with cordyceps and the like taking over. Jesus did seem to exist with all the ancient writings and stories, but as a supernatural being or a regular man is what's most debated. So I'm a bit iffy on the possibility of an actual resurrection, or just another story. If he was indeed the son of God, and he had the ability to bring people back from the dead, they'd likely be restored to full functionality and intelligence like Lazarus. I'd believe it would be the same for Jesus. While traditional zombies are different, they lose emotion, intelligence, becoming mindless organisms that can do only a limited amount of things while their bodies continue to decay.
So you're saying that your entire faith, instead of being based upon evidence and an educated belief, is instead based upon some glorified 'better safe than sorry' philisophy. Frankly, I don't want to go to the heaven of a god that thinks it's a crime to not believe in it even though it doesn't provide enough evidence to do so...
I think the evidence part is a matter of faith. You have to honestly believe that The Lord created the heavens, Earth, and every being that lives, lived, and will live in them. And that he loves each one. If you honestly believe in Him with your heart and soul, then you can make it to heaven, so long as you do good deeds out of the kindness of your heart. And even if you don't believe in God, like a Hindu or a Buddhist or even an atheist, but you do good deeds, then you'll make it to heaven. I think that if a Hindu does good things out of the kindness of his/her heart, they'll make it to heaven. Same with atheists, Buddhists, etc.. There's a Hindu quote I read a while ago. I'm not sure if it's the exact quotes, and it's from the Vedas (holy texts of Hinduism), and I'm not sure if this is the actual saying, but here it is- "God is one, but the wise know it by many names," I think the Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, etc. all worship basically the same God, just with a different name. And even though atheists don't believe, I think that as long as they do good things they'll make it to heaven.
god damn why can't you guys just accept that some people believe in this and others believe in that. You can't truly expect everyone to have an open mind. Believe what you want, don't force it upon others. Shame on all of you
The bible states that "god" made everything in 7 days. Doesn't say 7 earth days. As for zombies yes they exist. With the amount of drugs being dealt out to people nowadays and the effect they have. There are brainless people walking around the street. Quite like the a typical zombie in movies. Jesus quite possibly did come back to life some how. Maybe someone back then knew basic first aid or a precursor of. What should be discussed is the fishermens tale style stories in the bible. Jesus feeding people with loaves and fish. Maybe he fed 20, which was changed to 200 over time, then more time to 2000. There could be a lot of miraculous things that in reality happened but not to the extreme they are recorded as now.
I've always thought religion was a way to answer unanswered questions and fill in those gaps of knowledge we always ponder about. With the way our scientific knowledge is going, it's becoming hard to prove certain aspects of religion.
Ummm... Buddhists don't believe in a god either. Buddhism is a sub-set of atheism. It's a way of life, not a religion (definition of religion = 'The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.').
