Got to p11 and think I've read enough tbh. Existence of a god. It can't be proved, the only time it COULD be, is on your deathbed. Morals excited in society WAY before religions did. Society created morals. Society advanced morals. Not religion. Personally I don't believe in any of the current modern gods, especially the singular ones, however I'm always open to listen as long as it makes sense, "he has always been there" is about as illogical as "the universe has always been here"
although I disagree with the general principles behind religion due to the fact it goes against the ideas of my perspective on reality I do not have a problem with religion in particular. what I do have a problem with however is the body of religion people use to hide behind to promote their own agenda and use religion as a valid reason to enforce their view of living on to others which leads to divisions in the community which in 2015 is unwarranted and does not hold up a valid argument, such as the segregation of gays and their rights while it has been observed that being gay is natures response to population control. likewise there is clearly an issue in the definition of morality, morality is neither good nor bad it is simple the believe a person acts upon so to say "religion gives you morals" is true but misleading a more accurate term would be to promote ethical values and although this is correct it is pushed in such a negative way that it encourages resistance which suggests it is not the best solution. also when religion is used as grounds to push through progressive movements which might otherwise save lives religion and it's context is hypothesis long since disproven the idea of religion in itself is un-provable, we are all essentially agnostic however to raise a false answer has implications on research which may be beneficial even necessary to us but may otherwise contradict the answer raised by religion.

This is the line of thinking any athiest should have. Being one myself, and havig grown up a catholic - you have to admit their is a psycological benefit to the feeling of community and devotion that religion has. I personally have found that i can find that benefit through other paths - everyone is different though The problem i have with other athiests is that they seem to think that they are smarter than everyone else becAuse in their minds they figured out there isnt a god and everyone else is just sheep - and theyre arrogant about it I think if everyone just said "i respect your opinion or beliefs but i disagree with them " we'd all be in a better place *This "random thoughts while pooping " episode was brought to you by Quaker Oats.

There are people, like me, who follow a religion but still enjoy life and help others. Just because you're upset you didn't get your bacon, you made this completely and utterly ignorant post. The Bible says the world was formed in 7 days. Science said the world is millions of years old. But how do scientists know that? Did they count the blades of grass on the earth and divide by ten? The Bible isn't always supposed to be taken literally. So learn a bit before running your mouth.
So your argument is: While they were healthy and rational, they did not believe in any of that, but when they were dying, frail, and scared, they suddenly found the need to believe in a god and a heaven. Not the best argument for religion (and that's assuming that bunk about thier final confession in the first place).

Its called fear of the unknown. While you were taught as kids to fear god and heaven and hell as you grow older you learn for yourself what is fact and what is fiction(we'll leave it at that so the holy rollers hypocrites dont rise up) but then when you are about to die you think back to when you were a kid and think man i better make good with "god" now just in case...and besides ill feel better about my impending doom if i do so why not.
