  1. Skydiving cat represents the best of YOLO, but Scaredy Cat would debate that fear is in fact one of the few things which keeps him alive (to the power of nine).

He would also like to ask if it is better to try and fail, or to have never attempted it at all? For example, should the parachute fail?

  2. interweb catz claim another victim.

  3. i...can't...respond...scaredy cat...too...cute

  4. To scaredy cat: Yes, it is better to try and fail, rather than never trying at all. One of the best ways of learning is through your mistakes. Parachute fails? Well, you won't be failing one more time. You'll fail 8 more.

  5. Wiggle cat celebrates.

  6. I also second the motion of wiggle wiggle cats celebration

  7. don't celebrate victory yet. the walking dead reset my cute meter.

likes being warm but not THAT warm cat says that sometimes it is safer to jump than to not jump. who is to say what the consequences of NOT taking a risk are? how can you know that it is less safe to go skydiving than to not? perhaps not getting on that plane on that day means you will instead die horribly when a plane loaded with skydivers crashes into your house. the pilot was allergic to the cat that some loon brought on board to go sky diving with them.

    also this for some reason:

  8. That Dopey Cat's swag-o-meter is unreal and very, very distracting.

Bag Cat doesn't like to take chances. Soft kitty. Warm Kitty. Little ball of fur.

It is, as you say, the great unknown, further substantiating the claim that knowledge is limited. You can't know about the parachute, nor the plane crash. But even if you did know about both, and faced dying regardless, would it make the decision any easier? Or would you rather not know? If such ignorance is bliss, is knowledge pain?

  9. walks like a human cat brings this to the table: knowing; in and of itself, is not pain. being human is. (he knows because he walks like one) a human cannot avoid pain. does the pursuit of knowledge cause a person to endure more pain? yes. the truth of human existence can be particularly painful. but it is the duty of the philosopher to know the pain of leaving the cave ( bag, box, or basket in the case of cat philosophers) ; in order to prepare the rest for the sunlit world of enlightenment.

perhaps by inventing some sort of crazy enlightenment sunglasses

  10. Hahaha, interesting distinction. Walks like Hooman Cat is most wise.

But Fluffy White Cat finds these truths, possibly self-evident, to be alarming.

Every instinct within Fluffy White Cat tells it that pain is bad and must be avoided in the name of self-preservation. Fluffy White Cat therefore avoids anything which could confuse or endanger it, and is thus highly resistant to change.

He also wonders why philosophers cannot alleviate pain if their goal is the betterment of the species. :/

  11. Let me blow y'all's minds. Dogs are better than cats. Yes I said this, I am the enemy of cats except for tigers they are cool.

  12. Passive Aggressive Cat thinks thats a funny joke Biemer.

  13. i only dont like one cat.

  14. alternative lifestyle cat says: what's wrong with a little pain? pain is one of the primary drivers of life. the pain of hunger led to agriculture. the pain of sickness leads to new medicines. people come together to ease the pain of loneliness. the pain of not being wrapped up like a burrito while your friend pretends to eat you led to this gif. a world without any pain at all would be a world where civilization; including cat gifs, could not come to exist.

a philosophers goal is not the betterment of the species, it is the advancement of knowledge. regardless, philosophers DO alleviate pain in the process (sometimes). but to alleviate is not to eliminate. if they were to eliminate pain, humanity; with nothing left to drive it forward, would wander aimlessly and fade from existence. one of the unpleasant truths of our existence is that it is the struggle that defines us.

my suggestion is that you try to embrace a little pain sometimes. who knows, you may end up liking it.

  15. There's something slighty wrong with that cat and I think you should maybe get it looked at..
