Re: Modern Republic Ok, well jailbreaking an iPod can give you many software features that apple programmers do not provide, such as free apps, playing gameboy games, free movie downloads...etc. It is illegal, and if you are found doing it, your warranty is immediately cancelled. There are two methods of jailbreaking: tethered or untethered. For tethered, you need to plug your device into the computer every time you turn it on, otherwise it becomes unjailbroken. For untethered, you don't need to plug in your device every time. Cydia is the application and program name used to jailbreak the iPhone or iPod touch without the need to tether it.

Re: Modern Republic insane, I can understand why you think the iPhone can be used as a modem, but I don't think it will work. Even though the iPhone is essentially a mini computer and a phone combined, I don't think it can convert transmitted data.
Re: Modern Republic U used to be able to wirelessly have other devices use your data connection of your iPhone. Apple put a stop too it pretty quick. If there's underground stuff I dunno.
