Meaning its something that you never truly get rid of. There is no such thing as true understanding in this world. Human nature makes sure of that, just like how religion was made for the sake of our own morality but people found away to commit atrocities with it. So don't blame religion, blame people
No. Hate comes from nurture not nature. Also, Racism is in no way normal or expected social behavior.
Mankind started 200,000 years ago, as time went by tribes were made, and with that conflict started. Maybe some tribes had a disagreement, or they just wanted to take over the other tribe for power. These events would certainly lead to hate, and racism, so this has been around since the beginning of civilization that's for sure. So when there is conflict there is hate, you can't get rid of the conflicts in this world. Like today I can easily say racism is a social norm right now, and will continue to be so
As long as there have been different people groups in the world, there has been racism. Historically it dates back to documents such as the Babylonian Talmud, which talks about biblical Noah's sons being "cursed" with black skin for their sins. So Harrian is right, there's no basis for it, but us hoomans do it anyway. We're a great species.
No basis? Lol its the 21st century I can't even go on any type of social media without someone being called racist. The Black Lives matter movement is trying to counter police brutality/racism with RACISM. Im sorry but here in AMERICA racism is a social norm
I'm kind of digging this back up after it's been settled, but I have some readings I'd like to recommend to you guys. Check them out if you're interested! The topics and ideas that are discussed are inherently complex. Therefore, I would recommend reading them and then thinking about it for a while before solidifying any personal values based on their information. I would also encourage you to read these with an open mindset and not being forcibly defensive of your current views. Note: All of these are between four and seven pages long. “Existentialism is Humanism” - Sartre, Jean-Paul. This passage perfectly illustrates my personal views. If you only read one of these then make it this one. “The Myth of Sisyphus” - Camus, Albert. An interesting analogy "A Free Man's Worship" - Russell, Bertrand. I don't necessarily agree with all the views in this one; however it is an important read for everyone. I would post links but that's not allowed. These can all be found easily via google. I checked Please read these passages in their entirety before commenting on them. Do not scan them quickly and give an opinion without gathering a full understanding of the author's ideas.
There is no basis for racism because there are no human races. Racism is giving someone an unfair disadvantage based on their skin colour. So it has no basis by definition.
It's not just skin colour related but it's discrimination of a group of people who share a certain physical characteristic.
