Gangsta rap is a subgenre of hip hop that often focuses on the violent lifestyles and impoverished conditions of inner-city youths. Schoolly D, N.W.A, Ice-T, Ice Cube, and the Geto Boys are artists most frequently associated with the founding of gangsta rap. These artists were known for mixing the political and social commentary of political rap with the criminal elements and crime stories found in gangsta rap.

In other words, dont say Eminem, Dr Dre etc. was the most influencial.....You have to go to the beginning to find influence.

DJ Kool Herc deserves more credit then prob anyone else mentioned in this thread (even the ones I mentioned) ...deserves credit for breaking down beats and looping them so tbh without him there wouldnt be rap as we know it today. He was doing this as early as 1972 on stage.

There is no greatest rapper of all time, too many great ones around. 2pac, nas, kdot, eminem(sometimes), biggie etc etc. All are equal to each other in different ways.

Best current rapper is imo Kendrick Lamar, one of the few rappers whose raps aren't centered around women, money, drugs etc. He talks real most of the time. Also Packy, one of the most underrated rappers around. His most viewed video on youtube has maybe 700k views, but he is better than all those trash rappers as lil wayne, young thug etc. Those 2 are the best rn imo.

Most underrated rapper is Packy, like I said above. Literally no one knows him, he performs for maybe 500 people at most when he performs on stage lol. Can barely live off his income. Should get way more love than he does.

100% Drake. All he does is make radio music, which are crap and have meaningless lyrics, and theyre also written by ghostwriters. Still his new album has like 8 songs in top 50 or sth. Unbelievable.

Not sure about this one. Plenty of rappers with great influence in their songs. No idea who is outstanding here.

I don't listen to rap groups. If you count kanye's ego as multiple ppl, then probably Kanye.
