Im not trying to compare Drake, but he is what's hot, Eminem is not. Get over it, music has changed, Im 20 years old and Im proud to see the change. Had Hip Hop stayed the same like in the 90s it certainly wouldn't be mainstream/worldwide today. Appreciate the ones that are leading Hip Hop with a different style not the ones that copy
Personally, i really wasnt that impressed with Nas passed illmatic. He did some good cameos but seriously, after that album he sounded like he was trying way to hard to prove he was smarter than shis listners. Kinda like Kanye is currently. An Em, he was his best when he is rhyming about abstract stuff that almost doesnt make sense. Im not dissing your personal tasted, but i dont think there is a select few that can be used as a measuring stick for todays popular artists. But if it had to come down to it, those two have their place in hip hopis I hate to even state this next comment but, i think Lil Wayne would be on par with most here based on the criteria im seeing.
The difference between what Eminem sells and what drake sells in the first week will be like 100-150k? Don't see how that classifies Em as not hot, he still outsells most artists in the world. Also drake is what is hot to the mainstream, but to true hip hop fans it's clearly Eminem's album that will be considered best. The best rappers are not measured in popularity anyway. Let me ask it like this, in a beef between Eminem and drake which one of them will still be an international superstar with a good career and respect from other rappers and which one of them would possibly lose those things (not that drake really has respect from other rappers)
The one that appeals to the pop demographic. Pretty much why our list of great hip hop artist is so limited.
They both appeal to the pop demographic, but to true hip hop fans the winner will clearly be the one who can actually rap rather than just putting out club bangers. Drake got murdered by Joe Budden in diss tracks this month, there's no way he belongs in a conversation of best rappers when Joe Budden bodied him.
Eh, the richer a rapper gets the less they relate to the hip hop culture. Broke and hungry rappers are the real influence and legacy of the genre. Ironically though, more people like to spend their money on artists who rap about being richer and cooler than them. Its like paying someone to insult you. Whatever i guess...
Lol you need to stop, what album air you talking about? Thisnis just rumors, they say he's releasing it but now it says he's not schedule release this year. Stop living in the past, cuz as of right now, he's going through some issues. His mom is sueing him again, same with his ex wife. Also this year Eminem net worth has gone down a lot, from 200million to 115million
I don't think even drake would say he's a better rapper than eminem don't even know why people are talking about it lol.
He's not a better rapper, but in a decade from the way he's going now he well on his way. Also like I said before some of you need to learn the difference of being a lyricists then a rapper
The chicks like drake lol that's the difference he isn't in any way a better artist than Eminem it really is as simple as that.
And i can argue that black people only like Tupac. Others just heard his name. There is a lot of rappers who get the attention of different listeners. I don't take nothing away from them though
