  1. Hello again forums. Today, I have a question.
Short, simple thread, all I need is an answer because Google hasn't provided a definitive one.
I recently purchased an Xbox One. A 1TB one. A week later, it was dead. The PSU (the power brick, for you less educated types) stopped receiving power. I have moved it throughout the house, testing outlets that I know work, with no results. It won't light up anymore to register getting power, and I'm completely unable to use my Xbox.
Has anyone else encountered this issue, or is this just me doing something wrong with mine? If its just a me thing, maybe you guys can speculate what I've done wrong because I honestly have no clue.

  2. Contact Microsoft support

  3. XB1 has a external PSU? Sorry, PC user here but i see if i can help. On a side note does PS4 also have a external PSU? Or "power brick"?

  4. The PS4 does not have one to my knowledge. I'm fairly certain, as I was asking a coworker in electronics about this and he had no idea what the brick was.

  5. I am going about the process of registering my console so that I may return the PSU for a replacement under the 90 day warranty. Support only led me to a page troubleshooting my issue, which didn't help at all.

  6. XB1's Power Brick has a small fan inside, just saw that. That's so.. Cute. In a heart melting way for people who are really into electronic hardware.

  7. First red rings of death...
Now there's defective power supply units.

  8. It is self cooling yes. I thought about opening it to see if something had gotten caught in the fan but that would violate my warranty. Xbox is very particular about cutting into their products.

  9. There's always an issue with their first round of consoles. My 360 slim was a tank, never broke down on me.

  10. You can try taking it apart, but i wouldn't recommend unless you really know what you're doing.

You can either get a replacement PSU and see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't then try support and return the PSU that you brought.

Sony did a horrible job with the first gen PS3 system (Motherboard layout, and cooling) they've learned and now invest a lot more into their systems. I can't wait till the PS4 is pwned. It wouldn't be too hard since these newer gen consoles use PC hardware. Sorry. Getting side tracked.

  11. At some point I hope Microsoft goes for a build your own Xbox thing. A water cooled Xbox would be so much more efficient. Basically I want to build a PC, but with an Xbox. I want the console format without the console issues.

  12. It was first released 2013, it is nearly 2016. I doubt it's still the first round of consoles... Unless you bought it as soon as it released.

The xbox 360 slim wasn't the "first round of consoles" it was a later model.

Also the red rings of death didn't just plague the first round of consoles.

I'm sure there are issues with both consoles so please don't consider this as a hate post directed towards microsoft's xbox one.

  13. Water cooled or liquid cooled console would look cool but cost a lot. And not much gained performance wise. But i would be a cool lil project to do..

Building a PC is pretty easy once you learn, i can do it drunk (i have done that a few times) it is a pain to learn.. But worth it IMO. Don't assume its a all easy after you put it together. Software wise it gets pretty complicated.

  14. Btw is the PSU lighting up in any way? Or the system? Or is it just dead.

  15. The PSU is supposed to have an orange light near the plug to the console to show it has power. This light has not come on at all while I've been taking it around the house.

  16. That's my point sasuke. The Slim was one of their last 360 consoles, and it had far fewer issues than the first. I honestly should've held out for an improved console but the call for fallout was too strong.

  17. Theeeeeeeen its dead. I'm pretty sure orange means standby. I know it sometimes stays in standby even when you try to power on the system. Thats the surge protector acting all goofy. But in this case it seems your XB1 PSU is dead :(

Fallout 4 isn't that great. My honest opinion, even as a PC gamer. But new mods are coming out which really make the game a lot better and brings back a few things from fallout 3 that they removed. Also theres 18+ adult mods hehe..

  18. I have a day one Xbox one and haven't had a single problem with it. Neither has anyone I know that I play with. So I think it's more unlucky than "ring of death" all over again.

  19. Legitimately though, there are no problems with ouya.

    Best gaming console all round.

  20. Tegra 3 based system running android?
