Why do you write?

  1. For me, writing has not only been one of my rights as a human being, but one of my privlages. Writing is something I do, not to please others, but to please myself. Lately, many of you, the writers of KaW, have been feeling discouraged due to the fact that you have not been recieving feed back. Why? Why do you write? Writing isn't something you do to impress others. Writing is the expression of your soul put into words. (Or just something you do for fun.) Either way, lack of feedback should not deter you from something you love.

I'm not saying that feedback is bad. Feedback is a wonderful way to find out what others thing of your writing, but just because you haven't gotten any, doesn't mean you're a horrible writer. There could be a number of different reasons why you have recieved little or no feedback. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't write.

Take me, for example. I have been writing stories on kaw since early January. Since then I have posted a number of different stories I've posted, including innocence, When the sun sets, smile at a stranger, and plenty of poems. However, I haven't recieved plenty of feedback. And I'm okay with that. You should be too.

And if you want to get something, you have to give something too. Read someone elses story and post on thier feedback thread. Chances are, they might post on yours too.

I guess my point is that a writer doesn't live off feedback. And if you quit just because you haven't gotten any...maybe you shouldn't have started writing in the first place.

I hope I've given you all something to think about and reflect upon. If you have anything to add, please do speak up.

Hope to see some inspired authors out there,

    -Irin

  4. Wow nice speech, u could help me with my story :) Character sign out form for (Journey through the unknown) find it in the fab-fiction section ;)

  5. I love writing just because it's fun! I love seeing what I'm capable of in terms of imagination and getting feedback for future reference. Although I love to write, my stories barely pass three readers per story. So sad. :(

  6. I should start reading these stories

  7. Why I write? In the day I have so many feelings a thoughts and I want to express what I feel to the world, KaW is a great place to do that. I thinks others might want that too. Also because love it, writing grows on me.

  8. Kimber, you WILL NOT STOP WRITING! I happen to be one of your three readers, and I love your stories! Especially Rise of the Minor Gods. In fact, your stories inspired me to write one of my own!

Personally I write because it gives me a thrill, like when I'm reading. For example, if I write a cliff hanger ending to my chapter, I can wait to write the next chapter to see what will happen.

  9. lol i never said id stop writing. but it discourages me to have so little viewers.

  10. Just because only 3 people submit feedback doesn't mean they don't read them. There are some stories I read that I have not submitted feedback for.

  11. I write because I enjoy making stories and seeing how other people react to my creation so to speak. I haven't been on KaW as much due to sports, but I'm palming a nice story I may write. Gotta storyboard.

  12. I write to relieve myself of the emotional pain I hide from others. When people read my stories, they tell me I am so passionate about my writing that it comes out perfectly. I also write to prove to myself that I'm not a loser and that Im really worth something.

  13. I write so I can release all the pain and annoyances that I bottle up. But it still comes out bad.
