So, late breaking news is that Adrian Peterson (the man who beat his FOUR YEAR OLD KID until he bled out of his crotch) has had his request to rejoin the NFL "delayed". The article is below. Its a quick read. After reaching a plea agreement to avoid trial on charges related to the alleged abuse of his four-year-old son, Adrian Peterson had hoped to return to the Minnesota Vikings this week. But the NFL has reportedly shut that idea down, saying it needs more time to make its decision. According to a report from Fox Sports, Peterson's camp and the NFLPA had kept the NFL apprised of the coming plea deal, and requested that Peterson be returned to the Vikings' active roster immediately upon making it official. No dice. Even as Roger Goodell testifies at Ray Rice's appeal hearing, the NFL has reportedly refused to tip its hand on its plans for Peterson, or even to inform Peterson what he would have to do next to expedite reinstatement. The only public statement from the NFL so far came from spokesman Brian McCarthy on Tuesday: "We will review the matter, including the court record, and then make a determination on his status," McCarthy said. "We cannot provide a timetable." Peterson remains on the commissioner's exempt list, which allows him to be paid but bars him from team facilities. The whole process is little-used and less-understood, but it basically gives the league office unilateral control over when a player may become eligible again. No hearing is required—though there might be one anyway—just Goodell deciding when it's politically prudent to allow Peterson back onto a football field. One league source told ESPN that "there's no hurry but no delay either." Considering his legal situation I'd expect Peterson to be reinstated sooner rather than later. On Tuesday, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge reckless assault. If he completes the terms of the agreement—a $4,000 fine, 80 hours of community service, parenting classes, and two years of probation—the case will be wiped from his record. "I want to say I truly regret this incident," Peterson said after reaching the plea deal. "I stand here and I take full responsibility for my actions. I love my son more than any one of you can even imagine." Personally, the NFLs stance has stuck me as silly. Adrians actions have been known for several months now. The man near the ever living crap out of his child with a stick. Here is official record of what happened, in Adrian's own words. The beating allegedly resulted in numerous injuries to the child, including cuts and bruises to the child’s back, buttocks, ankles, legs and scrotum, along with defensive wounds to the child’s hands. Peterson then texted the boy’s mother, saying that one wound in particular would make her “mad at me about his leg. I got kinda good wit the tail end of the switch.” Peterson also allegedly said via text message to the child’s mother that he “felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting I (sic) thigh” and also acknowledged the injury to the child’s scrotum in a text message, saying, “Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I’m all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories!” So, why does the NFL need more time? We know why he got such a sweetheart plea deal. Its because he is an athlete, and in America, athletes are royalty. Its the same reason OJ got away with murder. But, I digress. I want do know your thoughts on how this will shake out. Should Adrian be allowed back I to the NFL? If so, why? Why not? I've asked for your opinion, so now I'll offer you mine. Adrian Peterson should not be allowed back into the NFL. Period. I am opposed to rapists, wife beaters and murders to play as well. The reason I feel this way is because the NFL draws a huge crowd and is a family activity. As such, it behooves the NFL to keep its Image as clean as possible. I like hard hitting games, and things like end zone dancing and trash taking are fine, but, when players on your team do things that are so socially unacceptable, such as grabbing a stick and beating your child until he bleeds out of his scrotum, you need to go. We need to take people like this and make an example of them. Not glorify them, and make in mistake, there is glory to be had in the realm of professional sports. As we've seen, the courts clearly won't take action against this child beater, so, it would he nice of the NFL would. For you guys out there, before you go defending Adrian Peterson and Saying he should be allowed back I to the game, first imagine him grabbing a stick and hitting you so hard in your male parts that they bleed. Then, after you've reviewed that image, post your answer. So, what do you think? Talk to the moose.
He should be in jail. Consideration to allow him back in the league is ridiculous. Wheoever is even considering should share a cell with him
You're implying that if I beat your parents until they bled I should have a second chance? Empathise here. Not only was the child not in a position to defend himself, he bled. Out of his personal regions. There's punishing your kid, and there's assault. Decide again - if you want a short tempered man roaming the streets, clearly able to hurt people, then that's up to you. Just put yourself in the child's eyes for a few moments.
I think it's unfair that the poor man is being oppressed in such a way. If he is an asset to the NFL then he should be allowed to join. His law record has nothing to do with his ability to play sports. They are putting him down because of something unrelated that he did in his own recreational time. The fact that the NFL is even considering not letting him join is just wrong, biased. and purely unjust in my opinion.
I feel this way. Yet, there are youngins that look up to him. It's like if a Disney girl gets pregnant. She's gone that next season.
Get to let the man play football again. If Vick can play, then he can play. Maybe not until next season, but think because (money he brings in playing) he will be back soon within 3 weeks.
Vick watched dogs tear each other apart for fun. He shouldn't be in the league either, IMHO. That being said, as horrible as making dogs kill each other is, full on assault of a four year old kid seems worse
That'd be hilarious! But..I doubt they'd cut that. They'd be like..."Minnie joined and is having a baby."
Micheal Vick paid his debt to society. And since has done more for dogs then most of us ever could dream of doing. He earned his way back in. To charitable deeds to his attitude in general. Unlike some of the current players with issues who haven't put the work and/or time in yet to prove what needs proved.
Why does he need to prove himself? That isn't the point. If Vick wants to watch dogs fight in his own personal time that is none of our Damm business and he shouldn't have been punished for it the way that he was. Furthermore, he didn't have to prove anything to anyone. Adrian on the other hand harmed another human being, so his punishment was just, however, the discrimination by the NFL was wrong. He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone either, though. He is a good player and for that fact alone should be alowed to join.
