Week 5 - War #12 Update: 65% Boring Matches & A Solution

Discussion in 'Strategy' started by _MrCoffee_, May 6, 2013.

  1. War #12 produced 65% boring wars, 5% that was one-sided but not completely hopeless for the losing side, and 30% that were close enough to be exciting.

I was surprised in responses to updates on earlier wars that people on the winning side of a one sided war were pleased because it was easy mith. This makes fixing matchups that much harder - not only will you have clans of guild hansels continuing their exploit, LB clans with bofo equipment carefully picking their matches, but even when Devs try to fix this exploiters will stay one step ahead of them.

While the method of matching up could certainly be improved (25% of troop stats + tower stats + BFA + BFE for starters), I have a far better idea - take away the incentive for creating one sided matchups by the warring clans. Let war be for fun - make the goal become a challenge to try to win an even war.

How do you eliminate the incentive to game the matchup system? Two simple things:
    (1) Make mith available for purchase again;
    (2) Make the rancor equipment essentially equivalent to mith equipment.

This would eliminate most of the incentive to try to rig the wars. Why war at all, you might ask?
    Because it is fun.
    :D

Really..... Looking at war history. Inactive players lots of no xtallers and very low actions and u are crying about loosing. Get organized form war strategies. Get active players. Don't butt hurt about loosing. Take a lead. Put the spreadsheets together. Start planing for war 5hrs in advance etc. But most of all stop whining.

So many clans have stopped warring because so many wars are one sided; it is my perception that the amount of lopsided wars is increasing over time. If nothing is done, the numbers warinig will continue to dwindle.

So many wars are decided by the matchup; only a very few are close enough that tactics and tracking matter at all. Far too many wars have one side KO'd at the start with essentially no chance whatsoever.

Producing wars where the sides are close enough that strategy, tactics and tracking are decisive - that should be the goal of the Devs, no rewarding those clans that have figured out how best to game the system and win lots of wars.

  5. Take the incentive from wars basically? Ya remember how many clans warred before ee and rancor?

  6. Re: Week 5 - War #12 Update: 65% Boring Matches

The suggestion to fix this is the dumbest idea I have ever heard in my life.

  7. @TNT

The concept is the incentive to war should be that it is fun.

What we have now is wars that in general are not particular fun, with so many clans trying to game the matchup system. EE wars have become so mathematical - the fun is going out of it for far too many.

  8. Re: Week 5 - War #12 Update: 65% Boring Matches

Of course it's mathematical every battle in history is carefully planned out.. All clans by now know the matchup statistics so use that knowledge stop complaining. There is no perfect matchup and never will be especially when only 50 clans war

  9. The problem i see wit this is. Noob war clans have no idea wat they r gettin in to. Lack of towers. Lack of strategy or tactics. Its impossible for them cuz they r not organized. They wait till 5 mins before war to annouce wat theyll do.then inactives n no xstals come on wat do u expect.

  10. Support.

With EE wars the fix was in. Why should the exploiters be rewarded more than they already have been?

  11. My point is unfortunately almost nobody wars because its fun.

  12. @DEIlIlIIIIllIllIIIllIllIIIlDE

You have a good point about the noob warring clans. Think of todays situation: they dont have enough towers which are vital for war (and given too little weight in war because they are much stronger than their cs indicates), and they will have much less mith equipment. They will have no chance whatsoever in that scenario, forget the fact that they wont be prepared.

Kaw need more warring clans - how can we encourage more to war when the match will be so stack against them that their experience will be spending the entire war in KO?

  13. @TNT

I agree with you - not enough war because war is fun. Perhaps the reason is because so few wars are fun? 65% were blowouts in this case.

Wouldn't it be great if wars were fun?

  14. Re: Week 5 - War #12 Update: 65% Boring Matches

I am leaning toward the equipment not being available in the ewars but more along the lines of only equipment earned by actually participating in the ewars and purchased with the mith won.

So war naked unless you have mith equip.
Maybe one mith sale for those that have none.
This would give them the helm or crown to start with.

  15. Re: Week 5 - War #12 Update: 65% Boring Matches

Honestly what runs up the score is the ko bonuses. If these were lowered to a smaller percentage or perhaps changed to a flat value of say 200m a ko I think you'd get much closer matches.

  16. I just think too few clans are willing to war for nothing. Why war when you can eb to grow and get quipment.

The clans that do like to war want to do it on their terms not the devs, so they osw.

  17. Re: Week 5 - War #12 Update: 65% Boring Matches

This is a bad idea, if you are on a noob clan the only way to get better is warring even on a one sided war. Before EE or rancor nobody did wars and if you take away the rewards we would go back to ebs all the time and mwars to get mithrill, and believe me that's a real one side war

    Bedlimite

True on the number of kos.

Seeing all reds throughout the match has always ended in a lose for me.

  19. Re: Week 5 - War #12 Update: 65% Boring Matches

The matchups size-wise and strength-wise are perfectly fine.

It's just the strategies and activity that win the war.

  20. Re: Week 5 - War #12 Update: 65% Boring Matches

Our war was prolly the 30% exciting war 
