Waterloo

  1. Two hundreds years ago today the last battle of the long revolutionary/napoleonic was fought in a small valley not far from Brussels.

    It was the last of a series of three battles fought over days between the French British and Prussian armies.
    There is no record of how many died in that valley but it was many thousand during a long summers day of slaughter.

    Now reason for making the thread was to both remember those days and those maybe have some form of discussion on Waterloo and the men who shaped the day.

    Was it a glorious British victory? A crushing defeat of the mighty Grande Armee and its leader ? A near won allied fight that was decided by the speed of Prussian marches and the inability of French marshals to coordinate their corps ? Or a almost glorious French victory that was cruelly turned to dust by cruel circumstance ? Or perhaps it's all of those
