Hello all! I don't post in the forums very often, but I'm on them all the time. Recently I have been seeing a lot of threads about if a hansel or attack build is better for a war. I'm a hansel myself, but have never been in a war as one. I am interested in how a hansel can be a war build. I enjoy being in wars, and once I get a bigger stats I intend to war again. Enough of me rambling on though What are some warring strategies I could use as a hansel? I'm also considering dropping my allies and going pure spy for wars if that would be more fun/effective.
I've been in a few wars as a hansel and best idea is to have 1 atk building so you can atk every now and then and also have nice stated allies they add to your stats and can through off those who dont take time to check up on their oppent. Also as you said dropping your allies?, that would be the worst for a hansel, guild wars are based on gold income you make more gold with more allies, even if they try stripping you as a hansel its easy to stay self pinned in a war. Any questions ill answer best i can, not an expert in anyway but i play.
I'm just wondering do I have to keep myself pinned and fight from pin? Hire big allies? I'm just wanting some tips and suggestions from people. Thanks for your help btw
You don't "have" to fight from the pin, depends on if you care about getting losses. Big allies are always a plus, its the one advantage (apart from gaining plunder from attacks) that hansels have over pure spies.
As a pure spy with allies... you're due for a strip by anyone anytime to open you. As a hansel, you won't be stripped with allies unless you piss someone off.
So that if I am fighting with spies from the pin, attack builds will have trouble scout bombing me to pin me. Also it is a small preventative measure from being stripped.
Basics of hansel warring... - Yes, when active you'll need to keep yourself troop pinned. This means you'll be dtw to assassinations and the other side will have to scout bomb you to zero your spies. This is the primary reason why hansel is a superior war build to pure spy. - Keep only enough in allies to stay MP for hitting EB's to re-pot. To get enough BFA to make your troop attacks a factor as a hansel you'll need trillions, so don't bother. This way, if you get stripped, who cares. You lose 15b and are still just as effective in war as you were before. Win win. - If you're offline keep zero gold out. Attack builds trying to hit you will show dtw. Other hansels/hybrids might be able to farm you but who cares (unless you're in a system war). An OSW hansel shouldn't have adp to burn and you still lose nothing.
Troll, two things... One, there are many advantages mechanics wise that hansels have over pure spies. Allies are just a small factor. Two, what is one reason for a hansel to have more than mp in allies during a war? To have effective BFA on attack? That stopped after T4 came out. Also, you'll get stripped just as fast as any attack build during war. Hansels still need towers.
To answer questions... Adp = attack defense pots. You don't need them as a hansel in OSW. When active you should be self pinning anyways and have no gold out when inactive. Who do you attack when in war? No one. One attack building is worthless in the T5 age. You might be able to farm another hansel using pots...that's it. That building is to hit EB's and change your mechanics. Number of towers? Up to you. To really help slow down a strip you need 6-8 by T4 standards.
One or two of each tower(spy and attack) or 4 of one kind. But don't buy them untill you start warring again.
In my experience, attack builds are extremely weak to spy builds. As a 1mil cs hansel, I was in the first 3 weeks of summer war and pre-war beta. I could (and did) do full spy unloads on HLBC attack builds. Also, they won't know it was you even! Great for farming higher stat attack builds! I'm not sure what's better for overall gold, but spy builds are excellent in the art of stripping.
