iOS games have come a long way. And no, I'm not talking Angry Birds and Candy Crush. I'm talking about games that are near console level, hell, some that are even ports of the actual games. Games with good graphics, story, and ones that you have not played in a long time. This list is in no particular order, as I find it impossible to think of one I like best. This means #1 is not my favorite, I just thought of it first. And hopefully you might find some new games on this list to try out. I will likely expand this list occasionally, as there are may great games out there. I'm also limiting it to one entry per franchise. Which means not all of the Real Racing or Asphalt games can be here. #1: Modern Combat 5: Blackout This is arguably one of, if not the, best FPS shooters in the App Store. And while it's now a bit of a freemium game, a beginning user can jump into a match and win if they want to. The story is not quite as good as MC4: Meltdown, but the Multiplayer, HUD, and controls are improved in every way. It could use a Mic Chat option for squad battles though... Graphics: 8/10 Gameplay: 8/10 Story: 7/10 Price: Free to Play #2: Dead Trigger 2 Another top notch FPS, my love for this game cannot be put in mere words. It's a bit silly at times, but it's a great improvement over the, in my opinion, Mediocre first game. It has several unusual additions to the controls, including auto fire when you put the crosshairs on a zombie. Although unusual at first, this is immensely useful when surrounded by the pixelated undead. I have sunk more cash into this thing than I care to admit. Graphics: 8/10 Gameplay: 9/10 Story: 7.5/10 Price: Free #3: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas This, is the real deal. A full port of the console game, this has everything that people love about the original, in your pocket. In some cases, the graphics are even better, with dynamic lighting and such. The controls are good, and my only complaint is about the aiming system, which can be cumbersome at times. Another plus is that you can create your own playlist to listen to while you drive. And with a Rockstar Social club account, your progress can be saved and played on multiple accounts. Graphics: 6.5/10 (It was a Ps2 game, come on) Gameplay: 9/10 Story: 10/10 Price: $6.99 #4: Asphalt 8: Airborne Now this is just fun. Great graphics, great controls, and well built tracks. There are hundreds of cars to choose from, though you have to constantly grind for cash, or use your own hard earned dollars if you want my Ferrari (And even then you cannot have it). Complete with a pretty great soundtrack for jumping battleships, and you've got a great time killer. Graphics: 8.5/10 Gameplay: 8.5/10 Story: N/A Price: Free to Play #5: Max Payne Oh Rockstar, let me count the ways that I love you. Another full port with amazing controls. This one brings out the nostalgia in anybody. The graphics are great, exactly the same, and better, than the original version. And using the Rockstar Social club, your progress can be saved and played on any device. Graphics: 8/10 Gameplay: 8.5/10 Story: 10/10 Price: $2.99 #6: Infinity Blade 3 Gorgeous Graphics. That is the main thing here. The gameplay, while good, is a secondary. Same with the story, which is top notch. It all takes a backseat to how good the thing looks. The only downside, is at times, if you haven't collected every hidden item and trained constantly, you'll find fights extremely difficult. Graphics: 10/10 Gameplay: 8/10 Story: 8.5/10 Price: $6.99 #7: The Walking Dead Game: Season 1/2 I cheated here, because unlike some people, I like both seasons equally. This was an amazing game series to start out with, and it transferred extremely well to mobile devices. The story is top notch, and it only made me sweat out of my eyes a very little. Shut up. The signature Telltale Games graphics look good, and the game mechanics are perfect for mobile. Graphics: 9/10 Gameplay: 10/10 Story: 10/10 Price: (A bit complicated. The first episode of both seasons are free right now. Each additional episode costs $2.99) #8: NOVA 3 Freedom Edition A lot of people didn't like this. I'm not entirely sure why. (Mass hysteria maybe?) It's clear what this is, another signature Gameloft ripoff that I love so much. The graphics are good, the storyline is... Meh... And the gameplay is on par with Modern Combat 4. And it's free. What's not to like? Graphics: 8/10 Gameplay: 8.5/10 Story: 7/10 Price: Free #9: 9mm Another Gameloft attempt to cash in on Max Payne. It works pretty well. The story follows John "Loose" Kannon (Because Subtlety you know?), as he bullet times his way through Compton, countless Mexican Gangsters, and Mexico even. The graphics are good, the gameplay is decent, and the story is actually pretty good. All of the voice acting is hideous, except for John Kannon, who was perfectly cast. Graphics: 7.5/10 Gameplay: 9/10 Story: 9.5/10 Price: $6.99 #10: Six-Guns Do you hunger for Red Dead Redemption on your phone? Do you wish to ride across the west, slinging guns, skinning horses, and collecting items? This is as close as you get. It's as freemium as cold possibly be, with alright graphics, and good controls. Without spending some cash, you'll find your saddle bag inventory filling up constantly, losing missions, and rage quitting. However, once you do buy some of the good items, it becomes addictive. Once I unlocked the Steam Horse, races became easy, and money became easier to get in game. And it's ever so slightly addictive, if not annoying at first. Graphics: 7/10 Gameplay: 8.5/10 Story: 8/10 Price: Free to Play tl;dr This, is not a tl;dr thread, my friends.
i played six guns when it first came out, but i lost interest when i realized how much i had to pay to get anywhere in it
