I just found out that the next Thor is gonna be a chick. I get that whoever holds the hammer is technically Thor. But we have had basically the same dude holding the hammer for idk 30 years? Even mythology depicts Thor as a man going back thousands of years. So why the sudden change? Money. Marvel comics wants to attract more viewers for their next movie and they found that half their fans are women. Now, I don't mind female superheroes. What I do mind is taking historical precedent and perverting it to capitalize on our youth. Why couldn't they just make a new female superhero? Why did they have to neuter Thor? Are they all out of creativity over at marvel that the best thing they could come up with is a rehashed version of Thor as a woman? I think a female Thor is an embarrassment to the creative talent at Marvel and an insult to the entire history of a character we have come to know and love throughout our lives. I will not be watching the female Thor movies. What do you think?
Re: Thor Is Getting A Change They did it for the same reason they put any women in a lead role that's usually done by a man. There are too many women superiority feminists that claim they are still "discriminated" against.
They once made Thor a frog, but no one mentions that anymore do they? Either it'll pass and be forgotten about, or it'll be successful and everyone will be happy
If they want a woman to play Hulk...just ask my Ex... You wanna see the colour she turns when she's angry...
When I go to a marvel movie I am not paying to see another chick in tights. I just go to my yoga class for that. They should have made loki a chick. That would be hot.
The creators use instances of other people picking up the hammer and momentarily becoming Thor. This news from Marvel is different. They have indicated that this is not a momentary change. They're permanently making Thor a woman for all future films.
Again, The creators use instances of other people picking up the hammer and momentarily becoming Thor as a justification for fans to accept this change. However, This news from Marvel is different. Thor girl didn't wield Thor's hammer, she had her own golden hammer that had similar powers to Thor's. She was a permanent hero and went on to join the avengers after the events in Ragnarok I believe
So the question is are they making a She-Thor (the one with the golden hammer) movie or are they replacing Man-Thor with a woman?
Leaf informed me that Loki is getting neutered, too. A sign of our times, he "takes possession of a woman's body." Straight from Marvel's website:
Man Thor is being replaced. They hinted that he is gonna die or step down in the next movie, leaving the hammer open to the next "worthy" person. In this case, the worthy person will be a woman.
Honestly I think it will be the actual Thor girl because as far as I'm aware her comic book storyline is linked with the upcoming movies. She played a role alongside Thor in Ragnarok and she signed up with the superhuman Registration act during the civil war that will be shown in captain Americas movie
First off; A.) The story was actually well written and happened for a good reason. Jason Aaron being on of the better writers Marvel has did this justice. B.) This happened over a year ago during the Original Sin event. C.) Thor isn't gone. He's still there. Its just he lost his worthiness to wield the hammer. Those powers he channeled weren't entirely his but also because of the magic hammer (Mjolnir) that he wielded. Now my question is. Why do you care so much if you don't even read the comics? Also did you know that Sam Wilson is now Captain America? Rick Remender wrote a good story there and Steve Rogers is still around he's just kind of becoming a new Nick Fury / Charles Xavier type. Stories evolve in time. Marvel has been pretty good recently at either evolving their characters or changing them. I just don't see why so many people who don't read comics care. You don't read the stories anyway so why does it bother you?
