This is, of course, for all the new players who are trying to find there way in the game, and stumbled upon forums. In this, I'm going to outline some general rules, different builds, what clans are for and little stuff some people most people seem to forget to mention to the newbies! Legend: Section:Blue Terms:Green Key Phrases:Violet General Rules Okay, so you've gone through that really bad tutorial that tells you nothing and last ten seconds (unless you are on your laptop, which is more thorough). Now what? First rule is to keep the talking at a level that is acceptable for people of all ages to here. If you use profanity, or slang terms that are the equivalent, you will see this marking: *. This marking means that you have used profanity, and it has been replaced by that sign. Trying to bypass the language filter is against the Official Rules of Conduct, and you could be reported to moderators, which are people who help run the game. Then you will be silenced for 24 hours. If you are silenced 3 times, you can never talk again. Another rule you should know regards alts, or alternate accounts. This rule states that you may not have more than one on your laptop, and one per iDevice. Should you make more than this amount, you will be banned from the game. An EXTREMELY important rule pertains to harassment. You should know what this means just from reading it. Harassment of a fellow KaW player will get you removed from the game. Different Builds There are several different builds, I've chosen one, and you'll have to do the same.I'll try to be as unbiased as I possibly can. The first build is called a Defensive Build. It's called a Defensive Build because most or all lands have a Defense oriented building. The pros to this are that you are likely to win any time you are attacked by somebody. You also get a 5% increase in plunder per defense building (see Hints & Tips below). The cons to this are that you are highly unlikely to win when you attack somebody. The second build, an Attack Build, is when you have most or all lands covered by an Attack oriented building. The pros to this are that you get a 5% increase more than you would by a different build of an equal tier (this is explained as you go, and you don't need to know it as soon as you start). Another pro is that you are more than likely to win an attack on another person. The con is that you have a weak defense, so you are more likely to lose when you are attacked. The third build is called the Balanced Build. It has most or all lands covered by a Balance oriented building. The pros to this is that you get a 5% increase in troops. The cons to this is that you regenerate these troops slower. One detail, which is neither a pro or a con, is that you are equally likely to win or lose. This is bad at first, but once your stats raise, it becomes a pro. The fourth build, known as a Mixed Build, is when you have a mix of all different buildings. Generally, you would try to keep these buildings equal, in order to maximize the benefits of each. The pros are that you get the 5% increase in everything, which continues to raise 5% every time you build another one. There is no con, but just as the third build, you are likely to lose a lot at first. The fifth build is known as the Pure Spy Build. Pure Spies have only spy buildings. They can take down people, and nobody will know who did it, so long as they are successful in the attempt to spy. However, they are open to all attacks. Most join clans and participate in pwars (see Clans below), which gets them attacked at a regulated amount, while making an extremely large amount of money. You should NEVER start as a Pure Spy build, because you are likely to find it is extremely hard to get stronger. People generally convert into Pure Spies after they get there 25th land. The sixth build is known as a Hansel Build. Hansel builds are mostly spy with one or two attack buildings of their choice. They buy a large amount of allies to make up for their lack of attack and defense, and then they are able to attack people and still win. This, coupled with the large amount of plunder (see Spies below) generated by the spy buildings, makes for fairly quick upgrading. The seventh, and for now final build (until somebody thinks of a new combination), is called the Turtle Build. While generally frowned upon, it is used by some new players, due to the large amount of defense it provides. The Turtle Build consist of 1 Attack building, 1 Spy building, and the rest are towers. Towers are builds that give you no special stat increase, but have a fairly high defense stat. It has no attack power whatsoever. Most people get rid of all of their towers by the time they unlock their third tier, while others keep only their spy towers. However, it is a very rare occurrence to see people with 600k+ stats to keep the Turtle Build. Clans Okay, this is a big one, because it has little to no cons, depending on what type of person you are. Clans are groups of people that come together in a group and play together. They participate in Clan Chat, cc for short. Another thing that people do together in a clan is EBs. EBs, or Epic Battles, are similar to wars where you can make money by performing the things asked of you inside the allotted time. You can do epic battles as many times as you want, and there are a multitude of different ones. They also go to war together. War is where you challenge another clan and attack each other for 48 hours, and the winning clan splits the plunder that was gathered. Plunder is basically just a fancy word for money. The war tax accumulated from each successful attack is what builds up clan plunder. The way you win is because you had more plunder. A war is the only time you can ALWAYS farm another person without ever having lasting consequences. Farming is where you attack somebody more than 5X in one day. The reason I say always is that a some people, though it is rare, will go as far as to start an off-system war over you farming them. An Off-System War is caused by actual disputes between two clans, as opposed to healthy competitions. Off-System wars are brutal. You don't make any money for winning, there is no set time limit, there is stripping, which is the buying of allies to weaken a player (for an explanation on how this weakens somebody, look at Allies below), and mercs, which is when you get people outside the clan to start attacking the opposing clan. Off-System War are a rare occurrence nowadays, but before regulated wars, that's all there was. In many clans, you have Plunder Wars, or pwars. A pwar is when you go to war with a pwar clan. Pwar clans are created so your Hansel and/or Pure Spy can go there and be attacked without harming the clan in any way. The clan without the hansel attacks the hansel from the other clan so that you can make money. At the end of the pwar, you surrender, and give the Hansel and/or Pure Spy all of the money you accumulated from the pwar. This allows the Hansel and/or Pure Spy to upgrade, or prepare for the next pwar. Basically, clans give you so much more money than you could get by yourself. The only possible con is that you are tied down. It's a commitment, if only an extremely small one. Allies Allies are infinitely important. I can't stress this enough, buy ALLIES! Allies give you a much better chance of winning a battle, and they help you get Plunder Capped. First off, allies give you extra plunder, or more money per attack on another person. Plunder Capping is when you buy enough allies at a high enough price that you stop making extra money off of the allies, no matter how many more you buy. To make your cap higher, which you want in order to make tons more money, upgrade. Now, there are different ways to buy allies. Many people buy a lot of little allies. The pros to this is that you aren't likely to have them all bought from you overnight. The con is that it takes longer to get capped, and so it's a big effort. Some people, myself included, buy extremely expensive allies, but only buy one or two of them. The pros to this is that it's easier to get capped, and your allies are unlikely to be bought, because it takes so long for somebody to save that much money. The cons is that should your ally be bought from you when you are not on KaW, you are completely open to attack. I have to teach you about the way to pick good allies, as well. This is very important should you buy the expensive allies. When you buy allies, I know it seems best to just buy either the most expensive person, or the person with the highest stats. This isn't true. Your ally is your investment, you wouldn't randomly pick stocks, so don't randomly pick allies. If you see a possible ally, click on his/her profile and see if they have allies, and if they have a clan. Having a clan means they are likely at least semi-active, and if they have allies, and they are inexpensive, it's highly likely they play the game on a day-to-day basis. The reason I'm pushing that they need to be active is because if they are active, they will upgrade. If they upgrade, you get stronger, too, just by owning them. Items Okay, so items are a big thing in this game. The first type of item is called packages. Packages are permanent items that you can get from purchasing with real-life money, resetting, using Mochicoins (if you are on a Mochigames account), or from just starting the game. These packages give you extra bonuses for your stats. Some work on your Spy Attack and Spy Defense, others work on Attack and Defense, while the most expensive ones work on all four. Another type of item is an expendable item. While having no official name, to my knowledge, these are very useful, and there are several types of them. The first type is called a Health Crystal, generally known to gamers as xstals. Health Crystals are used to replenish your supply of troops and spies without you having to wait an hour (1:10, if you have a balance oriented building anywhere). You can acquire Health Crystals by buying them, doing quests, or simply receiving them because the developers are being nice. Another expendable item is called nobility points. Nobility points are points you use to buy speakers, which are items you use to talk in World Chat. They can also be used to change your Username, regenerate your troops (just like Health Crystals), or just give yourself a large amount of money. You can get these by purchasing them or you can just get them randomly. The final item is know as pots. Pots are items that you can buy to help increase your chances of winning a battle. There are four different types of pots: Attack, Defense, Spy Attack, and Spy Defense. There are 11 different strengths of pots in each section. Defense and Spy Defense pots always cost less than their equal of strength within the Attack and Spy Attack. If you use pots wisely, you can turn around a battle, or even a war. Upgrading There isn't a lot to upgrading, but there ARE better ways and and orders to go about it. Everyone knows how to upgrade, right? To upgrade, click on the building you have, and hit upgrade. Simple? Well, yes of course it is, otherwise we wouldn't so many people playing the game. However, I have three tips that can really help you out. Don't bother trying to purchase land after land after land. If you worry about getting every single land when they just keep getting more expensive, you're just going to get frustrated, and quit. Your first priority needs to be getting every single one of your buildings to level 3 (level 4, if it's a spy building). This gets your statistics higher than they would be if you bought another land. It also increases your plunder more than another land with a level one building on it would. Do not convert right away. Trust me, I know how many people told you about how you're making a bad decision if you don't convert up a tier as soon as humanly possible. But this isn't true for the latter tiers. If you're going from t2 to t3, or t3 to t4, get about five more lands bought and covered by the previous tier. This gets your plunder high enough to make getting so much money not such a hassle. One last thing that is incredibly useful, especially if you have an OSF on hand, is the following tip of mine: Exploit the build glitch. The build glitch is a glitch in the game where if you have full troops, put a building on a NEW LAND, keep it at level one, and then unload on the OSF, you unload twice as many hits as you could before. This only works once per new land, so use it on the strongest OSF's possible. Spies I know a lot of people who have just started playing have either sold there Guild, or just kept it at the same level. DON'T!!! They give you a plunder bonus, which is slightly higher than the bonus from the Defense oriented buildings. This plunder bonus really starts to stack up if you get two or three level 4 guilds, so I suggest get that many at the minimum. Once you get your spies at a respectable level, which is about 200k, you can start taking players down from the inside, which is great not only during a one-on-one battle, but during a war as well. During a battle, I suggest scouting them once, and then stealing from them. So long as you use Spy Attack pots, you'll probably never be found out, and they will be unable to retaliate. Never spy on somebody and expect to get away with it once you've used over half of your spies. During a war, assassinate the units so weaker players can get a turn, effectively pinning your opponent. Also, during a war, use all of your spies. Just because you start losing, doesn't mean that the opponent isn't weakened any. Well, that's it, guys. If you have any questions, look me up inside the game and I'll help you out! Anything you think I missed? Something I could expand on? Put a post on this thread which tells me NICELY what I can do!
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn Farming is not a rule. I thought this guide was gonna be good till i saw that. /shunned
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn Fixed it. I dont want your harsh words. If you think you can do better, then do one yourself. If you want to criticize, tell me what i can fix and why
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn Isn't hansel when u have one attack building and the rest spies
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn It's considered hansel either way, but generally speaking hansels have all spy buildings because one attack building is normally considered worthless to them. Thats how all builds work. All or most.
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn Yes, but only one per device. Even if you jailbreak your ipod, its still prohibited. Thanks for the fix, ill change it
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn Ya but u said u can only have 2 accounts u can have as many as u want but only one on computer
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn The one you said is balanced is actually a mixed build, the one before that is balanced
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn Thank you pieman. In a week, ill give you all credit for helping me edit this
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn Btw farming doesn't always have consequences because not everybody spazzes out about it
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn Yes, ill expand sooner or later. but on a separate thread. and most do spaz out, so im gonna say only time
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn Then expand why not to spaz out. It's a war game anyway.
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn Mixed build is part spy buildings and part troop buildings. Hansel build is ALWAYS 1 troop building and the rest spy buildings. Hansel builds originally had massive attack stats from allies to make up for their weak attack and was a good build in wars. Now it is mainly used to generate maximum plunder for a non-T4 build. All spy buildings is called Pure Spy (duh...).
Re: Things That All New Players Should Learn Dont be innapropirate on world chat im silicened for good and its not fun
