So after much deliberation I've tried to come up with what I believe is arguably the worst overall science fiction movies of all time. I'm going to have to say. New terminator New transformers Green lantern Jupiter ascending Divergent series Could some people post what they think are the worst. I would love to know.
Star Wars is like a watch mojo dot com honourable mention. I guess Star Wars is the benchmark by which all sci fi is measured.
And Sphere, and Jurassic Park, and The Thing, and Space Odyssey 2001, and Universal Solider (original), and Back to the Future, and Close encounters of the third kind, and 12 monkeys, and Robocop (original), and A Clockwork Orange, Planet of the Apes (original), and They live, and 5th Element, and district 9, and Ghostbusters, and Starship Troopers, and Wrath of Khan, and Akira, and Mad Max, and the Abyss, and Truman show, and the Iron Giant, and Independence Day, and last but not least... 80s Transformers.. Sorry
The thing. The original John carpenter movie. I'm going to watch that now. I forgot how good that movie is. Thanks prime
HG Wells, Jules Verne, Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C Clarke, Douglas Adams, Frank Herbert, Orson Scott Card to name a few. Approximately in that order too.
And yes I posted writers as the title does not say movies and they came before.... Nostalgia for a good book I suppose
Great thread... I could talk sci fi all day until my neck beard grew back and then keep going Orsen Scott Card and all the Ender books are some of my all time favorites.. I didn't know we were talking about books, because everyone should also read 1984 By George Orwell... Mmmmmm sci fi..
List Fail you missed Blade Runner for Movie and anything William Gibson for books Lock for Total Lack Of Effort
Blade runner was hella lame.. Running man was 1000 times better, and that's not including the fact Arnold was only in one of those movies..
I'll have to agree with prime On They Live. That movie gave us one of the best movie quotes of all time as well as one of the most memorial fight scenes.
I haven't seen it but every single person says it's a rubbish movie and yet the previews look amazing
The Matrix series (all of them) ...hands down best Sci-fi movies of all time. Star Wars isn't true sci-fi ...it's really a "space opera" (you hear that term in reference to literature more then movies) Star Wars had a space/future theme to it. Ie: you could have placed that movie in a pirate setting ..wouldn't have changed the plot much.
