the UK and the EU

  1. So, I'm wondering about people's thoughts on this.

Should the UK stay in the EU?

The EU no longer resembles what it was created for.

It may be on the brink of a third recession within a decade.

The euro is reportedly close to failing again.

It appears to be full of people who have absolutely no idea of anything other than what is presented right in front of them.

It appears to be unwavering on some issues that many Britons find unacceptable.

The UK is the faster recovering western economy

It's arguable that we give in far more than we get out (in total sums)

The UK has an issue with Britons not wanting to do the lower paid jobs, which foreign workers are delighted to do, this should change but the only solution I can come up with is to make the couple of million people on job seeking benefits work for their money (at minimum wage ofcourse) so it would roughly be 10 hours a week- I fail to see any reason somebody on job seeking benefits would not be able to do that.

Any thoughts? Would you like the UK to be in or out of the EU? Is it good for either party for the UK to leave? Would it make a difference to Europeans if we did?

  2. I couldn't care really.
I do know tht the UK needs to handle immigration and cannot do it while in the EU

  3. Deutschland.

  4. You really think a small country can compete on today world? Leaving EU means no more free access on EU markets. To access EU markets will become costly for UK so no way to compete on those markets with EU countries.

  5. Indeed less immigration would brink more jobs for britons in short term. But in long term being outside of EU means less markets, less goods that can be trade therefore lower workers demand so less jobs for you.

  6. Whilst that's a good point, it's also not quite correct. The EU and the USA are currently negotiating free trade rights.

We may be a small country, however as I said, we are also the fastest recovering western country, size isn't everything

  7. Your economy is do far behind Germany's, I doubt any European country could develope strong and healthy without they EU atm, only Germany could. UK is already the "country" with most advantages and extra rules, leaving may bring a short "wealthwave" but after few years your economy will suffer hard.

  8. The only real benefit we get from being in the EU is free trade amongst other countries within Europe, we could easily sort similar deals out with countries individually.

Being part if Europe also increases our world standing but let's be honest England has enough of a reputation now to not need Europe to make us look important.

So no **** Europe in it's fat ******* ass.

    Vote UKIP

  9. your political education must be very poor, same goes for history.

England is definetly not much reputated anymore, those times have passed.

Voting UKIP is probably the dumbest thing you could do if you care about your country.

  10. Germany's the main reason why the EU overall is performing poorly, and no, the UK isn't far behind Germany.

Germany's economy shrank at 0.2% in the 3rd quarter. The UK's grew by 0.7% in the 3rd quarter. Of course, neither one is great. US GDP increased by 3.5% in the 3rd quarter. UK GDP growth is expected to be in the range of 2-3% in 2014. Germany was predicted to grow 1.8% and it doesn't look like they're even going to make that. Germany's economy is slowing down.

The problem is European Central Bank policy is mostly controlled by Germany and they're so hung up on austerity and afraid of inflation that they're pursuing the wrong polices and forcing the rest of Europe to go along. That's why growth sucks in the EU and unemployment remains high.

  11. The euro markets would still be there as would better access to make trade links to every other market.

With Briton out of the eu the main bulk off supporting it would fall to Germany and France which would kill any growth they plan for near future.

The question shouldn't be what if Britain leaves but who will follow to join us.

  12. Yo why is this on KAW? Lock please mod. KAW is not the place for political crap. That's a real life issue. Some play this game to get away from real life issues.

  13. That's why it's in a little forum called 'off topic'

Kaw is generally the topic, this isn't about kaw, that makes it 'off topic'

If you don't want to read it, don't read it.

  14. Vlad small country? 6 th largest economy in the world. Far smaller countries trade quite successfully with Europe from outside Europe.

  16. Ok as we are just saying things and not explaining it....

    Your post is stupid.

  17. Well...once UK will be on their own will compete with EU, USA, China, Japan, Russia. Now please tell me again how big is UK and how will compete against big dogs on their own.

  18. Germany's shrank and UK growth means nothing. Romania grew by 2.8% in third quarter. but guess what. Our economy still suck.

  19. I'm not understanding where your coming from, we are the 6th largest economy in the world. The eu isn't in that list. So if we did get free trade agreements (highly likely) then we would be in exactly the same position as now regarding our economical standing
