Long ago a divided land was united under one banner, into one kingdom by a monarch: Alexander the First. For many years the new kingdom lived in peace and prosperity, expanding and growing in wealth, knowledge, and military might. Then, all of that began to change when they foolishly attacked Clalydor, the mighty boar king. Finally after a year of war, they defeated Claydor, and the riches they earned were stashed away. But the wars were not over yet. More threats continued to appear, and they began to fight battle after epic battle, struggling to survive. Finally, after decades of fighting and destroying all the powers that opposed them, they became the strongest force throughout the land. The kingdom continued to grow but, like most who are left unchallenged, became lazy and overconfident. But that was a mistake. For this was a land of natural monsters and demons. This was a Kingdom at War. It was early morning and Alex had been doing his daily rout, walking through the forest when he came across the strange stone tablet. It was smooth on the top and rough around the edges, with a strange symbol carved into it. He leaned over to pick it up, and as soon as his hand brushed the smooth rock, the tablets symbol began to glow with a blazing red light. Startled, Alex jerked his hand back and drew the knife attached to his belt. After a few moments he realized there was no immediate danger and tried to pick up the tablet again. This time there was no flash of light and he brought it up to his face for closer inspection. “Interesting”, he thought, “I wonder why the emblem didn’t flash this time, and what does the emblem mean”. Suddenly Alex got an uneasy feeling and spun around, only to find an identical tablet laying on the path, and he was sure that it hadn’t been there seconds before. “How could I have missed that, I walked right over that exact same spot” he thought uneasily. He looked around, and dropped the tablet in shock. All around him were tablets identical to the one he had found on the path. Slowly he backed away, and then started sprinting towards the town and castle he had come from, knowing he would have to inform the Baron right away. When Alex made it back to the town, he arrived to a town littered with the exact same tablets as he had encountered in the forest and the fields outside the town limits. With a surge of uneasiness, he began jogging up the main road that led to the castle. Finally he reached the Barons room only to find the Baron and several of his associates debating about the very tablets he had come to report. With a sigh Alex realized his hustle to get back was in vain, and he sat down in an armchair beside the door to catch his breath. “Alex, glad you could join us” said the Barron smiling as he realized Alex was hopping to be the first to report to him. “Yes, well I couldn’t help but notice strange tablets were littering the forest, fields, and town” Alex said barely hiding a smile. “Ah yes, we were just discussing what they could be, and why they might be here” replied the Baron. “Well I don’t have the answer to that my lord, however I do know there is a bloody lot of them” Alex said. The associates laughed and Alex stood up to join them. “Well whatever they are” said the Baron, “their appearance must be reported to the king immediately”. Alex nodded his agreement, “I’ll get one of my men to it right away sir”. Bellona had been practicing in the training grounds when the Battle master approached her. “I need you to do me a favor” Alex began, but was cut off by Bellona. “About the tablets? Sure, where do you need me to go?”. Alex smiled, “That’s Bellona for you, always on top of things”. “I need you to ride as fast as you can and report to the king”. Bellona nodded, “I’ll get to it right away”. She sheathed the sword she had been practicing with and walked over to the horse stables, preparing for the 12 hours journey that lay ahead of her. Late that evening Bellona returned with news that almost all 50 fiefs had the same mystery on their hands, except the ones along the cost. She also had orders from the king that all the Barons should order their fiefdoms to collect the strange tablets and to put them under close watch. That night the Baron called Alex to his office. “I don’t like this Alex” the Baron said as studied the younger man in front of him. He was tall, strong, and seemed to have unlimited amounts of courage. The Baron had fought alongside Alex in many battles and knew the knight very well. Alex twisted his curly black hair, clearly bothered by the sudden appearance of the stone tablets as well. He looked down at the two rings on his finger. He had gotten both from a victory against Moutos, a dragon that had threatened their kingdom years before. The rings were magic and there were many different ones the dragon had stashed away, now split among knights of the kingdom. All had different powers; these two could summon water and lightning. “I am to, knowing the other Barons wont be ready if this is an attack of some kind. We have enjoyed the privileges of peace far to long,” Alex finally said. “I agree,” said the Baron as he gazed out his window, watching the people of his town spread out gathering the mysterious tablets now dominating their lives. The next morning, Alex woke up to the sound of the castles alarm bells going off. He leapt out of bed and threw on his armor, grabbing is sword as he rand out the door. Outside was a scene of mass chaos, houses were burning, people were running around in the streets, and soldiers were trying to group together and rush to the south end of town. Alex joined a group and rushed to the heart of the battle. When he go there, he found his men engaged in combat with monsters at 10 feet tall, their bodies made of lava and hardened rock. He looked around and saw Bellona trapped against a burning building, surrounded by three of the fire giants. He ran to her aid, cutting down one and then another, only to find his blade melting in his hands. Bellona cut stabbed the last one with a knife, her other weapons melted from the heat of the monsters. Before she could say anything he cut her off and asked, “Where did these guys come from?”. “The just appeared! We were guarding the tablets, and then in a second all the tablets turned into these… things!”. She said, panicking. Before he could think about this new information, he heard several men shouting and screaming from behind. He spun around to see the monsters breathing fire, incinerating the soldiers trying to force them back. The line of defense broke as other soldiers scrambled back trying to avoid the wall of fire that had just killed their friends. Alex knew there was nothing he could do at the moment, they had to regroup. “FALL BACK!” He shouted, “FALL BACK TO THE CASTLE!” Hey peeps, this is a Fan Fic (obviously) that i started to write, but i would appreciate any suggestions on or about what i have so far.
