Sword of Death

  1. Prologue:

Well, typical day at school turned not so typical. Amazing what the appearance of something from Hell can do. Everyone in my school slaughtered. I managed to escape with one girl, by the name of Lisa. This marked a turning point in our lives.

  2. Day 1(day of slaughter):

"Well, that was messed up", I said to Lisa
"You don't say. It's not possible for anything to kill that many people that fast. It might not even be from Earth."
"Looked like a demon. So much for they don't exist"
We were hiding in an abandoned building near our school. We should've went farther, but Lisa's leg was wounded badly. What was scary was, this morning, we went to our lockers. Inside mines there was a bow and a quiver full of arrows. Hers had a sword, perfectly balanced. Then the beast came, tearing people in half. Instinctively, we grabbed those weapons and tried taking the beast down. We managed to cripple it, but it sank a claw into Lisa's leg and started tearing the muscles and tendons apart. She cried out in pain and dropped her sword. Rushing forward, I grabbed it and cut off the claw, grabbed Lisa and ran.

    "How's your leg?"
"Hurts. Feels like its been through a shredder"
    "Well. We're stuck he-"
    "Did you see that?!"
    "What?"
Lisa pointed to a dark corner of the building. I made out a glimmer of steel.
"Pass me your sword", I whispered
"No. We need to get out of here"
    "But your leg....."
"I can walk. We're not safe here. We need to get out of the city"

Little did we know, we might never be able to come back after we left.

  3. Day 2:

Well, we escaped from the city. It's time I told you about the global situation. The world had split into 3 countries. The Empire of Asia, the Republic of the Commonwealth, and the Canadian territories. It is 2116. A war from last century had the world merge into the three most powerful countries. We lived in the Canadian territories. Canada was taken over by a dictator 50 years ago, and so were Canadian territories. It was said the dictator himself was a demon.

"Curse the dictator to Hell" I muttered, killing off the soldiers chasing us. "Lisa, run!"
We were trying to get to the port, where we could flee to the Commonwealth lands. Countless demons attacked us, and now soldiers thought we were behind the killing and destruction. Our home city was bombed, and no one survived.

We were getting surrounded. Heading into a building, they could only come at us one at a time. Well that's what I thought. They found other entrances. Lisa and I were now fighting to survive. Soon we were back to back, completely surrounded. Our weapons were knocked out of our hands.

"Well, it seems we're unarmed, Lisa"
She looked up at me and nodded.
Simultaneously, we raised our arms, palms facing the soldiers. Fire came from our hands and we started circling. Soon, the soldiers were all burning to death. Now you may be wondering how we got this power. This is where things get crazy. Lisa and I came from a race of deities from god tribes. The two tribes were the Sun Tribe, and the Moon Tribe. We came from the Sun Tribe. We were here to stop the Moon Tribe from taking over Earth. We never knew they would go to the lengths to get fighting minions from Hell.

    We were like mortal gods.

    Day 3:

Reaching the port, we got a crew and set sail for England. It turns out we now had a bounty on our heads. The sailors were actually bounty hunters, and capture us. We were tied up in the captain's cabin. Lisa tried to resist, and got a sword stabbed into her chest. Barely alive, she was constantly unconscious, and only moaning in pain when she was awake.

  4. Will try to post more later

  5. Day 4:

So much for being gods. I couldn't even get a fire to burn off the ropes. It was torture for me to watch Lisa tied standing up against a pillar, her head slumped forward, her long black hair concealing her tanned face. Her brown jacket was shredded, and nothing but a few strips of the cloth remained. Her pink shirt had slashes all over it, her jeans dirty from going around. Her shoes were the most intact object around.

We were in a prison cell, in a city in northern Canada. The door slammed open. Light flooded into the dark room. Today was different though. A man with pale skin walked in. His voice was cold as ice. I felt the fear grow inside me as I realized this was one of the Moon Tribe. Paying me no attention, he turned and looked at Lisa. Lisa managed to bring her head up to return the eye contact. Then she spat at the man's feet. The man tutted.

"I expected better manners from one of the Sun Tribe". And instantly, electricity sparked from the man's hands and zapped Lisa. She screamed. It was a long one, seemingly piercing through the walls. Finally, it stopped. Smoke wafted up from Lisa's tattered clothes. The man left.

    Day 5:

The pale man came back today, with a retinue. He turned to his men, and said, "This is the girl. The one that holds the strongest power in existence." His men did not seem impressed.

"Get some of her blood and analyze it. And you will see the power she has"

My mind was racing. I knew the Sun Tribe legend of one who possessed the being of the universe itself. But the legend said that being would be insanely evil, and impossible to subdue. That didn't match Lisa. There was much to investigate. A good escape plan came to mind. And once we escaped, that man will wish he never zapped my girl.

  6. Day 6:

Lisa fell forward, sprawled onto the cave floor. Escaping from the prison cell, we fled to the mountains. Lisa was still weak from her wounds, and shouldn't have gone this far. Blood started flowing from her, staining the cave floor red. I tried to stop the blood flow, and managed to keep her alive.

    Two months later

    Day 67:
Still in the cave. It was time I talked to Lisa. She had recovered enough to fight again.

"Lisa, we need to talk", I said.

"I was afraid this would happen. If you must"
"What the pale man said. Was it true? You are the one in the legend?"
Lisa looked at the cave floor.
"Yes. I am. I'm not actually from the Sun Tribe. I'm from the Moon Tribe. The Moon Tribe always fights among themselves, trying to seize power. If you wish to fight me because we are natural enemies, I won't fight. Even if you kill me."
"That's ridiculous! After all we've been through? We've survived all this, and you think I'm going to fight you?"
"Yes. Everywhere where our tribesmen meet, war happens." Lisa kicked a pebble, sending it to the far side of the cave.
    "Lisa"
    "Yes?"
    "I love you."
    "Whoa. Um. Awkward"
"Yea kind of. But once this is all over, maybe we can be together?"
    "Maybe", she said

And we watched the sun rise. For all we knew, much hardships lay ahead. But as long as we believe there's a path, there will be hope.

  8. Day 70:

    "Lisa! I remembered something!"
    "what?"
"The legend that told of the power you have said that the host will eventually be intent on eliminating the world"
"Yea. Thanks for telling me what I'm eventually gonna do"
"It also says there is only one weapon that can match the Sword of Death, which is the sword used to destroy humanity. It's called the Sword of Heaven."
    Lisa looked saddened.
    "What's wrong?", I asked
"Isn't it obvious? I have to die right now I prevent this from happening. Kill me"
"No. There has to be another way"
"There isn't. Even if you find that sword, we will fight eventua-"
She stopped midsentence. A black aura appeared around her, black smoke wafting up to the cave ceiling. She looked at me. I flinched. Her pupils, instead of the usual dark brown, was red. A sword of black metal appeared, and she approached me. Then she screams. The sound of the black sword hitting the cave rock echoed.

"What was I doing?!". Lisa looked terrified

"Perhaps you are awakening", said the pale man

We swung around to the cave entrance. There he was, wielding two katanas. I swore. How he found us I don't know.

"You can't hope to defeat us", I said
"What if I do? I'll kill you first, then take the girl"
    "Not in this life, buddy"

And we fought. We mirrored each other's movements. Strike met parry. Parry met strike. And as one we struck our swords forward to finish it.

The man's eyes opened in shock as my sword went straight through him. He fell down, right beside Lisa.

Lisa! She took the stab for me!

    "Lisa! No!"
    "Unnnnngh", she moaned.

Looking at the amount of blood she lost, I knew it was too late. There was only one way to end this. I found a map on the pale man, leading to the Empire of Asia. And so I began my journey. One for revenge for killing Lisa. It may take years, but I will change this world. I will put it back to the way it was before the war last century. I broke all the weapons I didn't need before leaving. I buried Lisa, but left the man for the bugs. He didn't deserve a burial.

  9. 2 years later

    Day 800:

I have arrived at the gates of the Empire. With me I have an army of rebels tired of the Empire's tyranny. Somewhere in there was the person responsible for all this.

    Day 802:

We have finally overthrown the empire. The man responsible escaped, and I pursued him. I cornered him in a small town near a river. He was by the river, with a black sword. My eyes narrowed. The sword was familiar.

    "It can't be....", I said
    "Yes. The Sword of Death"

He slammed it into the Earth. A dark figure appeared with a black aura. The figure grasped the sword, and with one fluent decapitated the man. The figure was Lisa, yet it wasn't. Her eyes held no sign of recognition from seeing me. There was no pity or mercy in her.

"Lisa", I pleaded. "Please! Wake up!"
"I remember you", she said. Her voice was cold.
    "Please wake up"
    "I am awake"

She charged at me. I partied her strike. My blade shattered on impact.

"You call yourself a fighter? You're too weak."

    She vanished.

"Great. Just great. She's going to destroy everything"

Her voice echoed, "You have 10 days. In 10 days, I will be in the heart of the Commonwealth republic"

To be continued in Sword of Death 2
