On that fateful night. I saw him...., the thing I swore I could never fear... I saw Death. I watched as my comrades where felled, their lives snuffed out in a single blow, extinguished before my very eyes. They came in waves, these beasts, dashing forth and attacking, breaking our defenses. Skewring my men. But we could not retreat we had out orders and ,honor and pride would not allow it . As the kings best we stood our ground, against the beasts, but it was a tiresome onslaught. Hour after hour we fought, and every hour that passed another was slain. Another comrade, another friend. Until finally, only six of us where left. We held are ground and pressed on , we had slain countless monstrosities many beasts of many natures, so much so that the ground beneath our feet was soaked in the gore of are enemies. These five gore covered men the last of an entire legion. A legion under my command. But everyone knew the wages of war, and this was the most likely outcome of this battle. We laid to rest those we could. Giving them at least a descent burial. Although they would want to be buried at the home, those that remain new we would never make it back to bury are fallen. We did not know what lay ahead but we knew, one way or another we would be leaving this place and ourselves.
