SUPER GRANNY—DEFENDER OF JUSTICE This is a true story An elderly Florida lady did her shopping, and upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle. She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her voice, "I have a gun, and I know how to use it! Get out of the car!" The four men didn't wait for a second invitation. They got out and ran like mad. The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and get into the driver's seat. She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition. She tried and tried, and then it dawned on her why. A few minutes later she found her own car parked four or five spaces farther down. She loaded her bags into the car and then drove to the police station. The sergeant to whom she told the story nearly tore himself in two with laughter. He pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale men were reporting a car jacking by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white hair, and carrying a large handgun. No charges were filled. AH, SENIOR MOMENTS!
Joking. But in all seriousness, once people pass 60 medical/mental checks as often as possible (3months maybe?) in order to keep their driver licence or handgun permit.
Most old people are good up until mid 70's. When they start to go the state doesn't hesitate to pull the licenses. I had a senile uncle. He lost his license driving up the shoulder of a highway. The wrong way! He missed the McDonalds. I was told the police said he was only doing 10mph. They had to block him in to stop him. He was well in his 80's at the time. Laws very state to state, but after the age of 70 it is common for drivers to need a physicians approval to renew driving privileges. I can't recall any specific laws in regards to age and gun ownership. You really only need a license to carry handguns. That's usually has a 21 years or older age restriction. Super Granny. You get a few stories a year a kit old ladies defending themselves with firearms, but this is kinda unique.
My father was driving until age of 91 until I forced the department of transportation to revoke his licence until he pass medical tests. Go figure it out. I also have same kind of operator licence with no expiry date. Never to be renewed or require any medical.. Category B + C - allow to drive trucks and cars and it is valid anywhere in the world. I will never understand law in Poland!
