    Intro

Hello KaW! As of late, I have noticed a decrease in the quality of the forums. Instead of wallowing in sadness... I have decided to do something about it! I figure that teaching "noobs" how things work around here might do something to help :) Keep in mind that I am not kissing up, or trying to get modded... I am just helping. So, without any further delay, here it is! :D

    Sections

Sections are a HUGE part of the forums. They categorize all the threads so they aren't just one big cluttered mess. The sections are as follows (with descriptions):

Questions/Feedback: A section entirely devoted to answering questions about the game as well as providing feedback to the devs. If you have anything in particular to ask, do it here... But make sure you put in effort :)

News: A section where devs put info about upcoming events, updates or changes to the game. If you've been hearing a rumor about any changes... Check here first.

Best Of: The section where only the most legendary threads are put. It is an honor to have something put here.

Off Topic: This is where a lot of today's threads are placed. They can be about anything not related to the game (as long as they don't violate the ToU.) Ranging from humor to general discussion, this is a great place to hang out when you've got some free time ;)

Strategy: Full with tips, tricks, and guides to the game. If you are looking for any help with almost anything game related, here is the spot you should look.

Other Game Discussion: The title says it all... This is where game material that is not covered in any of the other sections is discussed.

Fan Fiction: A section for short stories and almost any time of creative writing written by YOU! The players of KaW. Come here to sign up to be in a story or write one yourself.

Clans and Alliances: This is where most (all) clan's threads are placed, as well a recruitment threads and alliance threads. Come here to advertise your clan, or find one for yourself.

Wars: Where wars between clans are discussed. A great place to find a real war, or to catch up on the dirt between two or more clans.

Rules of Conduct: Rules, rules, rules... A great place to hang out when your are not studying the ToU  All joking aside this is where most rules are kept.

Graveyard: Where "dead" threads are kept.

(yes I realize they are not in order)

You can also search the active topics for recently posted on threads.

    Threads
A thread is what the forums are made up of, where people post, basically the base layer. Without threads there would be no forums

Threads are placed in the sections which I discussed earlier.

To post on a thread, you click the blue button marked reply at the top

You can click the number and the top and bottom to switch through pages, and the button on the top left to return to the section the thread is in.

    Etiquette

Etiquette on the forums is really quite simple. You follow the same general rules that you abide by in real life (treat other how you want to be treated, etc.)

There are some special rules that apply to the forums, such as no spamming, and trolling is often frowned upon. As are hate speech and bypassing.

All in all, if you are polite and kind on the forums, you will generally be respected.

    Lingo

There are numerous terms that are commonly used on the forums. Here is a list of the most common ones:

Noob (or Newb): a player that is new to the game (generally not a good thing)

Dev: One of the game developers their name appears in red

Mod: a moderator, some of these patrol the forums and enforce good behavior  their names appear in green

Troll: A player that puts down another player in a thread discussion , see Charlie Sheen

Fan Fic: an abbreviation for Fan Fiction

Spam: to post the same message/thread over and over again. Looked down upon

Bypassing: To bypass the swear filter, against the ToU

ToU: Terms of Use, located in the help section

SS: Screen Shot, when a player on an iPod takes a picture of their screen.

Again, these are just a few of the most common terms.

    Notable Figures

I'm only going to name a few as the list could go on forever

-Bastion: long considered the forum king, and one of the most famous trolls, known for always expressing his FULL opinion

-OutDoorToast: the current player with the most posts, famous for the "Toast Castle"

-Swabia: legendary for creating the "Castle Code". This was before there was an upgradable castle, and players fell for his sneaky code tricks. "FREE SWABIA"

-All of the mods: FEAR THEM! Just kidding! They are here to help :)

-DarkKnight: A player who told KaW Admin to get the **** out... Never heard from again

-Sholron: Made a thread documenting some of the most famous and notable threads in the history of KaW.

KaW Admin: the dev's forum account

Again, there are too many to put into words, these are just a few of the most notable.

For all of you new players, I really do hope this helped... And keep in mind that I will be updating :D

    -Seymour (a.k.a. Annex)

  2. Reserved

  3. swabia did not create the castle code, just made it well known by reinventing it in many ways.

  4. I will put that in as soon as I am on a pc Benny :D

  5. may want to add in veteran term aswell. cant think of anything else ;)

  6. Take out the "Sections" section. Or at least take out all those Screenshots of them. It's taking up room for no reason, and is self explanatory.

  7. Yeah darknight is still playing and active, Just changed name. Darknight has many ALTS and you may actually know them. Click on his name if you want to see

  8. Who else was just creeping on those clan chat conversations as they scrolled down this thread?

  9. Where's my name!?! :|

  10. Trolls frowned upon?
    Smile for shadow!
    "I try my shirts off"
    -SA- Winning since 09

  11. Noob and newb are two different terms with different meanings. A newb is a new player that is willing to listen and learn. A noob is usually a new player, but not always. They don't learn and very often annoy people greatly, either intentionally or not.
