Society and Theology of Kingdoms at War

  1. This thread has nothing to do with mechanics. You cannot use this thread to win the game. It is purely a tribute to the vibrant fabric that is the people of the game: the oswers, epic battlers, estoc warriors, noobs, newbs, trolls, forumers, mods, and yes, even the developers.

But before all of that came to be, there is that was: welcome to
    KaW Theology

Long before the first lowland was discovered, long before even the mysterious castle appeared, there was an entity...
Temporally and physically untouchable, this entity sought to create a reality...
But first, to name the entity. After debate among itself, it chose to be called...
    A Thinking Ape, Inc.

Soon, the entity tired of the long name, and shortened its name to ATA.
Armed with nearly unlimited programming prowess, ATA set out to design an application in its own image, one that would earn it tribute, fame, love.

    Thus was born:
    Kingdoms at War

ATA spread its new game throughout the whole of Heaven, and soon the land was teeming with small kingdoms competing for gold. ATA faded somewhat, becoming almost a divine watchmaker, though making regulations and dispensing punishment. This punishment became the morality of KaW,a code of ethics that have come to be known as the ToU.

Here is where Theology blends into Society. From now on, there is no longer a distinct line between the two.

This competition between kingdoms became organized, regulated. Clans grew based on the premises of a social contract not to fight each other, and to help each other grow. Based on concession, each clan member promised to obey the rules, or face excommunication and execution.
This organization, socialization, and kingdom construction continued, becoming ever more apparent in KaW society, ever more focused. The plunderwar took over, expanding in popularity and influence.
Finally, the singularity was reached. The divine watchmaker decided to act.

5 Horsemen of the Apocalypse were unleashed upon KaW, destroying the pwar culture in one fell swoop.

Of course, more horsemen would be released later, however, this is not highly relevant to the theology or society.
Combined, these entities hunted down OSFs and wiped them off the face of the Highlands. They then challenged the confused and irritated kingdoms to an eternal conflict, an epic battle.
Apheriun in particular was highly aggressive and thus determined that most of KaW would fight on a whole different level: The Nether Plane
The warriors who fought the Horsemen became the epic battlers of KaW. Labeled as "eb fairies", "noobs", or just plain "idiots", these kingdoms nonetheless became a dominant feature of the game, the backbone of KaW.
Others rejected the apocalypse and its attendant bounties. Instead, they chose fight for their own causes, equally if not more noble then the epic battlers. These Off System Warriors became a subculture of passions and emotion, in turn ripping each other to shreds and forging unbreakable bonds of loyalty and yes, even love.
There are even smaller subcultures, such as the 1v1 wolverines, little demons in their own right, the noobs, who according to a recent report have an 87.3% chance of committing KaW suicide and abandoning their kingdom, and the forum gang, who largely choose to reject the game in favor of the power of the keyboard.

Thus Kingdoms at War has evolved into its own independent microcosm of society. Though we are all simply computer generated accounts, variations in personality of the players have made KaW what it is today: a dynamic interconnected web .

Where do you think our society will lead? How will it evolve?

  2. T11 will come out and the name will be changed to Kingdoms At Epic Battles.

  3. Wow...
