sheltering todays youth

Discussion in 'Off Topic' started by Kissmyaxe, Aug 26, 2015.

  1. Hello fellow kaw'ers, today i decided to discuss a topic that I have pondered for a while now.

    Question:
Why do we shelter today's youth from bad words, world issues, and religious views?

By doing this are we really doing them any good by sheltering them?

I strongly believe it's NOT helping them in ANY way. Because once they are out in the real world it is a giant slap in the face and a big "WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD".

    Thoughts?

    DISCUSS!

  2. Op have you attempted to read that?

  3. I can read it fine, can you not?

  4. Is it that much different now than it was during our parents/grandparents generations?

  5. Exactly twinkly, now look at all of the problems in today's society

  6. Yeah, let's let them run wild! Let em get into stuff they shouldn't get into!

Kids are just small adults anyway! Let them smoke pot, be gay, backtalk, rob, Etc.

    Did I get it right?

  7. I can now that you changed it from a cusco flag to a regular text color

  8. Maybe because some youths aren't able to process information in the same ways adults do. They lack the experience and developed social skills to handle some situations.

Also youths is a vague general term. Some could consider that to be children of 8-12 years old others may consider it teens 13-16 others 17-18 yr olds each is very different so maybe clarify your position and define your arguments more clearly

  9. That is not what i meant... We should educate them about everything instead of shielding them from everything

  10. Simple they want to harvest mindless consumer zombies that will not question authority. Give them a iPad or Xbox they never leave their rooms.

WAKE UP NEO YOUR IN THE MATRIX

  11. Yes you're right. I believe kids 13-18 would be a decent start point

  12.

  13. Idk...
I believe all children are different and respond differently from others depending on the situation.

That said, i think kids have a level of access to so much more now and god knows what kinda person and opinionated information they can stumble upon.

Its scary to think what they may come across at an age when they havent learned how to identify the type of issues/opinions/falsehoods, and plane old lies that are just a click away.

  14. CNN and Fox News are always just a click away...

  15. That's why we educate them

  16. People complain about taking kids to church but then want 3rd graders taught about homosexuality and transgenderism and how to accept everyone.. But if that child calls it a sin they're punished

We're in a world where people are labeled by their sins. Its a shame and parents are the real root of the problem

But what do I know.. I'm just a white christian male.. The most hated type of person on the planet today

  17. You need to have more faith in them, they can spot a lie nowadays better than most people.

    Just like this one.

  18. No, the most hated is I, a White, Heterosexual, Conservative, Christian Male.

  19. I have yet to see a child punished for saying it is a sin. We all have our own beliefs and should not be forced to change them. So by educating them we are not forcing them to change their beliefs/views but rather educate them
