Season 4 Concerns & Schedule Change

For the past several days we’ve been listening to your feedback on Primal Wars and understand that some of you may have various concerns with the Season 4 schedule. We wanted to address them as best as possible.

Where are the Round Wars?
Several of you were counting on Round Wars to make their appearance in Season 4, and while our original plan was to have Season 4 consist of both Primal and Individual Wars we’ve reevaluated that decision.

For the first two weeks of the Season, we’re going to be implementing one Round War each day. During these first two weeks we’re going to be monitoring sign ups and will rebalance the distribution of Round, Primal, and Individual Wars based on demand for the following weeks.

Round Wars are being implemented “as-is”, meaning that matches will not be at the same level of quality that you receive from Primal or Individual Wars. Players may still stack their rosters, and those participating in this war type should understand this risk.

Why the change to Primal Wars in the first place?
Primal Wars were introduced to address an ongoing issue with Round Wars that became apparent during Season 3. Through build stacking, players were able to engineer their rosters to manipulate the outcome of a war. This led to a single dominant strategy and the outcome of a match could often be determined before it had even begun. This led to players becoming frustrated with the war experience, a decline in turnout, lower quality matches, and an overall poor war experience.

Over the last few months we’ve been testing different solutions but ultimately ended on Primal Wars. By removing BFA and BFE from the equation we were able to ensure fair wars and better quality matches.


Why 20 Player Rosters?
Larger rosters ultimately result in better matches. It also allows clans to take more of their members and helps to encourage clans stick together instead of split up into multiple different clans.

We understand some of you are concerned with roster size though, and so we’re going to monitor this during the first two weeks as well and will be making changes as necessary.

What about my timezone?
We try our best to offer an variety of times for everyone to come out and war in, however in the end we simply can’t cater to every different schedule someone may have. While we’ve seen a few players wanting additional times between 9PM and 6AM PDT this isn’t something we’re able to do at this time. The simple fact is that there is not enough turnout in these timeslots. We’ve shared this reason before and have tried bringing back wars in this timeslot numerous times all with the same result. Those who did show up would end up receiving either a bad match, or much more likely, a no match.
