Prologue of "Revival of Heroes" -Fallen hero- I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. Already black clouds rolled through over the mountains. I cursed under my breath. Reaching inside my tunic, I pulled a whistle-like instrument and played a quick tune from memory. The air, charged by magic, sent a shockwave out. A carrot-colored horse came running at inhuman speed with the help of magic. I realized my legs were weak from running and the adrenaline rush was beginning to end. The horse ran near enough for me to grab onto. Putting on a burst of sudden speed I grabbed the reins and pulled myself up onto the stirrups. The horse slowed slightly and I jumped on. Halfway across the plain, the clouds began to swell and block off the sun from the once clear sky. Cursing again I urged my horse faster. The town began to come into view. The black clouds began moving toward the castle. "No!", I whispered, "not yet please." The clouds opened up and black creatures poured into Castle Town. Suddenly the air around me became thick with black magic. "BANG!" I was thrown from the horse and hit my head on something hard. My vision blurred and I tried to focus. All I heard was the screaming of an injured horse and the sound of weapons clashing. I realized I was soaked in my crimson blood. As my head cleared, the scene came into focus. I was laying on my back in a shallow moat looking up. A black mass descended over the wall, escorted by two evil looking fiends. The black mist swirled and bore forth an evil looking man. The man had dark skin, dark-orange hair, many piercings, and wore animal skins from what looked like boars. "Now, now my boy," he spoke,"You really don't have to make this difficult. Tell me here, where is she?" "..I-I really think you already know Ganon." "Ahh yes what a shame... Looks like your insignificant cause has lost their queen." He chuckled to himself. "What's with your gentlemen's act Ganon?" I remained on the ground as to appear hurt. I didn't dare show my TriForce to him or he would know I had already healed. "Why Link? Do you want me take your life and waste the TriForce? I would do it you know very well, but as tempting as it sounds I need your help to get Zelda's TriForce." At that he hovered down and stood on the side-rail of the bridge. "Ha", I chuckled weakly. "like I would help you, I'd rather die." "Really n-" "Yes I would," I interrupted. "Not like you have a choice," he replied. He put his hand up and the air became black. His eyes turned gold and the dark mist surrounding him formed a shadow hand which appeared out of his palm. "Now I shall pry into your mind." The hand shot out and grabbed my head. The pain was unbearable. I tried to draw my sword, but it wasn't there. That was when I remembered the sages had told me to place it in the temple for further use. "Darn it Ganon, I didn't mean for this to be our last battle," I said struggling through the pain. His expression quickly changed from a sly smile to hardened and worried countenance. "What... Do you mean?" he pondered for a second. A second too long, I concentrated all my energy including my life force. He realized this too late. "Wait... WAIT, No!" he bellowed. My body began to deteriorate into specks of light. "What? No don't take the easy way out!" "Sure it's easy but I'm dragging you along with me!" I jumped up and grabbed his arm. There was a flash, a yell, and suddenly Ganondorf, Lord of Gerudo Desert and King of Evil was gone. In this act also Perished Link, Warrior of Ordon, and protector of Zelda. It will now only be a matter of time before the battle for good and evil returns.
* * * * Present Day * * * * Ch.1 -GangWars- Jake woke up simply. He had that dream again. The man in green giving his own life for others. He didn't tell his friends, he didn't know why ether. He just assumed they would think he was weird. He sat up on his hole ridden mattress and stretched. "Great",he thought, "another day in the slums of New York, another struggle for survival and gangwars." He was already dressed in street clothes, he didn't own pajamas. He stood up and walked down a couple flights of stairs, his normal morning routine. He came to the rusted "Restrooms" sign above the bathrooms where the gang washed up every day. The water was running inside so Jake patiently waited for the person to exit. Two brown haired girls stepped out of the bathroom. "Hey Jake," they said in unison, smiling. "Hey girls. We are fighting the Ojon gang today have you seen Sam?" The slightly taller girl, Bianca, stepped forward. She was a taller girl about 5.8. She has golden streaks throughout her neatly braided brown hair. She wore a black hoodie and black faded jeans. She wasn't smiling anymore. "Actually no I haven't seen Sam. Have you checked the lab," she asked. "No. Not yet anyway," Jake replied. She turned back to the the other girl, Nishara, was similar in features except for a spread of freckles across her nose. She wore a purple overcoat which was badly torn. "We are going to search the store for weapons," Nishara replied. "Good luck with that guys." "Ok," Bianca replied with a smile. * * * * The store was basically a abandoned Lowe's. Jake had fled here with his gang after robbing a walgreens. In order to hide from the police. Here they salvaged tools and weapons. Very recently due to crime increase, the government set up "Gangwars" where the gangs of NY fought it out in a type of tournament. The loser's fallen gang members got the morgue or jail. The winning gang got a special "prize". Somehow the losers disappeared mysteriously. This Jake knew and tried to prevent any of his gang members from getting injured. He sent the girls off to scavenge supplies in the store. He then walked to the "Appliances" part of the store. Here was based the "Lab". The lab was basically where weapons were crafted for the gang. Here Sam worked on his latest pain maker. " Hey Sam." "Zzzz.." "Sam? Sam! Wake up. Lazy ..." "Whoa.. What? Oh hello Jake. Would you happen to know the time?" "Oh yeah 9:26 a.m. Wait forget the time, any new inventions?" " Oh yes look at this," he said gesturing to the table he was working on. There lay an RC car with a fog machine duct taped to it. Jake stared at it intently for a moment. "Well?" Jake asked. "It's an RC car that will provide our guys with cover on the battlefield." "Obviously. Well continue your work I'll get Zaln to organize the chores. Remember we fight Ojon tomorrow." At this Jake left and went up to the sleeping areas. * * * * The gang loved to sleep in. It was their only time of peace and relaxation. And Jake could only wait for so long. At 10:03 Jake walked upstairs to the TV room. The TV room was basically the only room in the whole building with a working TV. Here he found Zaln and Andre. Zaln was a calm, sturdy, guy. His black hair and black, merciless, heart earned him the respect of even the police. He was also head of the chores. "Zaln," while gesturing to him then to Andre,"Andre. Are you both aware of the battle tomorrow?" Zaln nodded and Andre said nothing. Andre was a well built guy. He has dark blonde hair and doesn't talk much. He was wearing his usual hunting jacket and boots. He had a stolen police rifle over his lap. He was busily scratching off the large "SWAT" letters painted onto the rifle. "Andre?" Jake asked. "Hmmm?" He replied. "Never mind," Jake said standing up. After setting them into the morning routine he got up and left. * * * * After two meals prepared by the girls and the day gone by,the gang met at the boarded up doorway. "Alright guys tomorrow we have the semi-final battle tomorrow. We need a good sleep or we are going to be slaughtered without a good rest." said Jake. He cracked a smile but nobody got his dark humor. They just stood there awkwardly. "Well uhh goodnight then." Jake said, his face red. "Goodnight!" they all repeated in unison. * * * *
Ch2 -The Finding of the Great Temple- Jake opened his eyes. Today was the semi-finals for the gangwars. He quickly got out of bed and stretched. He then walked over to the boarded up windows. At the bottom right part of the small window, a hole let in little light. Jake inclined his head to see outside. There was an empty street filled with garbage. A light wind blew casting candy wrappers and bits of garbage throughout the street. It was still dark out. The sun had not risen yet and Jake could clearly see bright stars above. He was about to recede from the window when he noticed something. He was being watched. An old-looking man, in his presumable 50s,stood with his hands in his pockets, watching him. Jake didn't move an inch. He craned his neck and squinted to get a better look of the man. The man had grey hair which was slightly long. He wore a green bowler hat and a brown leather jacket over a green shirt. He also wore black jeans and boots. Jake couldn't make out his facial features. The only things that stood out to Jake was that the man had clean, un-patched, clothes. After looking over the man on the tip of his left wrist there was a funky tattoo. It was just a tip of a triangle but it was glowing like gold. Jake ran from the window out of his room. He decided not to tell anyone for one reason. The tattoo on the man, was the same tattoo of the man in Jake's dream. "It was the man in green!" thought Jake. He ran off on his morning routine and and got the gang up early. They would be ready to fight. * * * * After eating a lunch consisting of hot-dogs and kool-aid, the gang met at the door. "Alright gang, role call." Jake said softly. The gang lined up against the boarded up doorway and waited. "Blake?" "Yes, I have my homemade chem weapons ready to go."he replied. "Bianca and Nishara?" "We have baseball bats ready along with new sledgehammers we found yesterday"Bianca replied with a smile. "Sam, do I dare ask?" " Yes. I have my fog RC and a rubberband crossbow. And of course I have my baseball bat and-" "Yes, yes very good." interrupted Jake as he moved on hurriedly. Leaving Sam lecturing on to himself. " Zaln and Andre?" Zaln answered, " Of course I have my regular knives. Andre has his gun." Andre nodded his head but didn't look up. "Thresh?" No response. Jake stood there awkwardly before calling out again. Still no response. "Jake he's getting the van remember?" said Andre. Everyone turned to look at Andre with surprise. "Andre I didn't know you had a voice!" joked Sam. Andre shrugged. * * * * The police came at 2:30. Our guys were ready. Still Thresh was missing. Jake got everyone in the cars then went to his police car. The officer opened the door like a chauffeur then stepped into the drivers seat. Jake, confused, stepped into the vehicle. After sitting down he rested his head on the seat. "I wouldn't nap, we'll be there soon." Jake looked up at the driver. The driver hadn't moved or spoken. Jake thought he was going crazy. "Well? It's rude to ignore someone." the voice said again. This time Jake heard where the voice had come from. The passengers seat. It was the man from this morning. " I-I..who are you?" Jake stuttered. "I'm Deku, I organized the Gangwars." he replied. "You mean that tree in Legend of Zelda?" the driver joked. Deku looked like someone just kicked a puppy. He leaned over and whispered into the driver's ear. The driver's face turned sheet white then he suddenly became oblivious to our conversation. Whatever Deku said it wasn't good. Jake wondered who this guy was and what was he to scare the crap out of a police officer in the backstreets of NY. The rest of the ride was pretty peaceful. After about half an hour they arrived at the battle arena. It was a hollowed out building with placed barricades and no way out. Their escort dropped them off and quickly sped away. Deku went to the administrator of the arena and said something. The administrator looked at us and nodded. Then he turned to the computer he was working on. Deku walked over to the gang. He went to Jake and spoke,"I'm sorry you have been disqualified." Jake just looked on in horror. "Please come with me." said Deku. * * * * It was all a blur to Jake. They had been disqualified from a tournament they knew they could win. Deku had a bus come to pick them up. Jake wanted desperately to resist, but Deku had summoned a wall of guards to "goad" them forward. Jake led the gang onto the bus and they all sat down. Jake sat down away from the rest of the gang depressed. Deku sat down next to him. "I'm sorry Jake, I really am. But with the disappearance of your friend you needed to do this."he said. "Wait..I never told you my name! How do you know about Thresh?" yelled Jake. The gang all looked back at them. "No Jake I won't tell you, I will show you." Before Jake could respond the bus stopped and Deku got up. Jake walked back to the gang. "What was that all about?" asked Sam. "Deku knows something." replied Jake," I just don't know what." "Looks like a Greek temple," Sam said pointing to the window. "What?" "That is-" "The Hylian Temple," answered Deku while walking down the aisle of the bus. " It's where we are headed." Bianca who had been unusually quiet during the ride spoke up," You disqualified us for a Field trip?" she said angrily. "Yeah," Sam added in. " What the heck!" "Follow me please. And grab your backpacks on the way out." he said ignoring them both. "W-wait! Aren't you gonna answer us !" yelled Sam. "Give it up Sam," replied Jake. Jake walked to the front of the bus and picked up a backpack titled "Jake". He led the gang down the steel bus steps and onto the street. Jake saw Deku with his hands behind his back in front of the Temple. "Good please hurry." he said hastily. Jake nodded and turned to the gang. "Do you guys want to come in?" he asked. "I will." replied Sam. "Sure." said Blake. "I'll go too." added in Bianca. The rest looked uninterested. Andre and Zaln's sister,Nishara, were already walking back to the bus. Zaln walked forward to Jake. "I guess I'll come. Nothing better to do." "Ok then, c'mon guys!" said Jake hopping up the steps. The rest of the gang followed Jake up the white, marble, steps. Little did they know the coming chain of events that would change their lives forever. * * * *
Ch3 -The Great Temple- Deku was waiting inside the large oak gates of the temple. He didn't speak but instead urged us forward with his hand. Jake looked around. The temple was more amazing than anything he had ever seen. It was a huge open hall with white floors and walls. Looking around he noticed intricate carvings and texts from a language he'd never seen before, hanging on the walls. There was a open dome over a wall where light shone down through into the next room. Jake was instantly speechless. "Whoa.." muttered Sam while gazing over Jake's shoulder. "This is amazing." continued Sam, "I've never seen this style of architecture before." "That's because your world is shut off from reality." answered Deku. "What do you mean Mr.Deku?" asked Bianca trying to be respectful. "I mean your pitiful science and theory of the world is wrong." Deku quickly added, " Your government knows, they make up myths and absurd ideas about extra terrestrials to explain everything." he said as if it was a hilarious joke. Blake had read Deku's lips and figured he wasn't lying. He leaned over to Jake and whispered to him, " He's not lying. But to think what he's saying is true, it is hard to believe." "I figured that this was going to be weird but I get the strong feeling we're in danger." Jake whispered back. Sam and Bianca walked ahead with Deku talking about the architecture of the temple. "Yeah same here. Do you think-" " Deku? Yeah. He seems nice and caring but what was he doing dragging us to a temple? He still hasn't told us why we are here." said Jake. "Hmm we have to get Sam and Bianca away from him." Blake said sternly. "Do you have anything to distract him with?" asked Jake. "Pop-its?" he offered. Jake couldn't help but snicker at the idea of distracting an old man with Pop-its. "Ok." he replied through concealed laughs. Deku noticed that they were behind from the rest of the group. "Hurry please we don't have much time!" he yelled. "Ok now!" said Jake in a hushed tone. It happened quickly. Jake ran forward yelling at Sam to get him and Bianca out of here. Blake threw the pop-it's into the air and ran after Jake. Deku pushed Bianca and Sam to the ground and took a single, green, leaf out of a pouch at his hip. " Get down boys!" yelled Deku furiously. Confused Jake stood still for a second. That was a mistake he realized as a clawed hand grabbed deep into his shoulder and picked him up. Suddenly he was in the air and he felt blood run down his chest. Grabbing his arm he looked up at the attacker. It had a large glassy eye that took up most of it's head. It had a mouth filled with canines directly under it's one eye. It almost resembled a bat with blue skin. Looking over he saw Blake wasn't doing much better, his hood was choking him to death. They heard a scream and a mad scramble below. He only had a second to take it that he'd been attacked by a bat. It suddenly exploded into ash and Jake and Blake were falling. * * * * Jake woke up dazed and aching. He didn't move a muscle, he heard voices down the hall from the room he was in. He strained to clearly make out the words. "If Dekui fails again The Great Deku Tree will destroy him." said one of the voices chuckling. "Yeah...hey do you think the kids he brought were the Hylian lost?" "You always ask and I always say no. Honestly how am I supposed to know." "Hey...the boy is awake! Hurry!" Jake sprang up and ran to the wall flattening his back against it. The guards ran past like a bullet train, the seemed to be running on air. That's when jake saw them. They were humans except in some places bark and moss was growing. They were holding wooden spears and a bark shield. "Great," thought Jake,"I was abducted by treemen." The guards where searching under the bed as Jake shuffled toward the door. He was looking for something to distract them with. He looked down and realized he had new clothes on. It was a green lightweight tunic with intricate stitching designs and symbols. He looked like santa's elves gone medieval had dressed him for battle. It was surprisingly lightweight and easy to move in. At the last second he turned and sprinted down the stone corridor. Small amounts of light streamed in from the windows. He turned the corner gasping and winded. Behind him he heard yelling and cursing from the guards. Jake listened and waited as their faint footsteps ran in the opposite direction. He was confused. He had no idea where he was and where his friends are. Jake felt like crying he didn't want to be caught by treemen and he didn't want to be in that building, but he needed to find his friends. Looking back down the hall he saw that he was alone. He decided to head back to the room he had woke up in. If the treemen came back he would defend himself. Right now he needed to find out what happened. He only remembered being attacked by a bat and waking up. Gathering his courage he sneaked back to his room. He went inside and with struggle, heaved the door shut. Looking around he saw some food, a short sword, a boomerang, and some wicked looking rocks. After finding a nice sized pouch he tied it to his new belt, gathered his resources and faced the door. He needed to find his friends, he needed answers. * * * *
