Rancor Awards. Really?

  1. Caving in to pressure (from...?), the devs have announced a new order to equipment awarded for those who earned rancor points in Estoc's Trial - Season 1.

Anyone who earned 1-9 Rancor points (which could be just one win in the final two weeks) will get one piece of equipment with a potential bfe jump of nearly 5 million over the strongest available alternative.

Those earning 10-19 points will get a second piece of equipment with a bfe bump of more than 5 million.

20-29 Rancor points will net a third piece of equipment with a bfe bump of nearly 5 million.

Sounds sweet so far right? 20 Rancor = almost 15 million in potential bfe increase. So now I know what you're thinking: "Man I wish I had been able to get 30 or more Rancor! I worked my tail off to get into the twenties but if I could've sacrificed any more time / xtals / gold / etc. the pay off must be even better!" Seems logical, right? Wrong. Apparently winning does not account for much in Estoc's Trials.

The 4th piece of equipment (for 30-39 Rancor) brings a whopping .9 million increase to bfe. The 5th piece (for 40-49 Rancor) offers a bump of about 1 million. Taken together, these two pieces are worth less than half of any of the previous three. The final piece is worth around 2.25 million in bfe boost. That's no small potatoes. But compared to the first three items, the final three combined are worth less than any one of them on their own.

Those are the facts. Here is my commentary: Given the amount of time, effort, and everything else required to go from 20 Rancor to 50, as things now stand, the juice is definitely not worth the squeeze.

    And here are my suggestions:
    1) Redo the awards in a way that alternates high bfe boost / low bfe boost / high / low. I have no problem with people who may have only warred one time getting the new greaves, or mace, or whatever. The equipment distribution should simply offer a balance that awards BOTH participation AND winning.
    2) Announce the specific awards for Season 2 BEFORE the Season begins (and then don't go changing it later on). That way people can decide for themselves what they wish to aim for.

One more note, to those who are concerned about balance: alternating equipment will help with that; and let's be real - we all know this game is like a hamster wheel. It's only a matter of time before devs release something better/stronger than this equipment and we all go chasing after the new "top" prize.

And now... let the accusations of whining begin (also count how many of the accusers have less than 30 Rancor).

  2. All you been doing is whining they should call you Mascardo.

  3. Well that didn't take long. Thanks for the constructive response.

  4. I bet the ring will be both the red paladin rings combined!
if that's not the case, then everyone will be dissapoined!

  5. Devs can't change it now, it's too late.

  6. Good idea though

  7. its funny how all ppl are in-patient about rancors rewards; try to compare then with last year summer wars rewards .... it's good reward and we should be happy

  8. If you look at some of the top warring clans who got I late because of osw like zaft and some apoc clans. I believe most warring members there were around 30 rancor. Devs cater to who spends the most

  9. No support

  10. Maybe only for 2nd proposal.. That was unfair

  11. I don't see what the big issue is? The ones who got 50 are rewarded all of the items anyways, regardless of the order. And anyone from 30 is getting the better equip alon with sucky ones. No need to make a gazillion threads per forumer in my opinion.

  12. The next Equipment is obvious it is the other 6 equipment purple

  13. Support

Whiners are always gonna whine. Devs gotta grow a pair and learn to stand up to them.

  14. It's funny because if im not mistaken it was the people with 50 points that whined about order of items. So Devs went away and changed it and now your whinging even more  maybe next time people won't whine the first time around because at end of day you guys got it changed to mace being 5 item when it was originally the boots then head. 

Next time just be happy 

  15. If I would have known that the top was was there for 1 rancor thing, I would have warred. I just figured that we would get the worst one and that it wouldn't help. Support

  16. Frog - and those who read close enough to get it - Yes. Thank you.

Jaydog - let me be more clear: For Season 2, Devs should announce what equipment will be awarded for each tier/level they establish. No surprises.

  17. Another whining thread? How many is that now? NEWS FLASH!! You didn't win 50 rancor, your clan did. You were just lucky enough to be in the right clan to chip in your part. Alot of others put in as much effort, time & $ to try getting that 50 & wasn't as fortunate to be in a good clan. Quit whining & enjoy the extras the rest of us didn't get.

  18. Lethal, you're right. My apologies to everyone. The devs never should have created an award that benefits only a lucky few. How dare they distribute any equipment at all based solely on luck.

Oh wait. That's how everything in this game drops. Hmmm.

Maybe instead they should try to create a system where awards are given based on things like skill, dedication, teamwork, and winning. It's so funny, I heard a rumor they were going to do that one day. I guess we'll have to keep waiting.

Until then, I can't believe they had the gall to freely hand out new equipment only to players who happened to be lucky enough to have the free time to war a couple of times. What about all those players who's rl got in the way? It's not right for devs to single out some of us for awards and deprive others. Especially not over something as trivial as what clan we happened to be lucky enough to be in. And devs don't know other players' stories. They might have been in a coma for eight weeks. Or on vacation. Marooned on a desert island. In jail. Whatever. The point is, nobody really earned anything in Season 1. They were just lucky enough to be able to contribute to mashing the right buttons. And the devs already have a huge system for distributing items based on luck (it's called EBs).

Again, thank you lethal for helping me see the error of my ways. I have changed my mind. the devs' giving away new equipment shouldn't be based on luck again, and especially not base it on who had the good luck to be in the right clan at the right time. Shame on the devs for doing this.

Instead of rewarding the lucky, they should be giving away free equipment to everyone. Why punish players simply because they were unable or unwilling to participate? Lethal, I think we need to mass boycott, and you're just the one to lead the charge. No more kaw until the devs follow lethal's brilliant advice to its logical conclusion, and give free equipment to every player!
