Ok well I've been working on this story for a while and now I need to decide whether to keep going with it so my friend suggested I posted on here. And I have DO NOT POST ON THIS THREAD USE THE FEEDBACK THREAD So here we go let the lights fade and enjoy RöMeDrI It was late as the Bluejay crept along side the window, as hard as it may be for a bird to walk he found it simple and embraced the fact that he could be more like his human companions. It had almost been a week now and the group had prospered under the leadership he gave, through his squeaks and pecks he had formed alliances between others who had survived, alliances they were sure they would need in the future. "where are we going?" asked airhood, the strongest of the group. Bluejay replied with a fluttering of his wings and a peck on the ground. For those of you who do not have the privilege to understand the language of birds Toby translated "whatever we want, we are getting strong each of us portraying an individual talent, we are a great team let us stay this way till the sun falls out of the sky." "you got that all from a bird?" asked buddy, a strong character among the group but one of vast knowledge as well. "why yes I did!" he exclaimed. "now don't bicker!" said the great night stalker "we are a family we stick together throughout the hardest times, we have been put together for a reason, a reason we have yet to realise." For many days night stalker had watched the camp from the trees contemplating their chances of survival in this new world. Often he would fall into a deep sleep. Tonight was one of these nights. He was enveloped into a world of peace and tranquility, a haven from the death and destruction seen all around. A figure haunted this dream world, he loomed above night stalker every step he took. The figure turned throwing a hand toward him as he did so, but it was batted away by a tall man, he was dressed in a dark blue hood which covered his face, a long fight ensued from this point on a battle not seen since the days of the knights of old. The battle raged on but it seemed like night stalker was pinned to the spot, he was helpless! But the man fought for him as if he was his own. With a large cry the man plunged his staff into the figures face, the figure fell to the ground. Slowly the man limped toward night stalker whispering something about a stupid boy and the need for peace. "hello night stalker" the man said "I know you have been watching us, I am the Bluejay." "But, but your just a bird" stammered night stalker. "I am a being of the dream world my form in your world portrays my actions here. I am known as the thief in the night and as the poet I fight for my friends, you have been chosen to travel with me in not only your world but mine, this is rare to happen and especially to one such as you. I will protect you here but I will need your help in the world of your birth. I am but a bird in your world but I am a mighty warrior here we shall be very useful to each other, and I hope we grow as friends if not just as allies." Night stalker woke with a shock. This cannot be true there is no other world. But the more he thought about it the more real it seemed he though of different ideas but they all included one point that this over dimension, this other world was infact real and that the Bluejay was a being whom straddled the two. As night stalker sat there he pondered the reality of his world compared to the bluejays. Could he stay there forever? What benefits would it give? After hours of deliberation, in which time the sun had rose into the sky and the forest had begun to wake, he decided to learn all he could from the Bluejay and his world, and protect the defenceless bird in this world. Then suddenly, a large roar came from inside the forest, extinguishing the fire and turning the camp into the exact opposite of a quiet sleeping environment. It was complete turmoil! The group jumped up and gathered in the fireside area ready for anything that could possibly be thrown at them. But what was coming? All they knew was it would be the greatest challenge they ever faced... This world was hard enough to survive in without all these other challenges but no, the god or goddess or whatever being controlled this dimension had to go and throw a spanner in the works. The group were defenceless They could not hold on to any battle at this point, "quick scarper!" screamed laboa. No one hesitated to do so as they ran they decided upon a meeting point, the old hanger by the airfield, it was well known for being guarded but with a huge amount of people dead the risk had decreased tenfold. So they all ran their separate ways. But we follow the journey of night stalker and his faithful companion and leader Bluejay. Night stalker had ran for hours, he thought was alone in the darkness, but he was wrong, a small chirp came from behind him and the Bluejay flew toward him. With incredible elegance he landed upon his shoulder. Night stalker was happy to know that he had a friend with him but afraid of the fact that he had put him in danger, without a weapon he was defenceless, he would have to do whatever he had to do with only his hands, until he thought of the staff which Bluejay carried in the dream world. Yes, a staff he said to himself, he looked around for one and settled on 2 metres of knotted hawthorn. He turned to the Bluejay and said "I'm getting more and more like you everyday, I hope it's a good thing." for a second he thought he saw the bird smile! He dismissed that as unimportant and carried on into the depths of the woods... After days of trekking, for the forest of därmôr was the size of the entire continent of asia, night stalker rested. He placed his staff next to him positioning it in such a way that It was in close reach incase he was ambushed. "I need a better weapon" he thought to himself, this staff is good but it just isn't me I need something to pierce the flesh something metal. Out if the corner of his eye night stalker spotted something shiny (no other words to describe it) he cautiously walked toward it, remembering it could be hostile if it were living. Luckily enough for night stalker it was but an inanimate object, one however of unknown origin. He pondered where it came from until he remembered the myths of fallen stars in the forest. These stars were used as the metal for the blades of the heroes of old. And as night stalker was in need he gladly used it. After lighting a fire night stalker removed his tools and began to shape the metal over the fire. It took many hours his muscles rippled and sweat poured down his face... After hours of metal working and huge muscle strain night stalker produced a blade, a blade made to overpower all those who fought against him. The blade itself was 4 foot long with the knotted hawthorn as the handle, "it's ruff and ready, but it will do..." all of the energy used to make the blade had exhausted night stalker. He fell into a deep sleep one that may cause him more danger then his current situation. "Get up you fool! I said get up" night was shaken by the mysterious figure whom he knew could only be one, Bluejay... "I'm asleep, but you tell me to wake up?" night stalker asked, startled by his rather rude awakening. "Must I explain everything to you? You are a very rare breed of the commoners known as humanity, in this world you are known as the äraéti translated into your language than means wanderers of the night, many do not come into contact with a škulmári such as my self in both worlds, and those that do usually become the greatest heroes or die the most bitter deaths." explained Bluejay. "your blade as you may have noticed has followed you into this realm..." But then night stalker cut in, "why were you so intent on watching me make this blade?" "my friend I have seen many a blade before but only once before have I seen one of this caliber," pulling out his own blade Bluejay said "this is that blade I have named it àêdrami translated as the scream into your language. Why don't you name your blade?"he asked. "I have no idea at this moment in time." stuttered night stalker. "then we shall name it another time. Quickly wake up and be prepared there is a great danger close by I scouted it in my bird form, it shall be there as soon as you awake so wield your nameless blade and fight for honour." Night stalker woke up drenched in a cold sweat. He grabbed his blade as Bluejay had told him and was ready for a fight. He heard a shriek in the distance, it was the cry of a girl. Night stalker was not about to wait to save someone. Quick as a flash he bounded through the undergrowth toward the place of the screams origins. As he ran he thought to himself "am I just running into more trouble?" however he disregarded this thought and kept on running. He slowed to a jog as he got closer and closer to the area from which the scream came, he wanted to survey the area before he, to use a common metaphor, dived into the deep end. He stopped by a large oak tree and peered round the corner, if trees have corners? And there he saw something he never wanted to see again. A figure, one that reminded night stalker of the monster Bluejay had saved him from in the other world. He/she/it, he had no idea which of those it was, was around 12ft tall and had no definite features his body was almost transparent, but inside you could see but one thing, a crimson heart. This heart struck fear into night stalker. He continued to look around until he saw Bluejay pecking at a pile of rubble, not 4 feet from night stalker. He ran over to it and began to dig and pull away large pieces of rubble. After he had removed a large chunk he heard a mumbled word "Ñarkin" was that word or chant or whatever it was, but night stalker was sure of one thing it wasn't human. He kept on digging until he uncovered a blood stained hand, it was still moving! Maybe there was hope for this girl yet. He continued to dig with a renewed hope, he would do this, he kept repeating in the back of his mind. As he continued bluejay kept a look out for the crimson hearted beast. It must haven taken near to an hour and plenty of cursing till he finally uncovered a girl, she looked around 16 the same age as night stalker, he could, even through the bruising and dried blood see that she was obviously beautiful. But he needed to move her away from this place, there was a great danger here. One that not even bluejay was confident to fight. As quick as a flash he pulled her up on to his shoulder, careful to maintain her dignity I may add. And ran across the plain that separated that small pile of rubble from the forest beyond. Adrenalin coursed through his veins as one pound of his feet after another meant closer to his safety and the safety of this girl. He bounded into the forest making sure he put a large amount of distance between himself and the crimson hearted beast whom he had just remembered. Tired, he sat down to catch his breath, but he knew this was but a momentary pause in the problems that were yet to come. "what is going on?" murmured the girl. Night stalker thought she had been unconscious, and maybe for a time she had. But she picked herself up with a dignity that none apart from kings and queens can match and limped across the small camp that night stalker had erected and collapsed into his arms. "Thank you for saving me," she wheezed "without you I would be long dead. Is there anything I can do to repay you?" now to night stalker this sudden offer only increased his puzzlement about the girl so he asked a simple question. "what is your name?" he mumbled quiet enough that only she could hear it. "I have many names but this is my birth-name, I am Kiana." this is an uncommon name in this land but night stalker knew all to well of the tragedies and heroisms connected to it. You see, he had once been told of the great kiana whom roamed these woods playing her panpipes and encouraging the growth of all animals and plants. But one day a group of pirates started a large forest fire. In a bid to protect everything she had kiana sacrificed her spirit to douse the flames and save the nature which she held so close to her heart. "if you are anything like the hero you are named after," said night stalker "you are a most welcome companion. No repayment needed. Just a chance to join us on our journey toward the hanger of the north to meet out companions."
