  1. Planet Shan'gra
    Dr. Teo Paluntsa's Lab

"Open this door, Paluntsa!!" yelled General Kanton. The burly general tried his hardest but was unable to pry open the massive steel door between himself and the scientist. His brow narrowed as he listened to the man's breathing on the other side.
"I refuse to let you turn him into a monster!" exclaimed Paluntsa. The scientist turned and looked at the young boy standing in the far corner of his great laboratory. Paluntsa was stirred from his thoughts by the sounds of the general's massive fists beating on the door.
"What you are doing is treason," Kanton said. "Do you realize that? Do you understand what we will do to you when we breach this door?" The scientist shivered as he thought of the painful torture that awaited him as soon as the general and his men found their way around the single barrier keeping him safe for the moment. He wondered whether it would just be easier to hand the boy over, after all, he was just a... The scientist felt a tug on his shirt and looked down into the blue eyes of the boy. His eyes showed no fear or worry, only hope. Paluntsa knelt down beside the boy and took him into his arms.
"I will personally make sure you regret this decision for the rest of your unbelievably long and painful life!" Kanton exclaimed angrily. He looked at his men working on unlocking the door and smiled. The general was mere seconds from being able to grasp his hands tightly around the traitor's throat and unleash the full rage of the Shan'gra people. "We are almost through, vermin," he said in a cold voice. Kanton thought of the riches Emperor Sag'ep would bestow upon him for the capture of the traitor and the return of his greatest weapon.
Paluntsa sweeped the boy into his arms and rushed him over to the only escape pod in the laboratory. He sat the boy in and made sure he was securely fastened and said, "Never hesitate, boy. Always believe in yourself and do what's right. You are capable of amazing things." The scientist closed the hatch to the pod after giving the young boy one last hug and smile. As he reached the control pad he heard the door burst open. He looked up into the evil grey eyes of General Kanton and the twenty men behind him. "Stop what you are doing and you may be granted a quick death," the general said cooly. Paluntsa looked into his adversary's eyes and smiled, simultaneously pressing the button that would send the boy hundreds of millions of miles away. "No!" Kanton screamed as he jumped for the scientist, but it was too late. The pod was out of sight before it could even be stopped. He turned and grabbed Paluntsa by the throat, slamming him against the wall. "Where is it? Where did you send it??" he questioned. Paluntsa smiled and said, "Somewhere where you will never find him." The great general threw the scientist to two of his soldiers, commanding them to drag him away, and turned towards the window. "Sir, what should we do about the boy?" asked one of Kanton's men. The general continued looking into the vastness of space and replied, "Begin the search. We will find that weapon."

  2. Planet Earth
    Candom, Tennessee

It seems like Tyler has been running for miles. The cotton seem to pass by in blur by this time and he is almost out of the small town he calls Hell. His heart is practically beating out of his chest while his legs feel like they will collapse into jelly at any moment. He knows he can't afford to but he steals a look behind him anyways. Kyle Vater and his gang of thugs are still following him after all of these miles. It was hard to believe that all of this was because Tyler accidently made Kyle's girlfriend fall in love with him. Not to mention Tyler accidently slept with her. Oops. "Ugh!" he says as he runs face first into a speed limit sign. The impact knocks the breath out of him and he falls backward onto the ground. He begins to scramble back to his feet when he feels a size 11 foot kick him in the back, making him fall face first into the dirt. "You thought you could sleep with Becky and get away with it?" Kyle asks. Tyler tries to get up but is stopped by a kick to his ribs. "I wouldn't have slept with her had she not been so desperate," Tyler coughs out. Kyle replies by kicking him in the ribs again. "Kyle, let's just go," says a tall boy on Kyle's left. "Just beat his face in real quick so we can go back," says the boy on Kyle's right. Tyler looks up and laughs. "What's so funny?" Kyle questions. Please don't say something stupid, Tyler thinks to himself. Tyler grabs onto the sign and starts to pull himself up, laughing the entire time. "Why are you laughing??" Kyle yells. Tyler stands up and looks into Kyle's brown eyes and says, "What do you think Becky is doing tonight? I could use a quickie after this." The boy on Kyle's left starts to chuckle but quickly stifles it. The boy on the right just shakes his head. Tyler looks at Kyle and notices his fists clenched and his jaws grinding together. Before Tyler can say anything else he feels Kyle's right fist land squarely on his jaw, nearly knocking him unconscious. He hears the muffled voices of the three boys as he lays in the dirt, looking up at the stars. Kyle and his friends are walking away now and Tyler is left by himself for what seems like hours. Left to his thoughts, to his dreams, and ultimately, his fears. He is stirred from his thoughts by a bright star, seemingly falling right towards him. He lays there still, knowing it won't fall exactly on him but probably fifty feet away. It gets closer and still seems like it will land right on top of him. Tyler begins to lean up, peering at the magnificent falling star until it becomes frighteningly apparent that it is going to crash on him. Tyler jumps up and fumbles towards the other side of the road. He slides into the ditch on the other side of the road just as the comet crashes where he was just laying. He gets up on his hands and knees and is shocked at what meets his gaze. There, standing where the comet ha landed, was a boy about his age. He was dressed in a grey jumpsuit and stood at about 6'. His dark brown hair seemed almost black in the shadows of the night. Tyler began to slowly back away from the mysterious boy, fearful of who he was and too scared to find out. The boy looked at him and Tyler froze in his tracks. He had been spotted.

  3. The Shan'graian stood up and looked around. He took notice of the small white substances that seemed to sprout out of the ground. He looked behind him at the now disintegrating escape pod, leaving little trace of his arrival. He looked down and noticed he was considerably farther from the ground than when he last stood up, indicating the escape pod had slowed his aging but not halted it completely. The Shan'graian closed his eyes and felt the cold breeze hit his skin. He listened intently to the sounds that surrounded him. The escape pod had downloaded knowledge of this blue planet, known as Planet A-15 on his own planet but called Earth by it's many inhabitants. The Shan'graian noticed a strong heartbeat on his left and found the source. Slowly backing away from him was a light haired boy. He was on his hands and knees and appeared frightened. The Shan'graian smiled at the boy and walked over to him, lifting him into the air like he weighed no more than a blade of grass. This seemed to frighten the boy even more as he yelled out and started struggling. The Shan'graian gently placed the boy back on his feet and spoke in clear Shan'graian that he meant no harm and was deeply sorry for frightening him. The boy had a puzzled look on his face and shook his head. The Shan'graian then indicated the boy to speak by pointing at his mouth then in turn pointing to the Earthling. If he speaks I should be able to learn the language just based on a single word, the Shan'graian thought. The escape pod had taught him many things about his destination in the many years he had spent crossing the vast distance from Shan'gra to Earth. It taught him the many used languages of Earth but he had no idea which to use on the boy. The boy finally realized what he was being told to do and said, "What are you?" The Shan'graian smiled at such a simple question being asked of him. "I am a Shan'graian from Planet S-054, better know as Shan'gra by my people," he said with a smile. The boy was shocked at the sudden use of his language by such an unearthly visitor. "My name is Tyler, what's yours?" the boy asked. Now this question was not so simple to answer. The Shan'graian could not remember ever being called a name other than "boy" by the scientist and "it" by the general. "I don't think I have a name," the boy said. Tyler seemed puzzled. "What's it say on your suit? There are lines and stuff on the left breast." Tyler said. The Shan'graian looked down and noticed the written language of Shan'gra. He looked up at Tyler and said, "My name..... is Proton."

  4. "Proton? That's normal," Tyler said sarcasticly. Proton stared at him blankly then said, "Your sarcasm is not lost on me, Tyler." Both young men were lost in their own thoughts at this point, Tyler wondering how he would get home and Proton wondering what to do now that he was on Earth. "Wait, how did you lift me in the air so easily?" Tyler asked suddenly. Proton looked at him and smiled. "Asking that question of me would be like you asking a bird how it flies. It's natural." Proton replied. There was utter silence for only a moment then Tyler asked, "Can you fly?"
"Actually, I'm not sure." Proton replied, "But I'm eager to find out." Proton closed his eyes and focused on the wind. He focused on the light breeze that blew his hair and kissed his skin. He suddenly felt his feet lifting off of the ground. He opened his eyes and looked down at the shocked face of Tyler looking up at him nearly ten feet below him. "You can fly!" Tyler yelled in excitement as Proton gently landed his feet back on the ground. "What does it mean?" Proton asked. "It means you can give me a ride home," Tyler replied smiling.

  5. Proton discovered that he thorouhly enjoyed flying. The wind in his hair. The feeling of being untouchable by anything in this new world. He looked down and marveled at the bright lights of the small town he was flying over. He was awakened out of his daydream by the sounds of gunshots and sirens below him. "What's going on?" he asked Tyler.
"It looks like someone is trying to rob the bank!" Tyler yelled back at him.
"What should we do?" Proton asked.
"What can we do?" Tyler replied. Proton thought for a second, then suddenly dropped towards the ground and landed behind a building close to the bank. "What are you doing, Proton??" Tyler asked. Proton stood there for a second and said, "The only thing I can do. I have to help your police."
"Put down your weapons!" yelled Deputy Grady. He ducked back behind his police cruiser as a flood of bullets pummelled his car. These men are going to get an innocent person killed, he thought. He peered over his car once again and was shocked to see a boy approaching the men from the side of the bank. The thugs had kept Grady and the other officers pinned down with a steady stream of bullets so they were unable to move. "What's this idiot doing?" said Grady as he watched the boy sneak around behind the men. He was then shocked to see the boy run towards the closest gunman and lift him into the air with ease. The man yelled in surprise and began to fire randomly into the air and around him. Grady then watched the boy grab the gun out of the man's hands and crush it with one hand, tossing it to the side like a used napkin. When the other three gunmen noticed they trained their sights on the boy until he threw their partner at them which took out one of them. As the other two men began firing at the boy, he lifted the van the first man had been hiding behind above his head and threw it at them. The men scrambled towards the bank as the van hit the other car they were hiding behind. Grady watched as the two gunmen ran inside the bank immediately followed by the mysterious boy....

  6. Proton could hardly believe what he was doing. He hadn't even been on Earth for barely one hour and he was already in the midst of battle. He could feel his adrenaline pumping as he entered the bank behind the two men. One of the men turned and began firing at Proton, nearly hitting him. Proton flew straight up into the air as he felt the bullets fly by him. The other man turned around and both began firing at Proton as he flew around inside the bank. "Surrender and I will not harm you," Proton said. The two men laughed as they fired their weapons more furiously. Proton flew behind a pillar in the center of the bank and listened for the approaching footsteps of the men. He could hear their hearts beating extremely fast in their chests. He listened as one approached the pillar and the other seemed to back farther away. The man was now barely a foot away as Proton heard him load his weapon. Just as the man finished reloading, the other man began firing at the empty spot Proton had been standing not even five seconds ago. As soon as he noticed that he was only hitting thin air he stopped firing and said, "He was standing right there! Where did he go??"
"I didn't see wher..." the words hung on the other man's lips as a desk crashed down on him from above. His partner ran over to him and looked up to see Proton's smiling face and strong fist before he was knocked unconscious by it. Proton laughed as he landed on the ground beside the two unconscious men. Just as he reached down to pick them up, Deputy Grady and his men ran through the door, weapons drawn. "Freeze!" Grady yelled as he aimed his gun at Proton. Proton smiled and flew through the nearest window before anyone could stop him.
Tyler sat waiting impatiently on the ground in the alley Proton had dropped him at. He was playing with an empty beer can when Proton finally returned smiling. "What happened?" Tyler asked excitedly.
"I helped them capture the criminals" Proton replied.
"Did anyone see you??" Tyler asked.
"No. I don't think anyone did," Proton said. "Why would it matter if someone did?"
"It might not end good for you if they did." Tyler replied worriedly. Tyler had alot of time to worry and think about the consequences if someone were to see what Proton could do. They may do tests on him or even try to use him as a weapon. "I really enjoyed helping your police force," Proton said with a smile. He had never had that much fun before in his entire life. Not since Dr. Paluntsa had sent him away at least. "You want to keep doing these kinds of things? You want to be a hero?" Tyler asked.
    "Yes." Proton said, without hesitation.
