  1. I know this is not an original thread. And i know i dont have the best reputation for posting serious threads about anything. But i have a weakness. Im a sucker for a cleverly turned phrase. I love poetry. The recent influx of poem threads in fan fic has relit my passion for the subject but it is somewhat difficult to keep track of them all. Id love to see your works collected here where we can comment on them and compare ideas, share rhyme schemes, and maybe even compete some nights if we get bored. I hope fo see all manner of poems here from silly to depressing.

  2. Amy on the brain

    Distant horizons oceans apart,
Flashing a smile light in my heart,
Standing in place lost in the blue,
Lost in the sky, and thinking of you.

Dreaming away when nights get too long,
Singing my way through symphony's song,
Finding what's real, finding what's true,
Finding myself and thinking of you.

Hearing the tinkle of cascading rain,
    Discovering passions i cant restrain,
Out on the parkway in mountainous view
Watching the distance and thinking of you.

Oceans waves awash in the spray,
At the dawn and the dusk and the dark of the day,
Drawn to your eyes, engrossed by the hue,
    Always, forever thinking of you.

  3. This is my first poem of sunshine my last three are about love and this is about Sunshine, lakes, ponds, rivers, mice, what hurts the most, life, home, boyfriends, cat, walrus, tree, and death

    Sunshine Collection

    Sunshine Lake

I cant believe the sunshine is gone,
    The lake,
    The ponds,
    Rivers,
    And
    Mice
    Are gone,
    What shall i do ?

    What hurts the most
    Was being so close,
And having so much to say,
    And watching you walk away,
And never knowing what couldve been,
And not seeing that loving you is what i was trying to do

    I cant believe my life,
    My home,
    My cat,
    My walrus,
    My boyfriend,
And my tree are gone ,
But my death is still there

  7. Thx lady! I look forward to seeing some more of ur poems. Lady-marian ran the best poetry thread in kaw's history a while back. I couldnt find it.

  8. Lady-marian has agrees to run competitions on this thread. I give all ownership rights to her during competitions. If you want to set up a challenge contact her and we will have some fun! Thx lady!

  9. I will post the rule in a little while. I also looked for my poetry wars thread about a month ago and couldn't find it. Bummer.

  10. Poetry wars rules:

I made a thread a while back called the poetry wars. It went pretty well, but I soon found out all of the rules I had were pretty unnecessary. So here's how it will work:

    • First, you and another person need to be on at the same time.

    • Then you need to choose a topic and a time limit.
Note: Topics can be anything: Frogs, muffins, death, love... ANYTHING!
Another note: Time limits should not be shorter than five minutes, or longer than an hour.

    • You and your opponent will write up a poem about the subject you agreed on. You must finish your poem within the decided time limit.
Note: If you don't finish your poem within the time limit, you're disqualified, and your opponent wins.

    • You will both post your poems on the thread. When they are both there, other people may read them and offer suggestions. They may also choose which one they like the best. The person that gets the most "likes" wins.

    • If no one is on, and/or no one chooses to like either poem, either wait, or choose to not care. Just write your poetry for the sake of writing it. Have fun with the competitions.

Hmm... That's about it. Make your own rules up it you want.

OH YEAH!!! Threesomes and foursomes and fivesomes and etc. are expectable! The more, the merrier!

  11. I don't like the third one.

    Belonging one:

    Independent from the start,
    Born away, born apart.

I walk the path of the unique,
But to belong is what I seek.

All but me shall dance a song,
    Swaying to the beating gong.

    Separately, I dance away,
Choosing to twirl, instead of sway.

When everyone's heart is all alone,
Only then will my soul belong.

    Belonging two:

I think I knew it all along,
That everyone had their own little song,
But then again, what if I'm wrong?
What if only I do not belong?
What will happen to my little song?

    Belonging three:

    The sparrows will sing,
    The bells will ring,
But only I know what time will bring.

    You can cry,
    You can sigh,
But know that you are always mine.

Soon short days will be long,
Soon what's right will be wrong,
Soon, my child, you will belong.

  12. I liked all three lady. The second verse of the third one throws off the flow a bit but thats an easy fix with a little syllable addition or two.

  13. Peanut butter is good

  14. This is the first poam I've ever written so here goes. It's called happiness: some say happiness is nought but a dream
Some say it holds up their lives like a beam

what is this thing only some seem to know
Is it important or is it or show

  15. Heartless

    The small and meek,
    the big and tall
    They mock all
    Of when I fall.
    But I don't laugh
    When someone dies
    Instead I cry,
    Instead they try.
    Standing out alone,
    They sit their and moan,
And in turn make a mess,
    And now they're called heartless.

  16. Nice one fanged! Really good.

  17. Bypass to the manifest destiny

Level the world with your unhalting gaze.
Vanquish the walls of the psychotic maze.
I envied you once for your infinite power.
As time passes by my envy turns sour.
You're striding along by unhindered diversion
Brush them aside you succeed by aversion
    Destiny shreiks beyond unchosen paths.
You claim them and toss them aside in your wrath.
Look down and around at the others. They're dying.
You by compare are most certainly flying.
    You're a titan, a giant, beyond you're surpassing.
Ignoring your goals, your fates are amassing.
Through time, passing life the end is implied.
Thoughts of your death are of course tossed aside.
Truth, like a shockwave explodes; becomes nearer.
As i see you, myself looking back from the mirror.

  18. Image

    Look in the mirror,
    What do you see?
    Calm, anguish or uncertainty?
What I see, is what you ask.
I will tell you of my horrid past.

Left alone at a young age,
I thrived on attention, little or much.
When I walked into a school,
I changed myself to fit in with the cool.

I got my attention, my praise and followers.
    But it was my death.
    Like a flower in winter,
    I wilted away.
One wrong decision changed my ways.

So what is it that I see you ask?
I no longer see my face.
Not MY face, a face of youth.
Only a face that was not to be mine.

  19. Your heart; it speaks
Speaks so smoothly; yet there's something behind
An innocent evil; it lurks behind
It lurks your heart; changes your mind
You can feel it; it's a dagger in your side.
It runs deeper; It won't be long
It is your end; your innocent end
Can we stop it? No, hope is gone
    The winds have tried
    The thoughts of men too
They both failed, we are doomed
Doomed for hurt; our image shattered
Cast off the image; shed the pain
Be who you are; light may come in
For now; darkness will reign; greed will be king
You will suffer; dead and deep
Your decency spent; your will dissolved
You will fall; I will watch
The salt will run; down my cheeks
They will not save you; only my peace of mind
Death has won; deceit is here
We have lost; We are gone
