  1. Pet Food Pets

In my area of the world there's recently been a small uproar in local social media involving a man and his 14ft 68 lb python "boa". This man visits some schools and nursing homes educating people about snakes. Now here's where things get controversial. This man is "allegedly" keeping a look out for people giving away puppies, kittens and chicks so that he can feed them to his snake. Now of course this is very offensive to some people. Some even announce their condemnation of that man "sick and immoral behavior they say". Some express they feel this man should suffer a horrible fate and or wish him physical harm.

For every offended person their seems to be an equal amount of people voicing their opinions that animals eat other animal, it's natural...ect. These people don't feel this man should be condemned for acquiring free "food" for his snake. They argue that many of these "give away pups" would probably suffer a far darker fate of being dumped, abandoned, put in a shelter and eventually put down...ect.

I find my self confused about how I feel on the matter. Now I won't argue the legality of this matter "as I'm not sure on it" but there doesn't seem to be a specific law against feeding one animal to another animal...in fact it's perfectly acceptable to buy live mice and rabbits for snake food...so legally it's pretty iffy. As we all know sometimes what's illegal isn't nessacarlily immoral, so what I'm about to argue is the morality of this mans alleged actions.

To me the only legitment argument against this man is that getting a "pet" from someone under the pretense or assumption that you are going to give this animal a home when really it's just food is a pretty rude and inconsiderate thing to do. I would definitly be a little upset if I had a littler of pupa or kittens I was trying to find homes for and then found out one of em was fed to a snake. Now that aside, is what he is alegedly doing immoral or sick behavior? If he bred his own pups and kittens for snake food would people be any less offended? I think not. But why?? Why are people offended by these paticular animals being used as food? It makes no sense to me...I can relate, as I too like dogs and cats "I'm not at all concerned with the chicks that were initially mentioned". But this must be an emotional offense we take against it and not a logical one.

Millions of other animals are raised in captivity for the sole purpose of being killed, butchered, packaged, sold and consumed. And this is completely acceptable to most people...we like meat. So how is it that the feeding of a puppy or kitten to a snake should give warrant for such an offense? How can this utterly disgust people and be considered sick behavior? How can this be when most all of us are accepting of what is done In order to supply us with beef,pork,chicken...ect?

Pup gets fed to snake and people lose their minds...cow exist only to be slaughtered and people spend money to eat it.

What are all of your thoughts? Moral or immoral? Acceptable or unacceptable?

  2. ....a dog is a dog BUT humans have bred dogs so much that they have actually evolved to interact in a way that wolves or other animals can't.

Dogs are the only Animals (so far proven) that actually have the ability to sense human emotions and interact accordingly ...as a human when you 1st meet another human you automatically scan their face left to right to subconsciously access symmetry. We've Bred dogs so much that they actually do this ...the only animal that does.

  3. I don't disagree with that todd. But I'm willing to bet that truth doesn't exactly hold the key to our love affair with "pets". In some countries puppy meat is considered a delicacy. If in more prominent countries people found dog meat desirable, I'm sure we would somehow rationalize how it's ok to raise them for the slaughter house.

  4. I guess my whole arguement is that human logic is peculiar.

  5. It's different from what they're use to.

  6. Maybe he should get a smaller snake, or raise chickens to feed it

  7. I'm a tiger!!! Don't accuse me being a dog! Or hudog or human!
