Well, anyone who enjoys the NFL is aware of deflate gate. For those of you who aren't, the general idea is that for many games, Tom Brady has been throwing around footballs that aren't up to regulation standards. The investigation found this to be true, and the scandal was broke WIDE OPEN when texts surfaced from the Equipment managers who were tampering with the balls just before the games. This is much like playing baseball with a corked bat, or running your NASCAR with engine specs that aren't legal. It's cheating plain and simple. Text based evidence and confessions Have now moved this case from the realm of speculation to reality. Below is a copy/paste of a random article I googled on the topic. I was curious to your thoughts. How do you feel about the Punishment? What does this do to TOM Brady and the patriots "legacy"? (Personally, pats got off super duper light. $1million in fines, a draft pick and a 4 game suspension for brady is a small price to pay for cheating your way to the big dance. I'd have enjoyed seeing a harsher punishment, but, T least its something.) I don't knock the patriots skills. They are a very talented team, and I give them credit for that, It's just that, In my opinion, things like spy gate and deflate gate cement Tom Brady's legacy as dirty. When the patriots records are brought up, these scandals will always be discussed. They will always be a part of the history. Anyway, here is your article. I look forward to your thoughts and comments. NEW YORK -- The NFL has suspended Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady without pay for the first four games of the season, fined the New England Patriots $1 million and taken away two draft picks as punishment for deflating footballs used in the AFC title game, the league said in a statement Monday. The NFL also indefinitely suspended the two equipment staffers believed to have carried out the plan, including one who called himself "The Deflator." Brady will miss the season's showcase kickoff game Sept. 10 against Pittsburgh, Week 2 at Buffalo, a home game against Jacksonville and a game at Dallas. He will return the week the Patriots face the Colts in Indianapolis. The Patriots will also lose a first-round pick in 2016 and a fourth-round pick in 2017. Brady has three days to appeal the suspension to commissioner Roger Goodell or his designee. Brady would be replaced by Jimmy Garoppolo, a 2014 second-round selection from Eastern Illinois who won the Walter Payton award as the best player in the FCS. He has thrown 27 NFL passes, including one touchdown. Brady's agent, Don Yee, said "the discipline is ridiculous and has no legitimate basis" and that Brady will appeal. "And if the hearing officer is completely independent and neutral, I am very confident the Wells report will be exposed as an incredibly frail exercise in fact-finding and logic," Yee said in a statement. The Patriots did not immediately comment on the punishments. The punishment was announced five days after the release of the lengthy Wells report that found that Patriots personnel deliberately deflated footballs before the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 18, 2015, and that Brady "was at least generally aware" of the violations. "With respect to your particular involvement, the report established that there is substantial and credible evidence to conclude you were at least generally aware of the actions of the Patriots' employees involved in the deflation of the footballs and that it was unlikely that their actions were done without your knowledge," NFL executive vice president Troy Vincent wrote in a letter to Brady. The 243-page report by league-appointed attorney Ted Wells said it was "more probable than not" that Brady was aware of plans to prepare the footballs to his liking, below the NFL-mandated minimum of 12.5 pounds per square inch. The report identified two Patriots employees -- officials' locker room attendant Jim McNally and equipment assistant John Jastremski -- as the ones who executed the plan. The Patriots suspended both indefinitely last week. Neither can be reinstated without the approval of the NFL, the league said. Reaction in the sports world was widespread in the aftermath of the news, and Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount tweeted his objections to the discipline.
more probable than not  He is a professional. A professional knows his tools. He would be able to feel the ball and know it was deflated just by gripping it.
4 games = 2 mil loss for Brady is that all and 1 mil for the team. That's not even a slap on the wrist.I feel they should have to give up the whole season
that's not just my opinion. Mark Brunnell came out and said that when this first happened. the QB checks the balls multiple times throughout the pregame
Didn't you use the same damn analogies last time? And say that you had known lance Armstrong was guilty before anyone had even heard he potentially was using steroroids. And then said you predicted every other sports mishap? Yeah your full of crap. That's why I did not read past 4 paragraphs of this. No matter what you write even if its correct your still full of crap.
In my opinion the bigger story should be how the clippers cheated to beat the spurs in the first round of the nba playoffs.
When you win the Super Bowl, your first draft pick is pretty far down the line, so, that's no big deal and yes, the player who said brady should be suspended for a season hit it on the head. He's only out for 4 games because brady brings in money and losing him for a season would cost the NFL too much revenue. As skills go, the patriots are very very good. I won't deny it, but with spy gate and deflate gate, they reside over a dirty legacy
They are losing a 2016 pick. That order has yet to be determined. But even if they do win the next superbowl and pick 32nd again, that's still a pretty big deal. the way the league is structured with salary cap its important to hit during the draft because you cant really build through free agency. But I digress because the Pats seem to have a knack for making the most out of what they have
U didn't know the Grey Cup is older than the Super Bowl either U never heard of Warren Moon? Doug Flutie? Jeff Garcia? Joe Kapp?
For deflating footballs? No, its not even that big of a deal anyway. Its partly the refs fault as well for not checking the footballs before or during game time.
One major flaw everyone overlooks. Those texts were from MAY and OCTOBER in which they even say Brady like his ball at 13.5 which is within league standards Also, the fact that there was 2 different pressure gauges. One measured .35 psi different than the other. No one brings that up. Let's also look at the fact that the only reason Brady's punishment is so great, and this was even stated, was because the team had a "history" in '07. Two problems there. Brady wasn't a part of it and does anyone actually pay attention to the fact that you cant be charged with something twice. Finally, the only damning piece of evidence is Brady's unwillingness to give his phone. His PRIVATE phone that he reserves for family. Screw all of the idiots who think that means hes automatically guilty. Theres a flaw in every piece of evidence the NFL brought up. Only one question though, to all you "Deserved it lul" people. 100% evidence you beat up a woman to an inch of her life, suspended 2 games. Faulty, "probable" evidence with no real backbone for whats known as a "minor infraction in the rulebook", suspended 4 games, loss of 2mil dollars, fined 1 mil, loss of 2 draft picks Congrats
The joke is that the Patriots got to continue on their playoff run without any actions. The NFL is a reactionary league when it only needs to be. Fans money means more than integrity just ask MLB. Just add it on the pile of the cheaters... Mark McGwire Lance Armstrong Marion Jones n many more yet to come
As long as they don't deflate other things in NFL, I'm good.. As for the Pats and their cheating (We all KNOW they cheated.. And got caught), just like in college sports and international sports events (like the Olympics and Tour De France), they should just strip the Pats of the SB title.. ...or atleast let the SEAHAWKS re-run (omg that pun was so juicy) the last play.. ️
